Chicago – One of the oddest feats of the early millennium was a five year odyssey by endurance athlete Serge Roetheli, who set out to run across five continents – in the equivalent of one marathon a day – with his wife Nicole following along via motorcycle. The film of this journey is “The 25,000 Mile Love Story,” directed by John Davies.
The quest, which is tempered by the fact that Serge and Nicole – who live in Switzerland – took it on partially for charity, is a crazy quilt of extreme conditions, daily camping and gallons of Coca-Cola (which Serge insisted was better than water for running). The adventure is interrupted by disease, accidents and weather conditions, but the tenacity of the athlete and his willing mate does fascinate in an expressive and almost dreamy way.

Johnny Carson is returning to NBC — sort of.
NBC is developing a miniseries based on the life of the legendary Tonight Show host.
The project is based on the upcoming biography Carson the Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait by Bill Zehme. The story will cover Carson’s childhood growing up in Nebraska and his 30-year run as Tonight host, which concluded in 1992. The miniseries will also touch on “his often secluded off-camera life and friendships he made throughout his career as one of the most beloved TV personalities of all time,” NBC says.
The role of Carson, who passed away in 2005, has not yet been cast.

Any long time resident of Chicago will no doubt fondly remember All Jokes Aside. The black comedy club located in the South Loop neighborhood that was in operation from 1991-2000 and literally the Mecca for any up and coming black comedian during that period. Name any black comedian today; go ahead name one: Chris Rock. Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer, Mo’Nique, Jamie Foxx, Dave Chapelle and Mike Epps just to name a few who all got their start at All Jokes Aside.
So it shouldn’t surprising that there’s a lot of great footage of those comedians during their early hungry days and an equally great story about the club as well which brings us to the new documentary Phunny Business: A Black Comedy. The film, co- produced along with John Davies and Reid Brody by Raymond Lambert who founded the club and directed...
