Linda and Mr. Fischoeder are teaming up to sing an ode to bananas in a new sneak peek at Sunday’s episode of “Bob’s Burgers,” and who doesn’t love a good duet?
With lyrics like “I like bananas in muffins and scones / I like bananas when I’m making a phone,” the song appears not to be the Hoosier Hot Shots novelty song “I Like Bananas (Because They Have No Bones),” but a completely different song about a different set of reasons to be fond of the yellow fruit.
The clip comes from Sunday’s episode “Copa-Bob-bana,” in which Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) agrees to be the temporary chef at the Fischoeders’ new nightclub. Meanwhile, the kids get a hold of a stock tank and decide to throw a pool party in the restaurant basement.

The animation domination will not be ending at Fox in the near future.
The network has renewed Bob's Burgers for the 12th and 13th broadcast seasons of the Emmy Award-winning animated series, and renewed Family Guy for its 19th and 20th broadcast seasons, carrying both series through 2023.

By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they’ve laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, for Fox Entertainment.

Exclusive: Fox has locked in two of the tentpoles of its Sunday animation block for two more years. The network has renewed flagship Family Guy for Seasons 19 and 20 and the Emmy-winning Bob’s Burgers for a 12th and 13th season. The two long-running series, along with animated stalwart The Simpsons, come from 20th Television.
The Simpsons was picked up for an unprecedented 31st and 32nd seasons in early 2019 as former Fox sibling 20th TV was about to move to Disney as part of a $71.3 billion asset acquisition. I hear talks are underway on a major Simpsons renewal too.

“Bob’s Burgers” is back with a new season later this month and, much like the rest of us, the Belcher family is facing a public health crisis.
A new promo for the upcoming 11th season released by Fox on Tuesday, teases an upcoming episode titled “Worms of In-Rear-Ment” in which a pinworm epidemic hits the local community, derailing Linda’s plans to take her family to the symphony. Maybe not a global coronavirus pandemic, but still pretty bad.
The new season of “Bob’s Burgers” premieres Sunday, Sept. 27 on Fox.

The 68th Annual Writers Guild of America Awards have just concluded with disappointing, though not surprising, results: Spotlight has claimed their award for Original Screenplay, while The Big Short has won Adapted Screenplay (note that there’s no “best” in front of these categories due to their silly rules which excluded several of the top nominees).
As noted earlier, Spotlight and The Big Short still have to go up against the rest of their competition when it comes time for the Oscars, so these might not be the winners on the big night, though it certainly seems like the most likely outcome. The former still has to go up against the brilliantly-written Inside Out, while the latter must still face off against the very popular Room.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

While everyone is still reeling from Sunday’s Breaking Bad finale, here’s a roundup from the lighter, non-Meth side with “Animation Domination” over on Fox (the season premieres of The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad!) and the comic stylings of Stephen Merchant over on HBO (the series premiere of Hello Ladies). When Friends, formerly titled Insomnia Café, first hit TV screens way back in October 1994, no one imagined the worldwide success it would achieve, let alone that the six actors who played the lead roles would become such international stars.
It has not been so rosy since the series ended in 2004, however, as neither David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt Le Blanc, Lisa Kudrow, nor Jennifer Aniston have made noticeable and befitting transitions to the cinema screen, although Aniston, with her sharp comedic talent and spellbinding sexuality, has continually defied expectations, detracting reviews and unappreciative film roles to become something of an underrated winner.
It’s easy to see why she’s had the most success. While there’s no doubt that each member of the Friends cast brought their own talents to the table, it was always Aniston who stole the show as plucky fashionista Rachel Green, and her...

FX has joined forces with Russell Brand and will make a foray into late-night TV with him in 2012.
The cable channel has sealed a deal with the comedian/actor/Katy Perry husband for six half-hour, late-night specials that will debut in the spring. As for Brand? "I am so excited I'm on the point of climax. In fact I will put the 'O' into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel's real name,...

It’s been a busy day for Russell Brand. Fox has picked up an an animated comedy co-created and voiced by British actor-comedian Russell Brand. The network has handed an order for a presentation and a script to the project, produced by 20th Century Fox TV and studio-based Chernin Entertainment. Dan Fybel and Rich Rinaldi, writer-producers on Fox’s animated series Bob’s Burgers, are writing. The project’s concept is being kept under wraps but I hear that it is loosely based on Brand’s life in his 20s. Brand, Fybel and Rinaldi are executive producing with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope as well as Nik Linnen and Beau Bauman of Brand’s Branded Films banner. With the deal, Brand follows into the footsteps of his Get Him To The Greek co-lead Jonah Hill who co-created and executive produces Fox animated series Allen Gregory, also from 20th TV and Chernin Entertainment.

This time last year British funnyman Russell Brand was in the spotlight thanks to his luxury wedding to curvy singer Katy Perry. His recent Arthur re-make co-starring Helen Mirren failed to wow Hollywood but Brand continued to keep his Hollywood career in high gear by talking to 20th Century Fox TV about creating a thirty-minute, prime-time cartoon. Vulture reported today that Brand looked to collaborate with Dan Fybel and Rich Rinaldo of Bob’s Burgers as well as executive producers Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope on the show as a possible addition to Fox’s cartoon lineup.

After taking us back to the 80's with Hot Tub Time Machine, it looks like writers Sean Anders and John Morris are returning to directing. 24 Frames reports the Sex Drive directing duo will be puffing the magic dragon in the director's chair for We're the Millers, a marijuana fueled comedy. The story departs from the usual bumbling antics of pot smokers and instead focuses on an ambitious professional pot dealer who comes up with a scheme to create a fake family to move a large shipment of marijuana across the Us border from Mexico. Sounds less like a typical pot comedy and more like the action infused Pineapple Express. Steve Faber and Bob Fisher (Wedding Crashers) wrote the original script with Dan Fybel and Rich Rinaldi ("The Sarah Silverman Show") writing the most recent draft. Anders and Morris beat out director Burr Steers (17 Again, Charlie St. ...

Is any pot comedy a must-see? I say yes. Not because I'm a pothead, although unlike Clinton, I have inhaled, but because potheads are hilarious! It's been a while since we've had a good stoner comedy. Smiley Face was actually kind of frustrating in the way that stoners occasionally are. There's Leaves of Grass, starring Edward Norton twins, but it will only be in theaters for a very limited run in September with a DVD release in October, and it's not really a pothead comedy per se, anyway. Hopefully, this dry spell will soon be over with New Line's We're the Millers (no relation).
The L.A. Times has the exclusive details about the plot, which is about "a veteran pot dealer [who] decides to create a fake family (the eponymous Millers) to move a large shipment of marijuana across the U.S. border from Mexico." Will wacky hijinks ensue? Will...

HBO led all TV networks in attracting nominations in the 60th anniversary WGA Awards, fetching two noms for dramatic series writing and three for comedy series writing.
In the dramatic series category, HBO's The Sopranos and The Wire are joined by Showtime's Dexter, NBC's Friday Night Lights and AMC's Mad Men.
In the comedy series category, HBO attracted noms for Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage and Flight of the Conchords. Also nominated in the category are NBC's The Office and 30 Rock.
Conchords also attracted a nom in the category of new TV series, where it joins Mad Men, FX's Damages, ABC's Pushing Daisies and Comedy Central's The Sarah Silverman Program.
The WGA's recent news releases have dealt almost solely with its ongoing strike against some of the same companies figuring in the WGA Awards. The guild had planned to release its TV and radio noms today but released the information late Wednesday without previous notice.
"In order to maximize press coverage for the 2008 Writers Guild Awards as well as not compete with Golden Globes' nominees ... we made the decision to go out a day earlier than previously announced," WGA West spokesman Gregg Mitchell said.
Globe noms were released this morning.
The WGA Awards are set for Feb. 9, with simultaneous ceremonies planned at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles and the Hudson Theatre in New York.
