A second round of Broadway producers has pledged to match $1 million in donations to the Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Fund of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, bringing the total producer-funded matching challenge to $2 million.
The second challenge includes producers of Hadestown, West Side Story, Company, The Phantom of the Opera, The Lehman Trilogy, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Six, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, To Kill a Mockingbird, Come From Away, Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations, Beetlejuice, Mrs. Doubtfire, Mean Girls, The Minutes, Jagged Little Pill, The Book of Mormon and Dear Evan Hansen.

Tina Turner appeared on the second cover of ‘Rolling Stone’ on November 23rd, 1967 — the first frontwoman in the publication’s history. Now ‘Tina,’ the musical based on her life and music, opens on Broadway November 7th. In anticipation of the queen of rock & roll’s Broadway debut, Turner — who turns 80 years old on November 26th — penned this personal essay for ‘Rolling Stone’.

Tina – The Tina Turner Musical has set a Nov. 7 opening date for its Broadway production, with Adrienne Warren reprising her acclaimed London performance in the title role.
Tina will begin previews at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the official opening date of Thursday, Nov. 7, producers announced today.
The previously announced Warren will continue to play Turner in London’s West End through April 13. Further casting for the Broadway production will be announced soon.
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd and written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, Tina features choreography by Anthony van Laast, with set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, musical supervision, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Jeff Sugg and orchestrations by Ethan Popp.

Dutch entertainment mogul Joop van den Ende is one of Europe’s savviest producers of movies, TV and legit, but he just can’t catch a break on Broadway. David Goldberg will step down as chairman and CEO of Endemol North America in December, the company announced today. Goldberg had been with Endemol since launching the the U.S. outpost of the Dutch production company, originally founded by Joop van den Ende and John de Mol, in 2000. He will continue to work with Endemol as a consultant for its successful syndicated daytime show Steve Harvey, which he championed. Goldberg also started a scripted division of Endemol USA, which co-produces AMC’s Hell On Wheels and Low Winter Sun. The company’s unscripted slate include CBS’ Big Brother and ABC’s Wipeout. “It is time for me to try something new and I am excited about the possibilities,” Goldberg said. There are no decisions on his replacement. Endemol USA’s upcoming reality shows include Fox’s Step Up, NBC’s Wall Of Fame hosted by Anthony Anderson and ABC’s Sing Your Face Off.

Sylvester Stallone is doing his very best to keep the Rocky Balboa franchise alive. After five sequels, a novelization, and several video games, Sly has taken his sleeper hit to the stage, recruiting Tony Award-winning song writing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty to produce what every boxing fan and show tune devotee have been waiting for -- "Rocky: The Musical."
The epic stage adaption premiered in Hamburg, Germany to enthusiastic audiences and critics who were taken with the singing version of the Italian Stallion. Now the musical is attempting to bring the boxing song-and-dance to Broadway, reports The New York Times.
“We know New York right now is one step higher artistically and commercially than Europe,” said Joop van den Ende, the founder and owner of Stage Entertainment, the company behind "Rocky: The Musical," to the New York Times. “There is much work to do to make ‘Rocky’ better and better.
