Best known for his voice work as Batou in the English-language dubs of Ghost in the Shell (1995) and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002), as well as the video-game versions of the English-language dubbed Ghost in the Shell series.

Is one of the only English-speaking voice actors and to voice the same character of all of the Xenosaga video game series. Richard was the only voice actor to provide the English voice of Ziggy in the series.

Now owns and operates the Los Angeles based voice production company, "Epcar Entertainment, Inc." along with his wife Ellyn Stern. (2008)

In 2018, Mark Hamill gave his seal of approval on Twitter for Richard Epcar's portrayal of the Joker in the Injustice games.

He is the first actor to portray both The Joker from DC Comics and Raiden from Mortal Kombat. He portrayed the two at the same time in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (2008), Injustice 2 (2017) and Mortal Kombat 11 (2019).

Directed the Polish dubs for DreamWorks films such as Gladiator (2000) (he also provided ADR for the English version), The Road to El Dorado (2000) and Chicken Run (2000).

Provided the vocal efforts for Colossus and the Juggernaut in Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).

Richard approved of Ben Affleck's performance as Batman and wished he would return for a standalone Batman film.

His mother died when he was just fifteen.

As of October 2021, he now shares four roles with Akio Otsuka. Three of them are Tera Xehanort, Batou and Daisuke Jigen.

He had an older sister, Carole Epcar Fisher, who died in 2009 at the age of 62.
