- Peter Gammons grew up in Groton, Massachusetts. He attended the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1969, and then began his journalism career at the Boston Globe. He covered the Boston Red Sox for the Globe during most of the 1970s and 1980s. Gammons joined ESPN as a baseball analyst in 1988. He appeared regularly on Baseball Tonight (1990) and also made appearances on SportsCenter (1979). In 2009, he left ESPN and joined the MLB Network.
