Was advised by
Gene Roddenberry to use her initials (D.C.) on her initial scripts for
Star Trek (1966) instead of her first name (Dorothy), because at the time, networks were often biased against female writers. She ended up becoming one of the show's most prolific writers with 11 episodes to her name, as well as contributing to several Star Trek spin-off series.
