Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld Gets Surprise Early Release
Image
Fans of the popular faraway galaxy have been looking forward to Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld for quite some time. Now, the first two episodes will be available sooner than expected.

Per IGN, Epic Games recently revealed that the first two episodes of the Star Wars anthology series will be available to watch through Fortniteas part of its upcoming Galactic Battle season pass. Players can catch the episodes on May 2 at the Star Wars Watch Party island, which will reportedly focus on former Sith assassin Asajj Ventress' adventures during the Imperial era.

Speaking about the latest Star Wars collaboration, company president Adam Sussman said, "Disney and Epic are pioneering the future of social entertainment together, and this expansive Star Wars collaboration offers a glimpse into the type of interactive experiences we envision. Fan favorite Star Wars prequel character is actually named after George Lucas's son
Image
It's taken a while, but the Star Wars prequel trilogy films are finally starting to get all the widespread love and appreciation they have always deserved. Actors like Ahmed Best and characters like Jar Jar Binks are getting the many apologies they've been long owed. But some characters, like Coruscant diner owner Dexter Jettster, have always been fan-favorites.

You may have always loved Dex, but do you know who he's named after? None other than George Lucas's son, Jett. The nickname "Jettster" really turned out to be a great name for an entrepreneurial Besalisk, even though it was Jett Lucas's first.

Jettster has appeared in the Star Wars Expanded Universe outside the films and TV shows on more than one occasion over the last few years -- most recently in a short story published in the From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi anthology in...

One Rotten Star Wars Film Might Be the Secret to Saving the Franchise
Image
Star Wars is at a crossroads following the cancellation of The Acolyte, which was meant to usher in a new era and expand its storytelling possibilities. Skeleton Crew is the next major Star Wars project on the docket, yet its excitement pales compared to what's come out in the past. Under Disney, Lucasfilm has put out a ton of Star Wars content and while the franchise is still a moneymaker, the interest in new projects doesn't seem to be as high as it once was. The next season of Andor might be the most anticipated series to come from Lucasfilm since the first season has become so highly regarded. Another season of Ahsoka is also in the works, but beyond that, what's next is more scarce on the television side than it has been.

Star Wars hasn't had a live-action film in theaters since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. That...

How Ahsoka's Nightsisters Of Dathomir Became Star Wars' Most Important Force Cult (Even More Than The Jedi)
Image
The Nightsisters of Dathomir are the most important Force cult in the Star Wars galaxy, using dark side Force and dark magick, but not being Sith. The origins of the Nightsisters can be traced back to the 1994 Star Wars novel The Courtship of Princess Leia by Dave Wolverton. Katie Lucas, George Lucas' adopted daughter, played a significant role in expanding the Nightsister lore and bringing them to the screen in "The Clone Wars," making them more important than ever in the Star Wars franchise.

Ahsoka season 1 brought the Nightsisters of Dathomir to live-action, but their origins and their journey to Ahsoka shows that they are the most important Force cult in the Star Wars galaxy. The Nightsisters, also called the witches of Dathomir, were a group of female dark side Force users who resided on the planet Dathomir, a planet that has strong ties to the dark side. The Nightsisters...

Who Did George Lucas' Daughter Play In The Star Wars Prequels?
Image
The "Star Wars" universe is full of colorful creatures and characters which make this feel like a lived-in universe. Likewise, the "Star Wars" movies are full of cameos from both little-known actors at the time, like Rose Byrne or Keira Knightley, and also established celebrities like Daniel Craig and Prince Harry (and almost Nsync). But George Lucas is not just a filmmaker, he is also a family man. When it came time to make the prequel trilogy, Lucas started bringing in his kids — and also himself — into his films in small roles.

Indeed, all three of Lucas' eldest children, Amanda, Katie, and Jett, appear in the prequel trilogy in various roles. Amanda did the voice of one of the Neimoidian controllers in the Trade Federation ship in "The Phantom Menace," as well as one of the senators that work with Bail Organa and Mon Mothma in "Revenge of the Sith,...

How George Lucas Secretly "Voiced" General Grievous In Revenge Of The Sith
Image
George Lucas helped create an iconic Star Wars sound in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The Star Wars experience has always been heavily reliant on sound effects; it’s an integral part of the franchise’s storytelling and immerses the viewer into its fantastical galaxy. Who can forget the first time they heard a lightsaber ignite, the whoosh of the blades as they clash against one another, the distinctive beeps of each droid, or the sound a Tie fighter makes as it charges towards the Rebellion’s ships? These sounds make the Star Wars galaxy come alive.

No Star Wars sound effect is perhaps as iconic as the sound of Darth Vader’s breathing. It’s been used to great effect to highlight his entrances and the terrifying calmness with which he approaches most battles. But there is one other Star Wars villain that also lays...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress Story You Never Saw
Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, David Prowse, and Kenny Baker in La guerra de las galaxias (1977)
This Star Wars article contains spoilers.

Star Wars villain Asajj Ventress remains one of the most popular characters introduced in the Clone Wars era, but she’s missing from The Clone Wars season 7. With the animated series coming to an end, fans might be wondering what happened to this fan-favorite baddie and why she’s not in the final season. Fortunately, this is a plot thread that Lucasfilm did address, but not in the TV series.

Faced with the strangest and most important choice in her life, Asajj Ventress gets one last Clone Wars adventure in Dark Disciple, a novel by Christie Golden built from unaired episodes from the original run of the show. The novel also represents an interesting time in the show’s history.

While The Clone Wars originally went off the air in 2013 after five seasons on Cartoon Network, the animated series found new life on Netflix...

Sam Witwer Explains that George Lucas “Gave Star Wars to the World” in Sale of Lucasfilm to Disney
Actor Sam Witwer is a real Star Wars fan himself. Witwer is the voice of Star Wars’ Starkiller in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game and also the voice of The Son and Darth Maul in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. When the subject the future of Star Wars came up in his Q&A session at this month’s Sci-Fi Expo, Witwer revealed some insider information regarding George Lucas’ intentions for the franchise. Witwer explained that Lucasfilm’s sale to Disney last October really meant that George Lucas “gave Star Wars to the world:”

“Star Wars has always been independent movies. You don’t think of them that way because the scale is so big but they are independent movies. They are independently financed. Little indie movies with budgets of $200 million! So the moment you hear it’s no longer going to be an...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episode 14 – Witches of the Mist

Written by Katie Lucas | Directed by Giancarlo Volpe

“Anakin and Obi-Wan, sent to track down the mysterious figure behind the deaths of several Jedi, soon find themselves on the trail of the monstrous apprentice that Ventress has created: Savage Opress, who has been trained in the ways of the Sith by Dooku.

Dooku sends Opress to Toydaria to capture King Katuunko. However, Dooku and Ventress also discover that this new apprentice has a will of his own.”

The third and final episode in the Ventress/Savage Opress arc, which has a very interesting ending and quite a few links and homages to other areas of the Star Wars universe; The Katarn-class armour wearing clone commandos seen early in the episode are Sev, Fixer, Scorch, and Boss – Delta Squad from the Republic Commando video game and novels. Dooku looming over his...

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episode 13 – Monster

Written by Katie Lucas | Directed by Kyle Dunlevy

“When Count Dooku calls upon the Nightsisters seeking a replacement for Ventress, she and her kin seize the opportunity to exact revenge. Ventress visits the far side of Dathomir and the males of the planet seeking the most brutal and powerful warrior among them. Talzin has Asajj secretly select a warrior from the distant Nightbrother village: Savage Opress. With the power of dark magic, Talzin transforms Savage into a hulking warrior ultimately loyal to Asajj. She then delivers Opress to Dooku, where he will serve as his secret Sith apprentice in a plot to overthrow Darth Sidious.”

A solid episode and after all the previous jumping around in time this season it’d nice to see a continuation to the story begun in episode 12. What impressed me the most was the voice work and manipulation of the voices.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episode 12 – Nightsisters

Written by Katie Lucas | Directed by Giancarlo Volpe

“Troubled by Asajj Ventress’ growing prowess with the dark side of the Force, Darth Sidious commands Count Dooku to eliminate her. But Ventress survives Dooku’s assassination attempt, and the jilted former apprentice vows to take revenge, enlisting the aid of her kinswomen — the mystical Nightsisters — in her sinister scheme.

Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters, veils Asajj and her fellow assassins in a cloak of invisibility, and they infiltrate Dooku’s palace on Serenno. Though they fail to kill the Count, their use of captured Jedi lightsabers leads Dooku to mistakenly believe that the Jedi have tried to kill him. Interested in protection, he requests a new apprentice from Mother Talzin.”

I get the impression that if you’re name is Lucas you can mess with Star Wars continuity, I suppose its George’s...

She's an extremely complicated character,” says Katie Lucas, writer of the three-part Nightsisters arc. “She’s a cold-hearted harpy, but she has good reason to be – and now she’s displaying a much more independent side of herself. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episode 7 – Assassin

“Tasked to protect Senator Padmé Amidala during a political mission to Alderaan, Padawan Ahsoka Tano is plagued by recurring visions of recently-deceased bounty hunter, Aurra Sing. Unable to clear her mind, Ahsoka worries that the stress of conflict is finally getting to her until her visions indeed prove prophetic. Aurra Sign has become the next Boba Fett for Lucasfilm, she appeared for seconds in the Phantom Menace, but has since appeared in comics, novels and games, with her bounty hunting career spanning over seven decades in the Star Wars universe.

This is a great cat and mouse style episode, with Sing becoming more and more Ahsoka’s dark reflection. Actress...

“Chi Eekway and Che Amanwa, Chairman Papanoida’s daughters, are kidnapped and held for ransom. Ahsoka Tano teams up with the Senator from Pantora, Riyo Chuchi, to aid the new chairman in recovering his family before the Trade Federation can unduly influence the future of his planet.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Clip Featuring George Lucas' Papanoida
Star Wars creator George Lucas will see some action in an all-new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. When Pantoran Chairman Papanoida's family is kidnapped and held for ransom, Ahsoka Tano must team up with Senator Riyo Chuchi to aid the new chairman in recovering his family. It's a journey deep into the dark underbelly of the Coruscant crime scene, with an unlikely - and immediately recognizable - protagonist painted into a corner and forced into action in Sphere of Influence, airing at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt Friday, October 1 on Cartoon Network. Here is a video clip from the episode:

Money Saves Lives On The Ground In Haiti
MTV News sent a team of reporters to Haiti to chronicle the recovery effort in the wake of January 12th devastating earthquake. We followed their journey via e-mails, tweets, BBMs and video. Reporter Suchin Pak sent us these recollections of her trip in advance of tonight's Bet telethon, "Sos Saving Ourselves: Help for Haiti."

This is what humanitarian relief looks like first hand. Adonis Garcia is a firefighter in Miami and along with a few other members of his crew, Project Medishare has brought them to Haiti to hand out food and water and to help the doctors struggling with the masses of wounded in Haiti. Medishare is a Florida non-profit founded in 1994 by a pair of University of Miami School of Medicine doctors that has worked to provide modern healthcare services to the people of Haiti.
