(Welcome to Yesterday's Enterprises, a series where we explore every corner of the vast "Star Trek" universe. In this edition: What does "A Matter of Perspective" say about Riker's sexual politics?)
As a commander, Captain Kirk (William Shatner) was, in the original "Star Trek" series, something of a level-headed, military-minded leader. Although the character eventually gained a pop culture reputation of being a ladies' man and a regular violator of the Prime Directive, when it comes to his command style, Kirk was often depicted as clear-thinking, serious, and unwilling to accept guff from anyone, even itinerant gods and omnipotent aliens. He approached problems with the eye of a tactician. Very occasionally, Spock (Leonard Nimoy) or Scotty (James Doohan) would take control of the Enterprise, and audiences would see how their command styles greatly differed from Kirk's. Spock pursued problems logically, but needed to learn to accept input from his follow officers.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for the finale of “Dave” Season 2, Episode 10, “Dave.”]
“Dave” has come a long way.
Imagine it’s early 2020. You’re walking down the street, and towering above you is the billboard for “Dave” Season 1 — the one where Dave Burd, aka Lil Dicky, is popping out of the fly. A passing pedestrian sees you staring and says, “In just a few years, that show is going to bring you to tears.” Would you chuckle? Ignore them? Look over your shoulder as you speed-walk away, making sure the weirdo isn’t following you?
Probably one of the three, and yet, here we are: It’s August 2021, and the finale of “Dave” is an exquisite closing number, keeping with Season 2’s overarching mission to check Dave’s privileged perspective, acknowledge the struggles of his oft-exploited friends, and push its characters, narrative, and formal ambitions forward in ways both hysterical and yes, moving.
To be fair, once you got past the marketing,...

Continuing the season long trend of introducing us to various members of the Glee cast’s families, when Glee returns we will be blessed with the introduction of Puck’s father. We’ve already met his mother, who was played by Gina Hecht and first appeared in the Season 1 episode, “Mash-Up,” but when you meet just one parent it’s like only getting one side to very a good story. If you really want to know how Puck ended up the way he is then we’ll need to understand who is father is and how me might have affected Puck as he grew up. Parenting is fun like that.

We already posted the promo photos for the new episode of Glee that will be airing on Wednesday and now we have videos to share with you. In the next episode the cool kids in the glee club become targets (and go to neurotic Emma for tips to be cool) and Will busts a move. Below you can find the promo for the episode, along with 3 sneak peeks (thanks to tvonthebrain and E!Online). I think I'm seriously in love with Puck after watching him sing Sweet Caroline.
