Short of the DayFrom writer-director Pardis Parker.
As a parent-to-be of two adopted children, I can tell you firsthand that home visits from social workers are stressful under the best of circumstances. Someone has come to your house, your sanctum, to evaluate and scrutinize every detail of it and you and gauge whether or not you’re a worthy caretaker, and you never really know what’s going to reflect poorly on you until it does. But if I were to make a list of things you don’t want to happen while entertaining a home visit, near the top without a doubt would be “guy shows up unexpectedly, covered in blood, with a dead cow he needs help milking.”

It's almost September, which means a whole new slew of titles on Netflix! August proved pretty lucrative on the quality title front, but it looks as though September it's going to blow the rundown out of the water.
TV takes spotlight this month, with the latest full seasons of "The Walking Dead," "New Girl," "The League," "The Blacklist," "Arrow," "Bones," and "Parks and Recreation" primed and ready for streaming before their fall premieres. And fans still mourning the loss of "How I Met Your Mother" (in more ways than one) can rewatch the ninth and final season to their heart's content. Ah, memories. Showtime's recently departed "Californication" can be seen in its entirety (Seasons 1 -7) as well, starting September 1. That's a lot of TV.
Movie fans have plenty to look forward to from Netflix in September, too. Sam Raimi's undersung 1998 thriller "A Simple Plan" hits the streaming service September...

Haven is careening towards a season finale that is coming far too soon, as it does every year. Tonight’s new episode is number 11 of 13 for the season. Eric Balfour (Duke) told me last month that this is his favorite episode of the season, because guest stars Danny Masterson (Men at Work, That ‘70s Show) and Kris Lemche (Joan of Arcadia, Ghost Whisperer) are his offscreen friends. Friends who are playing… the Darkside Seekers!

Nice twist at the end of last week’s Haven! If you missed it, you really must go watch it on VOD, it was a terrific episode. And of course there was the whole Nathan’s dream situation, which I’ll not go in to here. Just go watch. Go on.
The new “Inside Haven” featurette doesn’t have any major spoilers from last week, but it does have a very cool look at how they create the effect of someone being shot by a gun, and in this case the victim is not surprisingly Sheriff Dwight, the bullet magnet.
The next episode looks like it will continue to move the main storyline along while still uncovering a Trouble of the Week, a combination at which the good folks behind Haven are expert. This week’s trouble looks like it’s an air pressure thing, which results in some pretty cool effects.

You know that dream everyone seems to have at one time or another, when you’re naked and (fill in the blank – on stage/in class/at the office) in front of clothed people? How about the one where you have a test for a class you forgot to drop? On this week’s Haven, according to the TV spot and clip, that’s what happens to Nathan (Lucas Bryant). And So. Much. More. We don’t know whose trouble it is, but who cares?
First, though, we have an “Inside Haven” featurette, this week about Haven‘s music, with composer Shawn Pierce.

I love Haven. Love it. It has the perfect balance of big mythology, monster of the week, character development, cast chemistry, charm, edge, and setting, and I can’t get enough of it. This week’s episode is a perfect example of all of those things, along with a new character that I hope will be a returning one. You’ll see her in the clip below, which also happens to be my favorite scene of the episode.
When I spoke last week with Adam Copeland – yes, Edge, WWE fans – who plays Haven‘s former cleaner and new sheriff Dwight, he said that 406 was his favorite episode of the season. Now I’m not sure he actually meant this one, because he isn’t even in it, but is a really good one.

So we have Audrey back, but she’s not Audrey, she’s Lexie. I like Lexie, she’s fun, but she’s no Audrey. Will we get Audrey back by the end of the episode? Or the end of the year? We’ll just have to tune in to tonight’s new episode of Haven and find out.
In the meantime, we will be certain to have someone’s new trouble to deal with, and Duke’s brother, and adorable Jennifer, plus our beloved Nathan, Duke, Dwight, and Vince and Dave, so it’s all good.

I know that the majority of the “location” scenes in Syfy‘s beloved Haven are shot someplace cool and/or interesting in or around Halifax, Nova Scotia. So I was quite surprised to learn that the sewer scenes from last week’s episode were shot in a created set. You too can learn more about that in the “Inside Haven” featurette we have for you, followed by a TV spot for tonight’s new sure-to-be-excellent episode.

One of the things that Syfy‘s very excellent Haven does very well is to integrate new characters into the show. It helps when the new character is played by someone who is already beloved by Syfy fans, and that’s certainly true of Colin Ferguson, who for six years played Sheriff Jack Carter on Eureka.
Ferguson and Haven star Emily Rose recently took time to talk with the press about the new season and their new characters. Ferguson plays the mysterious William, and Emily Rose is playing Lexie, a fourth version of the the woman whose previous incarnations included Sarah, Lucy, and Audrey Parker.
Here they are in a clip from last week’s episode:

How excellent was last week’s Season 4 premiere of Haven? (Correct answer: Oh So Excellent, or in the alternative, It Was Completely Excellent). The new cast members fit in seamlessly, and although many of our favorites found themselves in new and very different situations, it was terrific to have them back on our screens.
As I said in my review, Lucas Bryant really knocked it out of the park with his portrayal of Nathan as devastated, destroyed, a shadow of his usual self. I spoke with him recently and asked him if things would be getting better for Nathan soon:
There are some happy moments definitely for Nathan, but sadly, they seem to be fleeting. You know that’s just the way it has got to go. When things start looking too good, you have to just smash it all to pieces, right? Especially in the first half of the season,...

After the now infamous Haven episode “Sarah” aired, all fans want to know is if Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) did actually have intimate relations with Audrey Parker’s former self Sarah, when he was zapped back to 1955 – and better yet, if the offspring from that liaison is James Cogan, aka The Colorado Kid?
From everything we know so far, it is entirely possible because Sarah Vernon (Emily Rose) never told anyone who the father of her son James was before she vanished leaving James to be raised by the kindly June Cogan in Colorado. In addition, Sarah seemed only too willing to seize the day and cherish whatever sweet moments she could with Nathan before he returned to his own timeline.
Yet when the Bolt-Gun Killer told Audrey as he held her captive that she was not the only one who loved The Colorado Kid, it makes us wonder: why...

We all know that we Brits love a good deal – you only have to look at our seemingly unquenchable love for all things Groupon or our addiction to a TV show where a bearded millionaire conducts imaginary conversations about empty boxes to realise that. So what if I told you you could buy yourself six full seasons of the greatest sitcom ever made for under eighteen quid? I think I already know the answer when I ask (with a respectful tip of the cap to Entourage’s Bob Ryan) – is that something you might be interested in?

Haven plus Twitter. For me, it’s like chocolate plus peanut butter. Heaven. Starting with this Friday’s episode, one of the stories on Haven will be played out on Twitter, with references during the episode. And not just for one episode; this story will have a 7-week arc. No show has ever incorporated Twitter to this extent before.
To follow the story on Twitter you’ll need to be following @VinceHaven, @DaveHaven, and @ColdInHaven and/or use the hashtag #HavenNews – Vince and Dave, after all, are the brothers who run the local paper the Haven Herald. Considering it debuts in just a few weeks, you'd think Syfy would have opened up a "Haven" Facebook page long before now, but in any event, it's finally live and has five pictures from the set along with a fresh piece of key art.
Below are said artwork and two of the photos. To see the rest, click the following link or on the poster to visit the new official "Haven" Facebook page. But first, a little refresher.
Adam Kane ("The Mentalist," "Heroes") is at the directorial helm for the series' pilot episode for the Syfy Channel and Showcase Television in Canada. Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, Richard Donat, and John Dunsworth all star.
Filming is taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia under the creative eyes of Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller – the showrunners responsible for all six seasons of The Dead Zone series. Scott Shepard is executive producing alongside the King-familiar duo.

SyFy’s new series “Haven” brings another Stephen King story to television. “Haven” is based on the Stephen King novella “The Colorado Kid”. In the series, Haven is described as a place “where people with supernatural abilities have migrated for generations because it mutes their powers, allowing them to lead normal lives.”
“Haven” stars Emily Rose (“Damages”) as Audrey Parker, an FBI Agent who uncovers the secret of the small town of Haven, Maine in her investigation of the murder of a local ex-con.
SyFy’s Evp of Original Programming, Mark Stern, compares this new show to another SyFy original series “Eureka”:
“It felt like a good companion to Eureka… but from a different perspective. Haven is like the Stephen King alternative to [Eureka], not the dark, grim Steven King version of that but the ‘Green Mile‘ version of that with people beginning to experience strange supernatural abilities but not being aware of it.

If you liked the TV series Trailer Park Boys, you'll probably be delighted to hear that Showcase, a Canadian cable network, is preparing a new original comedy series. In fact, yesterday, Showcase announced that its new comedy series The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour has been in production since May 26 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
