- Son of Arthur Donovan
- Professional football player. Defensive tackle with NFL's Baltimore Colts (1950; 1953-1961) New York Yanks (1952), and Dallas Texans (1952).
- During his 12 years of playing professional football, he was named Outstanding Defensive Tackle.
- Played in five all-pro games plus the World Championships in 1958 and 1959.
- The Colts retired his uniform number '70' after he himself retired from pro-football (1962).
- Was the first Baltimore Colt to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1967).
- Grandson of Mike Donovan.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1970.
