Was in a serious car accident in Coldwater Canyon on December 18, 1947. While driving around a sharp curve she lost control and was thrown from the car onto the highway as the car overturned. According to newspapers she was being treated at Monte Sano hospital for "serious head injuries that may halt her film career.".

Heather attended Oregon State University, 1940-41. She transferred to the University of Washington in 1942 and early in the war was named "Canteen Dream Girl of the Northwest," by Marine, Navy, Army and Coast Guard camps in Washington state.

Was in the football rally squad at Oregon State College. Since the 1942 Rose Bowl game was relocated from Pasadena, California to Duke University in North Carolina, the rally squad was not able to attend that game.
