Boondock Saints Director Gleefully Admits He Ripped Off Quentin Tarantino For Willem Dafoe Scenes
Image
The Boondock Saints director Troy Duffy gleefully admits that he ripped off Quentin Tarantino for the Willem Dafoe scenes. Written and directed by Duffy in his feature debut, the 1999 film follows Irish twin brothers who turn into vigilantes after killing two Russian mobsters in self-defense and, following a shared epiphany, the brothers embark on a mission to cleanse Boston of its criminal underworld in the name of God, all while being tracked by an FBI Agent. The movie stars Willem Dafoe, Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, David Della Rocco, and Billy Connolly.

During an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for the film's 25th anniversary, Troy Duffy gleefully admitted that he ripped off Quentin Tarantino for the Willem Dafoe scenes in The Boondock Saints. Duffy admired how Tarantino used nontraditional flashbacks in Reservoir Dogs and decided to "rip him off" by adopting a similar approach, but with his own personal spin.

Norman Reedus' Return Means Boondock Saints 3 Must Break The Franchise's Rotten Tomatoes Streak
Image
Boondock Saints 3 aims to surpass the poor critical reception of the first two movies. The original film was critically panned but gained a cult following on home video. Boondock Saints 3 needs a simpler story and more focus on comedy to succeed.

The Boondock Saints 3 has been confirmed to be in development, and it needs to break the unflattering record the series currently has with Rotten Tomatoes. Released in 1999, The Boondock Saints follows Connor and Murphy MacManus, a pair of brothers in Boston who become vigilante killers targeting one of the larger mobs in town. The film's hyper-violence and dark comedy made it highly controversial when it was released, leading to a critical drubbing and a major box-office disappointment.

However, the film eventually became a cult classic that generated a sequel (that also failed to earn many critical raves). With a third Boondock Saints on the way with Norman Reedus and...

Norman Reedus Reveals How The Boondock Saints 3 Begins
Image
After over a decade in development hell, The Boondock Saints III is finally happening. Norman Reedus, who co-led the previous two entries, recently teased what fans can expect when the long-awaited threequel finally hits the big screen.

While speaking with Screen Rant to promote his upcoming movie, The Bikeriders, Reedus opened up about returning to one of his earliest roles, Murphy MacManus, in The Boondock Saints III. "It's happening. There's sort of a rough outline of a script. The opening sequence, I think they're keeping from that rough outline because it's crazy. It's crazy. It's basically the boys breaking out of prison. That's how it starts." The first two Boondock Saints movies never shied away from going all out with their action sequences, something that Reedus suggests will not change despite the omission of franchise creator Troy Duffy as director.

Norman Reedus Reveals Where The Boondock Saints 3 Will Pick Up the Series
Image
Norman Reedus reveals The Boondock Saints 3 will start with a wild prison break, promising an action-packed opening sequence. Despite rocky beginnings, the original cult classic has evolved into a fan-favorite franchise with a strong following over the years. The new movie, produced by Thunder Road, is said to focus on new "Saints" and may feature return appearances from familiar faces like Willem Dafoe.

The Boondock Saints will be returning for a third chapter in their storied history, and star Norman Reedus has revealed when The Boondock Saints 3 will pick up the story following the events in the 2009 sequel. Released on January 21, 2000, The Boondock Saints became a commercial flop after being shown in just five theaters thanks to distribution issues, and earning $35,000. The film would find new life on home video, earning more than $50 million in sales over the years, leading to The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day in 2009. Like its predecessor,...

Image
A third movie in The Boondock Saints franchise is now in the works. Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are set to return as the gun-toting brothers. The plot for Boondock Saints 3 will focus on the introduction of new "Saints."

The Boondock Saints are back, with a new movie in the action thriller franchise now in the works. Both Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are all set to return as the gun-wielding brothers Murphy and Connor MacManus, with Thunder Road, the producer behind the John Wick movies joining forces with rights holder Dragonfly Films to create this “expansion” of the series, which centers on two vigilante brothers who wage a war on crime in their hometown of Boston.

According to a report by Deadline, director Troy Duffy, who helmed both the 1999 original The Boondock Saints and the 2009 sequel The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, will not return for...

‘The Boondocks Saints’ Prequel That’s Happening for Some Reason Is Seeking Donations — Watch
Troy Duffy
“The Boondocks Saints” franchise is still alive and coming to your TV.

Troy Duffy’s 1999 film starred Sean Patrick Flannery and Norman Reedus as Irish American twin brothers Connor and Murphy MacManus, who took it upon themselves to take on the evil Russian mobsters in Boston. Despite critical panning and only getting an initial release in five theaters for one week due to the Columbine High School massacre, the film gained a cult following from its international release and DVD sales. In 2009, Duffy released a sequel, “The Boondocks Saints II: All Saints Day.”

While details about the plot are under wraps for “The Boondocks Saints: Origins” TV series, Don Carmody Television (Dctv) launched its fan-focused pre-order campaign that is seeking donations at BoondocksBack.com. While fans can donate any amount, the campaign has also created merchandise incentives in three increasing tiers. All three tiers will receive a box of “The...

Event Report: Wizard World Minneapolis
Set to visit 16 cities in 2014, Wizard World’s plethora of comic book booths, clothing vendors, and impressive line-up of celebrities are always enough to sate the appetite of any pop culture enthusiast, but prior to their visit to Minneapolis May 2nd–4th, I was wondering how much horror would be had in the aisles within the Convention Center’s cavernous confines.

As it turns out, Wizard World had more than enough entertainment for horror fans to dig into, and they picked the perfect horror headliner for Wizard World Minneapolis: Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger, the living legend of our nightmares and realities.

One of my first destinations upon entering Wizard World Minneapolis was Robert Englund’s booth. I weaved my way through a crowd of eye-grabbing cosplayers—Hellboy, Darth Maul, and a perfectly matched Spider-Man and Black Cat couple were of particular notice—before stepping in line to...

After two feature films and a graphic novel, the vigilante brothers from Boston known as the Boondock Saints are making their way back to the big screen for a final chapter. The Badass Celebrity Smack Down
Comicpalooza, Texas' premier comic book and pop culture convention, is gearing up for its Memorial Day weekend run in Houston (May 25–27). And while last year was great, this year there's something very special planned.

With a lineup crammed full of stars such as Michael Biehn (The Terminator, The Victim), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Andromeda), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), George Takei (Star Trek) and Kristin Bauer (True Blood), the upcoming convention is already pretty extraordinary. But Comicpalooza founder John Simons has devised an event to make 2012's fest even more kickass...if that's even possible.

Simons had an epiphany recently. "The next best thing to being a sci-fi or action hero," Simons told me, "has to be shooting a sci-fi or action hero with a gun — or maybe being shot by one." And this simple thought led him to conceive a bit of...

'Chucky' Star, 'Walking Dead' Join Bloodbath At Eerie Horror Film Festival
Erie, Pa. -- Economic protesters were sidelined in downtown Erie last weekend, when ghosts and ghouls occupied the city's famed Warner Theatre. No, there was no zombie outbreak -- at least not this time around -- but a celebration of all things frightful by like-minded fans at the 8th annual Eerie Horror Film Festival.

The four-day festival and expo featured dozens of films, screenings, celebrity appearances and a variety of booths selling books, posters, clothing and collectibles.

Two of the big draws to this year's festival were guest appearances by Alexander Vincent and Norman Reedus.

Vincent was 6 years old in 1988 when he played the role of Andy Barclay in the 1988 horror film "Child's Play." He also starred in the 1990 sequel, "Child’s Play 2." Vincent, now 30, said he was not traumatized by starring in the films opposite "Chucky," a doll possessed by the soul of a mass murderer.

Boondock Saints TV Series Moving Forward
Troy Duffy
There has been no official word on a sequel to The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. But now it seems a TV series may be crafted instead of a third movie.

Troy Duffy, who wrote and directed both Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, has revealed that there is interest in turning the franchise into a weekly Boondock Saints show.

Here's what the writer-director had to say below, indicating that franchise stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus would return as the McManus brothers for this small screen project.

"We've been approached to do a possible Boondock Saints TV series. So the fans may be getting a part 3 as a television show. We might be able to pull that off....I actually called both Sean and Norman and they both said 'Hell yeah, we'll drop everything.'

When asked if the possible TV suitor is...

Tfw Q&A: The Boondock Saints
The Boondock Saints get wild and rowdy as they discuss current projects, Boondock Saints 3, and the incomprehensible genius of David Della Rocco.

*Warning: Mature language throughout

It was a rare treat this past weekend to sit in on the Q&A with the stars of one of the greatest films ever conceived, The Boondock Saints.  Now while the sequel didn't do as well as everyone had hoped, that still hasn't slowed Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and David Della Rocco one bit.

Norman was on hand promoting The Walking Dead on AMC, Sean had Sinners and Saints coming out, and David...well, David had some interesting things to say.  You'll see what I mean.

Having Rocco and the MacManus brothers together for the first time in a long time was one of the downright funniest experiences in my life and I hope it blows your mind like it did mine.

Tfw Red Carpet Event
More legends of horror than you can shake a gore-stained machete at!

I had the supreme honor this weekend to have had a place secured on the Red Carpet for the opening of Texas Frightmare Weekend 2011.  The opportunity to meet and greet some of the biggest names in cinema and horror was amazing as the photos below will show.

Each of them a legend, the stars came out to celebrate not only the genre they love so dearly, but the genre some of them helped to create.

A gentleman and a scholar, iconic German actor Dieter Laser was friendly and fun to hang out with despite what The Human Centipede made you think of him.

Joining Dieter Laser, the man behind the sickness that was The Human Centipede, rock star director Tom Six was an awesome addition to the Red Carpet.

He made us laugh, cry, and piss our pants as the nefarious Captain Spaulding,...

Massive Updates for Texas Frightmare Weekend
Tons of new stuff has been coming out for the upcoming Texas Frightmare Weekend, which is shaping up to have its biggest year yet. And quite frankly, I'm jealous I won't be there.

First we have the unveiling of the con's first ever full-color program guide. Weighing in at 32 pages, each attendee will get one free at registration. It's chock-full of all the vital details you will need to make the most of your weekend in Texas, including guest info, vendor and guest maps, a full schedule, a map of the hotel, and the biggest news: a first look at the 2012 Tfm location.

This is a pretty cool takeaway for visitors with a boss cover designed by Matt Orsman and program layout by Lindsay Babroski of Mouse Tamer Designz.

In case you won't be there, you can still check out the program guide below. Consider it motivation to be there next year.

I'll take one of these! Synopsis:

Recapping Horrorhound Weekend 2011, Indianapolis. It was non-stop Fun!
HorrorHound Weekend 2011, Indy was the most postive and fun I've experienced to date and I've hit quite a few film fests and conventions in my day. I know one thing, they expected 14,000 horror fans and there were more than that. I don't know if there's a final head count yet. Like always, I thought I'd share a few pictures with you and let you a know a little of what went down. I'm proud to say GeekTyrant had a huge presence at this HorrorHound! I want to personally thank Nathan from HorrorHound for letting me be a part of this and Jason Hignite for putting this together and helping to make it happen!

First up, I can' t think of a better way to say "Welcome to HorrorHound Weekend" then have actress and friend Erica Soto standing in front of one of the Hh banners!

First Batch of Guests Announced for Creation's October Weekend of Horrors
Creation's Weekend of Horrors is returning to the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel this October 15-17, and aside from Bruce Campbell, we haven't known who's going to be there. Well, that's about to change as the first group of guests has recently been announced.

Here's who you can look forward to seeing there:

Bruce Campbell

For the last few decades, Bruce Campbell has been one of the most recognizable faces and entertaining actors in genre cinema and television. Besides starring as "Ash" in the Evil Dead series, he's been seen in films such as Spider-Man and Sky High, played elderly Elvis in Bubba Ho Tep and appeared in now-classic (well, kinda) TV series such as "The Adventures of Brisco County", "Jack of All Trades" and "Xena: Warrior Princess". He can be seen now as former Cold War spy Sam Axe in the USA cable series "Burn Notice". Appearing Saturday only.
