Washington -- The Newseum played host Tuesday night for the D.C. premiere of "J. Edgar," a biographical drama on the life of legendary and controversial FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.
Clint Eastwood, who directed the film, was in attendance and was joined by "J. Edgar" screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, Motion Picture Association of America head and former U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), and D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier.
Pam Galloway-Tabb, the Newseum's senior vice president of conferences and special services, told The Huffington Post that the Newseum has hosted roughly 10 film premieres since it moved to its current location at 555 Pennsylvania Ave. Nw in 2008. In keeping with Mayor Vince Gray's recent push to entice more studios to film in the District, Galloway-Tabb said that the Newseum is eager to host more screenings and hopes that film premieres become another facet of its persona.
