Spoilers for "The Bad Batch" Season 2 Episode 12 - "The Outpost" follow.
Once more, the Bad Batch (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) takes a breather from the continuing narrative and this episode focuses solely on their former member, Crosshair. Crosshair watches on Coruscant as more clones are shipped off into forced retirement and the new Stormtroopers take over. Then, he's assigned to Lieutenant Nolan (Crispin Freeman)to head to a distant outpost to pick up crates of equipment "vital" to the Empire. On the planet Barton-4, they find a snowy wasteland defended by three clones led by one named Mayday. They've been on the planet defending the cargo for more than a year without reinforcements and insurgents have continued attacking them, consistently whittling down their numbers.
When another attack breaks out and the insurgents make off with two crates of important Imperial goods, Nolan assigns Mayday and Crosshair to personally recover them.

A flaw with the Haruhi Suzumiya series lies in its massive fantastical elements. The stories could get really grand, insane and the characters just had to roll with whatever was thrown their way. The animated series never had a sense of real dramatic pay-off. Don’t get me wrong, the storylines are fun to watch but those moments of drama when they did happen captured human emotion brilliantly and you can’t help but wish for more of it. Well, that’s what the movie taps into and excels in turning a story known largely for its comedy into something much more grounded.
The premise of the movie is self-explanatory given what the title is. Haruhi disappears. Literally, Kyon wakes up on a cold December...

When you’re a kid, you imagine a lot of things. We fantasise about epic adventures around things like time travel and supernatural beings like ghosts, espers, aliens. However, most of us grow out of these fantasies because we learn to live with everyday reality bound by the laws of physics. This is an anime that is about all of these eccentric fantasies and brings them to life in hilarious and joyous ways.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya centres around Kyon. On the surface, Kyon is a pretty average high school student (minus the fact that we never learn his real name. Kyon is a nickname). Life for him gets a lot more interesting after he meets Haruhi Suzumiya. Haruhi is far from your typical girl. To quote her directly, “I’m not interested in ordinary people but if any of you are aliens, time travellers or espers, please come see me.

Hiroyuki Imaishi is–in the very best way–one of animation’s finest ambassadors of Adhd. His 2004 directorial debut, Dead Leaves, is a masterpiece of sci-fi action insanity: 50 minutes of delirious stylized motion, featuring ultra-angular “superflat” designs combining the most expressive deformities of Eastern and Western comics and cartoons; a psychedelic adrenaline rush that diffuses the full density of a pulpy jailbreak action flick into half the running time and several times the visual scope. It is the pure cinematic embodiment of a film viewer, and filmmaker, whose bountiful imagination strikes dynamite creative synthesis with a short-fuse attention span. Dead Leaves was a minor event at the time, consigned to direct-to-dvd release overseas and ultimately, perhaps, too aggressively weird and explicit to capture the fancy of either mainstream critics or otaku. But 15 years later, Imaishi–who found breakout success in TV anime and co-founded his own studio, Trigger–has become...

Young Justice: Outsiders gives us three thirds of a good episode broken by pacing issues
This Young Justice review contains spoilers.
Young Justice: Outsiders Episode 4
The first episode of the second batch of Young Justice's return is mostly transitional, and while it's got a lot to like, there are a couple of issues that I'm worried point to a bigger, structural problem that may develop with the show.
When we left our team (not to be confused with The Team), they were kicking ass in Markovia to rescue a bunch of kidnapped kids and the newly powered crown prince. "Private Security" sort of picks up where they left off, but it jumps around in time a little. There are three different thirds of individual good episodes, but there are a couple of tacked on plots that feel like mandatory check ins, and the way they're paced out doesn't integrate at all.

Four-year-old Kun is an only child — this is, until his parents bring home a baby sister named Mirai (the Japanese word for future) and the boy gets rattled by the new addition to the household. Not much there for a full-length feature film … or so you’d think. Except you are in the presence of Japanese animation artist Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, Summer Wars), who again transforms the seemingly conventional into a magic carpet ride of time and memory. It makes all the difference.

Those who aren’t familiar with anything but the cute Teen Titans series are in for quite a surprise as the heroes return to their darker roots in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, which is one of the most incredible efforts from the comics. The feature-length film is inspired by a story arc from the 1984 DC comic, and has an incredible voice cast backing the supremely gritty arc.
The Blu-Ray Giftset, which includes an exclusive Blue Beetle figurine, will hit on April 18th, with Digital HD release on April 4th.
In The Judas Contract, the Titans – Beast Boy, Raven, Blue Beetle, Robin, and Nightwing – are led by Starfire, but their newest teammate, Terra, is throwing the groups dynamic out of whack, and the team comes up against Brother Blood, an ancient evil, and Deathstroke is waiting in the wings to cause problems as well.

With the release of Justice League Dark now being behind us, it’s time that we look forward to the next DC animated film to be released by Warner Home Video, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Originally slated to arrive in 2008, this loose adaptation of the popular comic written by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Perez has finally become a reality and is set to arrive via Digital HD on April 4, with Blu-ray and DVD releases following on April 18, which, to be quite honest, falls within the period we predicted.

Today marked the beginning of a SAG-aftra strike against 11 video game companies. For the first time in the history of the video game actors’ union, which now numbers 165,000, its members have been instructed to withhold their services, effective immediately.
The issues have been simmering since February 2015, when the existing labor agreement between SAG-aftra members and the video game companies expired. Four more meetings over 19 months failed to find a compromise, and SAG-aftra announced the strike effective just after midnight October 21.

Young Justice returned last night with “Targets,” an episode that featured Red Arrow (Crispin Freeman) on a solo adventure in Tapei, Taiwan to keep the League of Shadows from starting a war between North and South Rhelasia, a country that split in half after World War II (much like Korea), where peace has eluded the citizens far too long. Disguised as a bodyguard, Red Arrow was on the lookout for anyone who might have their own idea of peace anticipating the arrival of the peace arbitrator. He spots who he believes is Cheshire (Kelly Hu) an assassin with ties to the League of Shadows who we last saw in episode 106, “Infiltrator.” Aqualad helped confirm her identity from Mount Justice using the vast amounts of data at reach. As usual, Red Arrow declined further assistance from the “junior Justice League” and took Cheshire on himself. He succeeds at thwarting her assassination attempt,...

While I now, of course, appreciate the full genius of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli – I’m only human – it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
Having caught Spirited Away as a teenager, complete with pig parents and a rather spiritless American voice-over, I was clearly ill-equipped to take it in – distracted as I was by Pixar and their at that time peerless pixels. All that changed, however, when I discovered Howl and his absolutely enchanting moving castle.
For those of you who, like a younger me, haven’t discovered Studio Ghibli yet (there’s always one), Howl’s Moving Castle follows the various misadventures of Sophie (Chieko Baishō/Emily Mortimer), a beautiful 18 year-old hat-maker with confidence issues. Unintentionally attracting the attention of Howl (Takuya Kimura/Christian Bale), Sophie invokes the jealous wrath of the Witch of the Waste (Akihiro Miwa/Lauren Bacall), who curses the young haberdasher with...
