- Her first on stage performance at age 9 was in "The Sound Of Music"., before that in 1973 she made her first television appearance as the co-host of "The Children's Hour"; her first on screen interviews were with Cinderella and Mickey Mouse". She went on to perform in "Annie" B & T Tours and she was a member of the Kaleidoscope Company at the Permian Playhouse performing children's theater classics during High School. Spent 2 years at the Meadows Playhouse Conservatory of Theatre Arts. Went on to perform in USO show performances at Army and Air Force Bases overseas. Past Member of the Frankfurt American Theatre, Germany and the Kronenberg Shakespeare Theatre Company. Attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York City.

Permian was the setting for 2004's hit film by Peter Berg "Friday Night Lights" based on the true account of 1988's push for State by the Permian Panther Football team, as chronicled in H.G. Bissinger's book of the same name. Moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to finish High School and graduated Chapparrel High School, a few years ahead of fellow alum Anthony Zuiker, creator of CSI hits.

- Lived in Isfahan, Iran 1974-1978, with her family. Her father, William Barker was a flight instructor for Bell Helicopter during Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi's reign. That same year the Shah was the Man of the Year of 1974 in the November 4, 1974 issue of Time Magazine.

- The UNIT, original showbible pitch was written by Shari Hamrick in 2003 for NBC and Universal Television before it went to 20th Century and CBS in turn around, after showrunner Paul Attenasio passed on the proposed show due to his show "House, MD" pickup. It was then changed from an international Unit to a Delta Force Unit by David Mamet, who then based the shows on Eric Haney's books "Inside the Delta Force". In 2003, Haney met and worked with Pulitzer Prize-winning writer/director David Mamet on Mamet's film, Spartan, starring Val Kilmer. The success of that relationship led to Haney, Mamet, and Shawn Ryan (creator of The Shield) to work together on "The UNIT".
