Josh Trank got a lot of positive attention for his directorial debut, the 2012 found footage superhero movie Chronicle… then nearly destroyed his career with his follow-up, the disastrous 2015 Marvel Comics adaptation Fantastic Four. He came back with the 2020 biopic Capone, which went straight to VOD during the Covid lockdown. Now, Deadline reports that Trank is putting together his fourth feature film, an independent horror thriller called Send a Scare, which has Robbie Amell (Code 8) and Victoria Justice (Depravity) taking on the lead roles.
Scripted by Tank and Andrew Ryan from an original story by Ryan, Send a Scare centers on an interactive horror startup that gives thrill-seekers a way to send scares to friends and family… but when potential investors host a demonstration, the experience gets hijacked by a real masked killer with a deadly agenda.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 Episode 5 “Til Death.”] Don’t mess with Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox). That’s what the latest episode of The Rookie proves. It was in Episode 4 that the LAPD discovered there’s an unidentified serial killer — while apprehending Harrison Novak (Noel Fisher) — and Nyla ended up in her own mini-horror movie; she was stabbed with a needle and temporarily paralyzed. And so when she returns to work in Episode 5, she’s very determined to find who was responsible. “After having something so traumatic happen to her, she is now jolted into action,” Cox explains on TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow. (Watch the full video above.) Nyla trusts her gut when it tells her that the man they think could be responsible for the killings isn’t and instead, it’s Liam (Seth Gabel), whose vending machine company supplies the hospital they were investigating when she was attacked.

Wow, that hour of The Rookie had it all!
We’re talking horror film tropes and jumpscares, Shameless’ Noel Fisher playing a creepy yet intriguing serial killer, Bailey teaming up with Malvado, hurt Harper, and lying rookies.
Seriously, The Rookie Season 7 Episode 4 was inarguably the strongest hour thus far.
(Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
Here’s the thing — no one will ever accuse a girl of enjoying Bailey storylines. There is something innately irksome about The Rookie Barbie and how she tends to detract from more interesting plots happening on The Rookie.
And this is no exception. The weakest part of this hour was following along with Nolan’s obsessive need to keep Bailey locked away in the house as if she were a princess in a tower and her desire to reject that to extreme lengths.
I’m as over it as Grey was when he told her that she was...

When someone hears the words "ninja" and "turtles," what usually springs to mind is the silly, comical team of reptilian brothers known worldwide as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These brothers -- Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo -- came to the minds of creators Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in 1983. Drawing inspiration from ninja characters they had seen in Frank Miller comics such as Daredevil and Ronin, Laird and Eastman sketched various images of ninja turtles. Soon after the Tmnt comics came out, they became a huge success.
With the success of the comic came the original animated Saturday morning cartoon in 1987, which gave voices to the characters. Likewise, the success of this TV series led to the first live-action movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in 1990, a box office smash hit. Tom Hardy has stood out in a variety of different genres, but he seems to return to crime movies more often than others. Hardy has a reputation as a performer who isn't afraid of taking big swings, whether it be with an odd accent choice or a splashy persona that draws attention to itself. This means that he is often a great choice to play a villain, a gangster, or some other kind of criminal.
Tom Hardy's best movies include actioners like Mad Max: Fury Road and prestige dramas like The Revenant, but one of his major career trends has been his love for the crime genre. Some of the movies which first made him famous were crime movies, and he has repeatedly returned to the genre, always playing criminals rather than lawmen. Hardy possesses an unpredictable quality that makes him a great on-screen bad guy.

Two of the most divisive installments in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise will lose their most prominent streaming home in less than a week. Both the 2014 and 2016 Tmnt films, which star Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and Noel Fisher, will no longer be available to stream on Netflix starting September 1. The Tmnt movies join other franchise titans such as the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies as projects leaving Netflix at the end of the month, as well as the Nutty Professor movies led by Eddie Murphy. In addition to Fox, Arnett, and Fisher, the Tmnt films also star Alan Ritchson, William Fichtner, and Laura Linney, with the original boasting abysmal scores of 20% from critics and 50% from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

When Mike Doyle first appeared on NBC's New Amsterdam as Dr. Iggy Frome's husband, Martin, viewers likely recognized him but may not have been able to place why. Doyle has had notable roles in everything from Shameless to Oz to 2011's A Gifted Man and has appeared in films like Green Lantern (2011) and Jersey Boys (2014). Alongside New Amsterdam, Doyle was in 10 episodes of 2018's The Accidental Wolf as husband Brad to Kelli O'Hara's Katie, but his big claim to fame is on another NBC show viewers may or may not remember seeing him on.

One night, two struggling cartoonists had what turned out to be a billion-dollar idea. What if Frank Miller’s Daredevil had human-sized turtles in it? From that question came the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a quartet of brothers named after Renaissance artists who fought the Shredder and his Foot Clan (a spoof of perpetual Daredevil baddies the Hand). Who could have guessed that the self-published comic Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created would launch a phenomenon, one that survived its first boom in the late ‘80s and crash in the mid-1990s? It has since gone on to become an enduring pop culture franchise which is still going strong after several decades. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael have leaped out of the sewers and into every type of media, including video games and toys. Nonetheless, the characters are never more exciting than when they hit the big screen.

A new image of The Conners season 5 confirms the return of a very familiar Roseanne location. It was announced in October that the ABC sitcom would be staging a reunion of sorts, as William H. Macy had joined The Conners in a guest role. Macy is well-known for playing Frank Gallagher on Shameless, the father of Debbie (played by Emma Kenney). Kenney has since gone on to play Harris on the Roseanne spinoff. It's not the first time that a Shameless star has appeared on The Conners. The show has welcomed other actors from the Showtime drama over the course of its run, including Noel Fisher and Ethan Cutkosky.
Katey Sagal, who plays Dan's wife, Louise, is herself an alum of Shameless and shared scenes with Macy. She'll reunite with him on the January 11 episode of The Conners season 5. According to TV Insider, Macy will play Smitty Cusamano. Cusamano's a...

The cast of Shameless is slowly migrating to The Conners, with William H, Macy, Emma Kenny and Noel Fisher all part of the sitcom now. However, to most of the fans, the three will always be fondly remembered for their roles as Frank, Debbie and Mickey.
The three characters were a big reason why the Showtime series was a major success. And apart from their mannerisms, they always dished out hilarious quotes. But they were not the only ones putting in shifts at the humor departments. Several other characters had hilarious quotes too.

All is going well for Kev as he is watching the spelling video until the word ‘circle’ comes on. To him, it’s quite a shocker that the word doesn’t start with an S.

Shameless fans have yet another reason to check out The Conners after it was announced that William H. Macy, who portrayed Frank Gallagher in the Showtime series, will be joining the cast. Macy becomes the third Shameless alumnus to join the sitcom after Emma Kenney and Noel Fisher.
As for Fisher, the actor has been a part of many great shows lately but to many fans, Mickey Milkovich will always be his most iconic role. The character is adored because of his badass nature as well as his unconditional love for Ian Gallagher. In addition to that, he always comes up with incredible remarks.
“Hey Lip, How Is Your Lip?” “Aunt Ginger”
After assaulting Lip, the Milkovich brothers show up once again at the Gallagher home. There, Mickey, who is yet to be introduced to Ian, mocks Lip about his injured lip.

Shameless might have concluded, but the stars have had no shortage of opportunities. After Emma Kenny, William, H. Macy, and Noel Fisher were cast in The Conners, fans can also look forward to seeing Suzanne Cryer in the upcoming Disney+ series, Percy Jackson & The Olympians.
Wherever the stars end up, fans will be hoping they recreate some of the dialogue magic they had on the Showtime series. Throughout the 11 seasons, Shameless characters were known to say outrageous things, but there are a couple of times when their remarks proved they were good people.

Rest assured, Conners fans: The Powers That Be have not forgotten about their promise to bring an original Roseanne character back to Lanford. It’s just taking a bit longer than we expected.
In September, executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan told TVLine that a character last seen early in the original run of Roseanne (1988-97) was poised to make their first appearance during Season 5 of the ABC offshoot. “I can’t reveal it, but there is someone coming from years’ past,” Helford said at the time. “I think people are going to be very surprised and go, ‘Oh s–t!

Warning: Contains Spoilers for The Conners season 5
Now that The Conners season 5 has announced the sitcom spinoff’s next guest star, an intriguing pattern is starting to emerge. Like its predecessor Roseanne, The Conners uses cameos sparingly. Since The Conners centers around an average working-class middle-American family, cramming in too many recognizable celebrities could easily stretch the show’s credibility.
However, The Conners does appear to make an exception when it comes to former cast members from another sitcom about a poor family working together to overcome their struggles. According to Variety, William H Macy will appear in The Conners season 5 playing Smitty, Dan’s high-school friend who he hasn’t seen in years. Macy will be the fifth Shameless star to appear on The Conners after Emma Kenney (who plays Darlene’s daughter Harris), Ethan Cutoski, Katey Sagal (Dan’s second wife Louise) and Noel Fisher. Theoretically, what sets Peacock’s The Calling apart from the gazillions of other cop dramas already in existence is that its protagonist, Avi (Jeff Wilbusch), is not only deeply religious, but guided by his Jewish faith in his work as a detective. When a greener colleague, Janine (Juliana Canfield), comments in the premiere on his knack for drawing out a suspect by expressing compassion, Avi rejects the notion that it’s merely a professional “trick.”
“The Talmud teaches us to see a single human being as the whole world, that each person is entitled to infinite respect and concern. Everyone is precious,” he loftily informs her, and he means it.
But The Calling, from David E. Kelley, seems only so interested in exploring the nuanced relationship between Avi’s beliefs and Avi’s job, or for that matter in ethical or emotional complications of any sort.

Emmy-winning executive producer David E. Kelley and Oscar winner Barry Levinson lead Peacock psychological crime thriller “The Calling.”
Kelley, known recently for “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing,” serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the series, premiering November 10 on the NBCU streamer. Levinson directs multiple episodes including the pilot, as well as executive produces. Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro are co-composers for the gritty police procedural with a twist.
“The Calling” centers on NYPD Detective Avraham Avraham (Jeff Wilbusch) whose belief in mankind is his superpower when it comes to uncovering the truth. Cameron Monaghan must be a glutton for punishment.
In “Shattered,” the actor plays a wealthy tech guru named Chris who comes to really, really, sincerely regret his fling with the beautiful and mysterious Sky (Lilly Krug). Their meet-cute in the aisle of a supermarket quickly devolves into kidnapping and extortion, with Chris finding himself tied up and brutalized in creatively horrific ways. Think of it as “Fatal Attraction” with buckets of blood.
“Shattered,” which definitely isn’t for the faint of stomach, opens on Jan. 14. Monaghan spoke with Variety about what attracted him to the horror-thriller, working with John Malkovich, and saying goodbye to “Shameless,” the Showtime series on which he memorably played Ian Gallagher, the tough-talking gay man from the wrong side of Chicago who finds happiness with charming delinquent Mickey (Noel Fisher).
Why did you want to make “Shattered”?
“Shattered” came to me pretty late in the process of its development.

Marvel may be well known for keeping their secrets, but it seems the Secret Invasion seems to have become a little less private thanks to some crew listings on IMDb. The new listings appear to show drivers and assistants for a number of big MCU names that have previously not been attached to the upcoming series. The list includes the likes of Samuel L Jackson and Emilia Clarke as expected, but then we see some other names that are a little less expected, including Agent Coulson actor Clarke Gregg.
We have been promised that Jonathan Majors' Kang would be making his presence known in the McU's future projects for some time to come, and his name being on the list looks like that is true. For that very reason, his inclusion in the cast seems a little less of a surprise than it would have been just a month ago.

William H. Macy spent 11 years of his life wearing the shoes of an alcoholic father of six on Chicago’s South Side on “Shameless.” As Frank Gallagher, Macy was awarded with three Screen Actors Guild trophies and earned five consecutive Emmy bids as Best Comedy Actor (2014-18). Now that the Showtime series has wrapped up for good — its finale, “Father Frank, Full of Grace,” aired on April 11 — might Macy receive a goodbye hug from Emmy voters in the form of a nomination?

After 11 seasons of drinking, depravity and debauchery, fans showed up for Showtime’s last call for “Shameless,” the premium cabler’s longest-running series to date, this past Sunday. The final episode of the dramedy and 12th episode of Season 11, titled “Father Frank, Full of Grace,” drew a cross-platform total of 1.5Mm, up 41% versus the penultimate episode (1.1Mm) and 29% over the premiere (1.2Mm).
The 9 p.m. linear telecast on April 11 garnered 695,000 viewers, up 33% from the penultimate episode, and essentially tied with the season premiere’s telecast on Dec. 6, 2020 as the best telecast of the season.
As with all premium series, the bulk of viewing will be delivered across platforms on-demand, streaming and delayed viewing— so the numbers will likely increase once those metrics are factored in. Sunday’s projected on-demand and streaming number, 769,000, jumped by 61% from the penultimate episode and delivered a series high for the show.

No shame in these numbers: The series finale of “Shameless” drew 1.511 million total viewers across multiple platforms, according to Showtime. That’s a season high, 29% better than the Season 11 premiere (1.2 million viewers) and +41% from the comedy’s penultimate episode (1.1 million).
It is a shame, however, that the long-running show is over. The 11-season “Shameless” was Showtime’s most-watched and youngest-skewing comedy. When you factor both of those claims in, it makes sense that “Shameless” was Showtime’s most-streamed comedy series of all time.
Linearly, the 9 p.m. “Shameless” series finale telecast drew 695,000 TV viewers. The rest of the viewing came from streaming and on-demand.
Prior to the launch of Showtime’s over-the-top streaming platform in 2015 (so from 2011-2015), “Shameless” averaged 5.19 million total viewers per episode, according to the premium cable channel. But that giant number includes any and all episodic viewership while the season was in its first run. In other words,...

After 11 seasons, it was truly last call for Frank Gallagher tonight on the series finale of multiple SAG Awards winner Shameless.
Having apparently overdosed in the penultimate episode, the William H. Macy portrayed debauched patriarch evaded his maker one more time to the frustration of his offspring and extended family. However, as son Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and lady love Tami (Kate Miner) face the prospect of another baby as they are barely scraping by and brother Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and hubby Mickey (Noel Fisher) move up the social ladder and contemplate a baby of their own, the dementia inflected Frank is laid low in the end by another adversary that had plagued the final season – the coronavirus.

Before the stars of Shameless go their separate ways, Showtime will bring the Gallagher family back home one last time.
William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkowsky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Cameron Monaghan and Christian Isaiah will join showrunner and executive producer John Wells for a farewell panel on Sunday following the series’ finale. Will Shameless go out with a whimper?
If Shameless Season 11 Episode 9 is any indication, then yes.
While "Survivors" started moving some of the plots along toward a conclusion, there was too much filler that made it difficult to care about any of the events.
Did we really need to follow V's mother to Kentucky? Carol has never been a big part of the series, disappearing shortly after realizing she wanted to keep the kid she was supposed to birth for her daughter.
The series desperately tries to make us believe that V fell out of her mother's life shortly after that, but we need to remember that V is raising two children of her own while simultaneously running a bar.
Carol's comments about no one visiting her were a bit rude when you consider that she could have called V or even went into the bar for a coffee and a catchup.
