Krishna, a major star in the 1980s Telugu language film industry, has died. He was 79.
Indian media reported that he was taken to hospital in Hyderabad on Monday with severe cardiac problems that needed resuscitation. He died in hospital on Tuesday morning.
In addition to his own career as actor, director and producer over a period of some five decades and 350 films, Krishna is known as the father of current star Mahesh Babu.
Born as Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy in 1943, Krishna began work in the film industry in 1961 and had his first leading role in 1965’s “Thene Manasulu.”

Chennai, Jan 29: Television actor Sagar of "Mogili Rekulu' fame is all set to make his silver screen debut with upcoming Telugu romantic-drama "Siddharth", which will be produced by Dasari Kiran Kumar, son of veteran filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao.
"I have a subject that I think only Sagar can do justice to. I don't see him as a debutant because with his television experience, I don't think audience will see him as one. He is a household name in the industry and, therefore, won't find it difficult to sustain," Naresh Chandra, "Siddharth" director, told Ians.
Chandra, who has earlier worked with producer Dil Raju, will start shooting.

Chennai, Jan 18: Impressed by its "powerful" storyline, veteran Telugu filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao has picked up the distribution rights of forthcoming film "Minugurulu", slated for release Jan 24.
He said it will be "unfortunate" if audiences don't get to see it.
A film featuring 40 visually impaired children, "Minugurulu" is the story about how these children expose the wrongdoings of their warden in an orphanage.
"When I first watched this film in a private screening a few months back, I decided I should do something from my end to promote it. It has a powerful storyline and wonderful performances by these kids," Dasari told Ians.
"I thought the audience would be unfortunate if they don't get to see.

Hyderabad, Oct 10: Several artists from the Telugu film industry, including bigwigs like D. Ramanaidu and Dasari Naryana Rao paid their last respects to popular Telugu actor Srihari, who died Wednesday of a liver ailment. He was 49.
Srihari died in a Mumbai hospital. His body, which was brought here Thursday, has been kept at his residence for the public to pay their respects.
Other industry members who paid their respects include names like Brahmaji, V.V Vinayak, K. Raghavendra Rao, and Bellamkonda Suresh.
"The body will be kept for public to pay their respect. The last rites will be performed in the evening at Srihari's farmhouse in Bachupally," C. Kalyan, president, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, told.

Chennai, Aug 23: From being overshadowed to pushed back, small-budget Telugu films are fighting all odds to reach theatres. Not ready to take the bullying anymore, now the makers of such movies are opting for online release to find viewers.
"It's becoming extremely challenging for new filmmakers and low-budget films to get a decent theatrical release. Most filmmakers are looking for other options of taking their film to the audience. One such medium is online screening," said director Ramaraju, who couldn't even find a handful of theatres to release his "Mallela Theeram Lo Sirimalle Puvvu".

"I have begun working on one of the six projects announced last month. As soon as I complete work on the political satire 'Vaddikasulavada', I will most likely begin work on my dream project. I completed the script two years back," Dasari, who has so far worked in 150 movies, told Ians.
