Disney Branded Television has set a celebrity voice cast for its upcoming animated musical series “Firebuds” including Padma Lakshmi, Melissa Rauch, Oscar Nuñez, José Andres, Pamela Adlon and “Weird Al” Yankovic. The series will premiere on Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ on Sept. 21.
“Firebuds,” from “Sofia the First” and “Elena of Avalor” creator Craig Gerber, follows a group of friends who are the children of first responders who work and play with talking vehicles to help their community. Declan Whaley stars as Bo, a boy whose best friend is a fire engine named Flash (Terrence Little Gardenhigh). John Stamos has been cast as the voice of Iron Man in Disney Junior’s “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,” while the preschool network has also added Lou Diamond Phillips and Yvette Nicole Brown to the vocal cast of “Firebuds” and Justina Machado, Bobby Moynihan, Eric Bauza and Kari Wahlgren have joined “Pupstruction.”

Disney Junior has unveiled its original programming lineup for kids 2-7 through 2024, adding four new original series, two new short-form series, the renewal of Alice’s Wonderland Bakery, along with some high-profile castings. The Disney Junior series Fancy Nancy is taking strides in representation when it comes to children’s programming with an upcoming episode titled “Nancy’s New Friend” which will feature a character who is autistic. The episode will debut on April 2 which is timed to World Autism Awareness Day.
The idea for the episode came from a video of an 11-year-old autistic boy named George Yionoulis discovered by series writer Matt Hoverman. Yionoulis and his mother created the video for his fourth-grade class to explain to them how it is to be autistic.

George Street Playhouse announced today that Edie Falco, an Emmy Award winner for her leading roles in The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, and Grant Shaud, well known to TV audiences from his role of Miles Silverman on Murphy Brown, will perform a special reading of Matt Hoverman's new play, Thrillsville, directed by Michael Mastro, at the New Brunswick theatre on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 7 pm.
