The legend of Bigfoot has been mined in genre movies for decades – from the cheesy exploitation films of the 70s to more recent fare such as Sightings or Bigfoot Country. However aside from That popular 80s family film, Bigfoot hasn’t really been the focus of cinematic comedy… Until now. Originally titled Nigel and Oscar vs. Bigfoot, Sasq-Watch gathers together a bunch of familiar faces from TV (including shows...

Director Drew Hall discusses his violent, cerebral, theological horror film. One of the best aspects of film is that it can transport you to different worlds, both real and imaginary, and experience something greater than reality. In one of Dark Sky’s latest films, Convergence, director Drew Hall (Sons Of Liberty) does just that, by taking…

I once had a graveyard shift job painting some rooms in an old hospital that was going through serious renovations. There’s always the supervisor or facility manager who just has to toss in that common story involving warnings like “don’t go in room (such and such)” or "if you hear any rattling down the hall, that’s just the janitor that died in there back in 1960-something." “Sure thing, boss!” was my usual response, as they never had to worry about me drawing any floor pentagrams or performing any seances when no one was looking. Really I just wanted to earn my paycheck and get the hell out of there and get home to play Oblivion and ponder how work sucks for a lot of people in their 20s. This life experience of working in an empty hospital came rushing back when I felt the paranormal unease that...

Join us as we talk to writer/director Drew Hall about his latest genre-spanning film, the psychological thriller titled Convergence.
Convergence is the latest film from American filmmaker Drew Hall, whose previous credits include Sons of Liberty and The Phoenix Rises. This latest film, of which Drew was involved as both writer and director, is an intense supernatural thriller. The film focuses on a detective who fights to redeem his soul when he becomes trapped in a hospital that serves as a gateway between heaven and hell. Starring Clayne Crawford (Rectify) and Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait), check out the trailer below.
The trailer for Convergence definitely has a lot going on. It’s action-packed but also has this horror film vibe, even some religious imagery. Suffice to say, it doesn’t seem easily categorized. How would you best describe the film to the uninitiated? What can they expect?...

Dark Sky Films has brought us films as diverse and bold as The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers, and Stake Land. Joining that esteemed company is the recently released (and now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD) Convergence, in which a cop (Clayne Crawford, Swimfan, Jericho) finds himself trapped in limbo and must find redemption before he can escape. With support from veteran actors Ethan Embry (Vacancy, Once Upon A Time) and Mykelti Williamson (The Final Destination, Forrest Gump), the nightmarish action-horror film deals with weighty themes of religious fanaticism and atonement. We spoke with writer-director Drew Hall about his inspiration, beliefs, and symbolism.
Famous Monsters. Convergence is very timely since we’re in a period of religious extremism. Is that what prompted you to write the film?
Drew Hall. Yes. I grew up during a time period of very aggressive but non-violent anti-abortion protests. My family would take...

Tagline: "Where the Path to Heaven Meets the Road to Hell." *full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Dark Sky Films. **spoilers: it is recommended that you see this film before reading this review. Director/writer: Drew Hall. Cast: Clayne Crawford, Ethan Embry, Mykelti Williamson, Gary Grubbs and Chelsea Bruland. Convergence is a supernatural thriller and horror title from director Drew Hall. The film takes place in a couple of spheres, thanks partially to Dante's Purgatorio. The removal of sins has been replaced by the protagonist's search for the truth. Act III makes this readily apparent as Ben (Clayne Crawford) comes to terms with his murderer. While trying to avoid spoilers, this review will also look as some of the films indie influences and positive film elements. Convergence is a great mystery, whose secret should be unwrapped by film fans. Convergence offers a compelling story. It...

Update: The Aether proof of concept film, ‘Aether: The Rise of Specter’, has been released! It clocks in at approximately 8 minutes and provides a quick walk-through of an elaborate world and a glimpse at the people who live in it. It stirs up feelings of Firefly for me, which is a very good thing. Don’t take my word for it. Check out the film below!
We absolutely love supporting independent filmmakers, short films, and unique storytelling. So when I learned about Aether: Prologue we just had to learn more. You may remember our preview of the full length feature Convergence done earlier this year (check it out if you missed it). Well the fine folks at Frame 29 Films, responsible for Convergence, are also responsible for Aether: Prologue.
The genre of steam punk has really been gaining popularity in recent years, and Aether: Prologue seeks to elevate the concept with a fantastic original story.

Happy New Year Citizens! 2015 is freshly upon us with tons of fantastic films to look forward to watching! Part of the fun isn’t just the big blockbusters, and of that there are plenty. I really take a lot of enjoyment in new and unique independent films. Convergence fits the mold perfectly as it is blends elements of mystery and horror to create a thriller worthy of attention.
Written and directed by Drew Hall, Convergence follows Detective Ben Walls and the mystery that ensues after an accident lands him in a local hospital. With numerous twists and turns, Convergence will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will avoid speaking too much about the plot to avoid potential spoilers – but rather focus on some of the other elements of the film.
First of the cinematography is top notch. The film is beautifully framed with lighting perfectly placed in...

The past couple of years has seen a resurgence of Bigfoot-based horror flicks, taking full advantage of the ever weakening found footage genre. But 'Nigel and Oscar vs. the Sasquatch' will be attempting to shake things up a little by hopefully bringing with it a heap of giggles. Paul Brittain ('Saturday Night Live') and Adam Herschman ('Nurse 3-D') take the title roles as two geeks who head out into the wilderness to track down the legendary Sasquatch. A psychotic woodsman tracker (played by 'Scrubs' star Neill Flynn) and a skeptical young woman (played the sexy Christine Bently -below ('Shark Night')) also join the duo on their hunt. The Frame 29 Films and Mudbrick Media co-production finds 'Convergence' helmer Drew Hall directing from a script by James Weldon....
