Shadows is the latest film from writer/director Michael Matteo Rossi, following his most recent, The Handler. This time out he set some lofty goals for himself, Does he have the talent to back up those ambitions? Will Shadows be his Mean Streets?
Cody is a low-level drug dealer in Los Angeles. He’s estranged from his mother Jewel a crack-addicted prostitute. She swears she clean for good now, but years of living in the foster care system while she said the same thing has left him understandably skeptical of her promises.

Stoker Hills gets down to business early, starting with a lecture on film by Professor Smith. That gets the film’s celebrity cameo out of the way in the film’s first five minutes. It also uses those scenes to introduce the three of his students who will be the film’s leads, aspiring filmmakers Ryan, Jake (Vince Hill-Bedford; American Fighter) and Erica.
While shooting their class project, a zombie hooker film entitled Streetwalkers, which was also Stoker Hills’ original title, a car drives by and stops just long enough to drag Erica in before racing off with Ryan and Jake in pursuit with their camera still running.
They don’t return but the camera is found and two of the town’s cops...

"He's on the move!" Screen Media has revealed the first official trailer for an indie horror film titled Stoker Hills, arriving in theaters and on VOD in January after first premiering last year. The film takes place in the secluded town of Stoker Hills where three college students filming a horror movie find themselves trapped in their own worst nightmare when they are kidnapped by a serial killer. "Their only hope for survival is two detectives who find the camera they left behind in the woods." Another meta concept involving friends making a horror movie and encountering real horror. The film stars David Gridley, Vince Hill-Bedford, Eric Etebari, William Lee Scott, Steffani Brass, Tyler Clark, and Jason Sweat; as well as Danny Nucci, John Beasley and Tony Todd. It looks like there's much more going on than just this serial killer. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Benjamin Louis' Stoker Hills,...

Add another entry to the time loop directory with Joe Carnahan’s Boss Level arriving as this month’s installment of what feels like a regular ritual these days. It’s not socially relevant like The Obituary of Tunde Johnson, emotionally poignant like Before I Fall, genre-bending like Happy Death Day, or irreverently subversive like Palm Springs, but it is entertaining. This is especially true for fans (like me) of the director’s Smokin’ Aces since that’s the title this latest work most closely resembles whether by way of its frenetic pacing, eccentric criminals, or blunt yet quick-witted humor. With sardonic narration dripping with the frustration that comes from constantly waking up to deadly assassins ensuring death arrives before 1:00pm each day, it never tries to be something it’s not.

"Find a place to hide, and stay there." Lionsgate has released a trailer for a horror thriller titled Alone, not to be confused with any of the other films also titled Alone, including the one this year (about a kidnapping). This Alone is another pandemic virus thriller mixed with zombie horror. But the zombies in this are called "Screamers". Aidan barricades himself inside his apartment and rations his food. His complex is overrun by infected Screamers, and with the world falling apart into chaos, he is left completely alone fighting for his life. Tyler Posey stars as Aidan, but the full cast includes Donald Sutherland, Robert Ri'chard, Eric Etebari, and Summer Spiro. So he's not entirely alone in this. Doesn't look like anything really worth it. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Johnny Martin's Alone, direct from YouTube: When an outbreak hits, Aidan (Tyler Posey) barricades himself...

Drug smuggling is a topic that has been covered by TV and film over and over. Some of the most well known include Traffic, Blow and Scarface. Emerald Run though does not cover the trafficking of drugs though, it’s the first movie I have seen that covers the trafficking of emeralds. I mention the drug smuggling movie because this by all intents and purposes is exactly that. Except for the fact that the ‘drugs’ are emeralds, everything else hits the same notes as the movies in that sub-genre.
We see a desperate man (David Chokachi) get involved in a plan to smuggle emeralds across the Mexican border. He believes he has no choice and needs the money to save his daughters life.

“Emerald Run” is one of the weirdest hodgepodges to make its way to theater screens and digital platforms in quite some time. Unfortunately, oddness is just about the only thing this muddled little indie has going for it. Despite the game efforts of lead actor David Chokachi and attractive lensing by Dp Michael Caradonna, the film — directed by Eric Etebari from a script credited to Anthony and Mariuccia Caruso — somehow manages to transition from anodyne desert noir thriller to heavy-handed faith-based melodrama without ever generating sufficient interest to be credible or compelling.
Chokachi plays John Thomas, an unemployed family man who’s understandably anxious about his teenage daughter’s medical condition — some hard-to-diagnose disease is making her life a living hell — and increasingly desperate to find a way to cover mounting medical bills. Anna (Yancy Butler), his devoutly Catholic wife, feels frequent mass attendance and some comforting words from their...

Eric Etebari's action drama Emerald Run, formerly known as Walkout, will have a wide theatrical release in the U.S. on February 21st. Magnificat Media Production produced the flick and Avail Entertainment is distributing it worldwide. The list of B-action stars in Emerald Run is a lengthy one. You got Vernon Wells, Michael Pare, Chris Mulkey, and Steven Williams. Then thre is another reason I can always go back to Hard Target, other than the action, other than Jcvd's greasy coiffure, Yancy Butler. Screen Anarchy has been asked to share an exclusive clip with you today. In the clip it appears that John Thomas, played by David Chokachi, has a briefcase that some gun-toting baddies want. "That's my dog - I want it back." Global Road Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for Oliver Daly's new movie Axl, or A.X.L., about a giant robot dog that becomes friends with a teenager kid. It's inspired by classic 80's family sci-fi movies like Short Circuit and Flight of the Navigator, adapted directly from Daly's own short film Miles, and is more of a kids movie (or "family movie") than an edgy sci-fi concept or action movie like Michael Bay would make. Alex Neustaedter stars as Miles, along with Becky G, Dorian Kingi (as Axl), Eric Etebari, Niko Guardado, Patricia De Leon, Alex MacNicoll, and Madeline Bertani. This is a cheesy trailer with the music, but I have a feeling this might be a cool film - even though it's meant for younger audiences, seems like good fun. The Descent arguably made being stuck underground scary again, with intelligent use of the darkness and just a hint of claustrophobia half of the job of scaring the audience was done before the creatures even made an appearance on screen. Beneath may not want to be compared to Neil Marshall’s movie, but as a fan I can’t help but compare the two.
Beneath may claim it is inspired by true events, but we know that this is a statement that is used as a marketing tool to get attention but means nothing when it comes to historical fact. In the movie we see a crew of coal miners trapped 600 feet below the ground.

*there are some minor spoilers here. Director: Ben Ketai. Writers: Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano. Cast: Brent Briscoe, Kurt Caceres, Eric Etebari and Jeff Fahey. Ben Ketai's (30 Days of Night) second feature film as director is the horror title Beneath. This film was recently released on video-on-demand, through IFC Films. And, this is one horror film that viewers should take notice of. Dealing with trapped miners deep below ground, the writing team of Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano introduce a supernatural element, born of hell. Lots of thrills can be found in Beneath, with the lighting standing out as the film's strongest element. There is a lot of mystery and a lot of tension in this exciting, horror outing. The story primarily focuses on the character Samantha (Kelly Noonan). Sam is visiting her dad from New York and Sam's dad is close to retirement. As a fond gesture, Sam...

"I want you to take a deep breath..." Scared of being stuck in a cave? Are you claustrophobic? This isn't the trailer for you. IFC Films has debuted a trailer for Ben Ketai's Beneath, not to be confused with the other Beneath horror directed by Larry Fessenden. This one is about coal miners who end up trapped after a mine collapse, and one of them is a very pretty coal miner's daughter (go figure), played by Kelly Noonan. The cast includes Jeff Fahey, Eric Etebari, Kurt Caceres, Brent Briscoe. While the synopses seem to hint there's a The Descent like creepiness in the cave, this actually just seems like a solid psychological thriller. Here's the first official trailer for Ben Ketai's Beneath, direct from IFC (via SlashFilm): Synopsis for Beneath from IMDb: A crew of coal miners becomes trapped 600 feet below ground after a disastrous collapse. The film stars Jeff Fahey, Eric Etebari, Kelly Noonan, and Joey Kern as well as Brent Briscoe, Rene Rivera, Mark L. Young, Kurt Caseres, David Shackelford, Ashway Lawver, and Jason Masek.
Patrick J. Doody and Chris Valenziano wrote the screenplay on spec, and former Dimension Films and Screen Gems executive Nick Phillips and veteran casting director Kelly Wagner’s Revolver Picture Company picked it up late last year.
Synopsis
A crew of coal miners becomes trapped 600 feet below ground after a disastrous collapse. As the air grows more toxic and time runs out, they slowly descend into madness and begin to turn on one another. Inspired by true events.

On the one hand, the idea of seeing a classic like The Most Dangerous Game remade is enough to make me queasy. On the other hand, the concept of a man hunting down humans for sport is loose enough to have been tackled more than a few times, and, for as wonderful as it is, Ernest Schoedsack and Irving Pichel’s 8-decade-old thriller is most certainly a product of its time. Plus, Fay Wray’s “other” 1932 film has been remade twice, so how’s that for karma? Creating a new spin will be a challenge as director Steven Lamorte shoots Dangerous Games this August from a script by J. Amanda Sabater. According to the production, the villainous Count Zaroff is now modern-day Colonel Zaroff (who still has a sweet man-hunting lease on a private island), and the protagonist is the host of an outdoorsman reality show. Zaroff will be played by Eric Etebari (The Lincoln Lawyer), the...

There's no doubt the stars who took part in the celebrity triathlon in Malibu this weekend looked great while running, swimming and biking -- but who had the endurance to outperform the rest?Well, Claire Holt of "The Vampire Diaries" isn't just a pretty face. The Australian actress, 24, came in first for the celebrity women. She finished the triathlon in 1:44:31, completing it 26 minutes before her only other celeb opponent: Alison Sweeney, who finished in 2:10:11.Stacked up against the non-celebs, Holt finished 133 overall. As for the men, hottie Geoff Stults (left) came in second with a time of 1:40:26 and Max Greenfield from "The New Girl" came in fourth. Little known actor Eric Etebari placed first. And Jon Cryer had to drop out of the race after a bike accident on the course left him battered and bruised.Other celeb attendees included "Suburgatory" stud Parker Young...

General Hospital's New Head Writer Garin Wolf Looks to the Future
"The mob will still be there but it will become a background for the emotions of the characters. The Spencer family, the mob, the hospital, will all have equal weight. I probably shouldn't say this, but so will Wyndemere. Everyone has a story, no matter who they are. Everyone can make you laugh and cry."
"There's not a character on this show who is mined out yet. There's always something we haven't seen, a twist on a character we think we know but really don't. I love the idea of pinball characters."
Why Brands Aren’t Leveraging Independent Producers for New Media Content
Branded entertainment provides companies with a great method to connect with consumers and build an online presence to promote their products. Not talking product placement, but product integration directly into the story. Many brands have...

Seems everyone is attempting to move back in to controversial horror territory of late, which can be a good thing. Not always, but it's good to push boudaries. Maybe not as far as 'The Human Centipede II' is attempting to do currently, however, its new forced abortion thriller 'The Life Zone' from director Rob Weber that seems to be taking the brunt of critism also of late. It's not surprising that a film that deals with several doctors forcing a group of young women to have their babies, against their wills is going to raise serious issues and take on serious comments. The movie stars ex-Playboy model Angela Little (below) as one of the abductees from an abortion clinic. Robert Loggia, Lindsey Haun, Charles Durning, Martin Kove, , Katarzyna Wolejnio, Blanche Baker, Tara Buck, Thomas G. Waites, Eric Etebari and Rachael Robbins all star. You can check out the new official trailer below.

Find yourself on the receiving end of an unwanted pregnancy? Thinking about having an abortion? How dare you assume that you can do with your body what you wish! Finally there's a madman ready to stifle that ludicrous conclusion! A right-to-lifer with methods so misguided that the recently departed Jack Kevorkian would call him extreme!
Below you'll find the first trailer for the pro-life horror film The Life Zone written and produced by Kenneth Del Vecchio and directed by Rod Weber.
The film follows what happens when a grumpy old man kidnaps pregnant women from abortion clinics and forces them to give birth. Just when you think you've heard it all, right?
Even more shocking? Check out the cast ...
The Life Zone features an all-star cast, including Robert Loggia (Academy Award and Emmy nominee; Scarface, Big, Independence Day), Lindsey Haun (Broken Bridges, Shrooms, "True Blood"), Angela Little (American Pie Bandcamp...

Matthew McConaughey in The Lincoln Lawyer
Photo: Lionsgate Courtroom dramas seem to have been primarily relegated to television as of late. While I've found enjoyment in shows such as "The Practice" and the first season of "Boston Legal," most of these television series don't really do it for me. I like my courtrooms in feature length form such as film like Witness for the Prosecution, A Few Good Men, The Verdict and A Time to Kill. While The Lincoln Lawyer can't stand alongside any of those films it is still a decent watch, even if it has more twists and turns than any movie I can remember ever seeing and it isn't exactly all that inventive.
Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe) is a fancy pants Los Angeles playboy and he's suspected of raping and beating a prostitute. Matthew McConaughey plays the smooth talking lawyer Mick Haller, a role tailor made for the oft-shirtless Texas native.
