Hit: The First Case
Starring Rajkummar Rao, Sania Malhotra, Jatin Goswami,
Written & Directed by Sailesh Kolanu
One can always depend on Rajkummar Rao to carry a film to its finish even if the material tends to stumble at crucial points. As it does in this thriller, Hit, a remake of the Telugu film of the same title where Vishwak Sen played the troubled cop looking for two missing girls, one of them his life partner.
The set-up is intriguing and skilled cinematographer S Manikandan who also shot the original telugu film, uses the Udaipur locales to create the visual equivalent of a calm ocean with rumbles within. The director uses extraneous props such as the background score to create a sense of distant foreboding.

Mumbai, March 5 (Ians) "Raag", a film close to the heart of late Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan, is all set to hit theatres on March 26.
"During the pandemic, we lost Saroj ji. She was the backbone of our project. Right from helping us in finalising the story to choreographing to suggesting an item number for the film to casting one of her favourite students -- Heena Panchal -- for the same, Saroj ji helped us a lot. Despite all our earnest efforts the film could not be released while she was around. We are now releasing it on 26th March 2021, and it is our tribute to the noble soul," producer Piyush Mundhada said.
"It is also the first work of the late choreographer to release in theatres posthumously. Had she been there, she would have been very proud of the same," he added.
Renowned choreographer Saroj Khan passed away in July last year.

National Award winning director and script writer Mangesh Hadawale, who is known for films like Tingya and Dekh Indian Circus, now, dons the hat of creative producer with Marathi movie Tapaal, directed by cinematographer turned director Laxman Utekar.
Ask Laxman how did he associate with Mangesh and he says, "I had long back thought about making a Marathi film. But when I was shooting as a cinematographer for Mangesh Hadawale's Dekh Indian Circus, I discussed about it with Mangesh and asked him to write a nice story for me. He wrote a beautiful story and that is how Tapaal started."
Adds Mangesh, "I have known Laxman for a long time now. There were many common factors between us like - we haven't taken professional training in filmmaking, we both are hardworking etc. over which we bonded. And he discussed the idea of directing a Marathi film and asked me to write a story.

After being the cinematographer for Bollywood biggies like Blue, English Vinglish, Boss, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil and upcoming film Tevar – Laxman Utekar has added another feather to his cap as he turns director for Marathi film, Tapaal.
Talking about his journey of becoming a director, he says, “I used to get a lot of offers to shoot Marathi films, but I didn’t want to shoot them. I always felt that if I shoot a Marathi film, it will also be directed by me. I didn’t want to shoot for somebody else. Because I was already shooting for people in Hindi films.”
He further adds, “After completing Mangesh Hadawale’s Dekh Indian Circus, I narrated a thought to him about the culture and people of my own village. I asked him whether he could weave a story for me and he did that beautifully. The film is the result of our experiences.

Movie Review: Khatta Meetha; Star cast: Akshay Kumar, introducing Trisha, Urvashi Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Milind Gunaji and Manoj Joshi; Director: Priyadarshan; Rating: *1/2 – Avoid this bitter pill.
Satire is a genre rarely touched by Bollywood mainstream filmmakers, so when a big star like Akshay Kumar decides to co-produce one with a director like Priyadarshan with whom he has never delivered a flop, naturally expectations run high. But what one gets at the end of the day is a migraine inducer. Remake of Malayalam film Vellanakalude Nadu (1988) starring.
