Chilean Jorge Durán has been living in Brazil since 1973 and is considered one of the most important scriptwriters in the country. He has written the screenplay of several Brazilian classic films, such as "Lúcio Flávio" (Lucio Flávio, o passageiro da agonia, 1977) and "Pixote" (1981), both directed by Hector Babenco, and "Gaijin" (1979), directed by Tizuka Yamasaki, amongst many others. As a filmmaker he directed his own screenplays "The Color of your Destiny" (A Cor de seu Destino, 1986) and "Forbidden to Forbid" (Proibido Proibir, 2006). "The Color of your Destiny" was screened at Panoram of the Berlinale in 1987 and has received various awards. "Forbidden to Forbid" has received more than 20 international film festival awards between 2006 and 2007, including Best Film Award at Biarritz, Marseille, Cartagena, Bogotá and Viña del Mar film festivals; Best Original Screenplay and Best Director at Huelva Film Festival, Jury Special Prize at Havana Film Festival, Audience Award-Best Film at Utrecht International Film Festival and Best Director at Valdivia Film Festival. "Love is All We Need" (Não Se Pode Viver Sem Amor, 2011), was his third film, which had its world premiere at the Guadalajara Film Festival in Mexico, and has been shown at more than 10 national and international festivals, having received several awards. His forth film "Romance Policial" (2015) was a co-producion between Brazil and Chile. Your world premiere was at Knight Competition, in MIFF (Miami Internacional Film Festival) and has been selected at more than 10 internacional festivals. In 2019 was produced "Streets Of Rio" (Pelas Ruas Do Rio), a documentary that has the city of Rio de Janeiro as a theme based on its inhabitants and its relations with the spaces that compose it. Will be release in 2020.
