- Had almost never spoke French before the age of 12. He spoke mainly his Chtimi dialect of Picard (Langue d'oïl) language at home. He often uses his regional language in his one man shows and used his Chtimi accent in the movie Joyeux Noël to play Ponchel.
- Has five children: Mehdi, Noé, Eytan, Elia and Sarah.
- His ex-wife is actress Judith Godrèche. They met during the making of Bimboland (1998). They have a son, Noé Boon.
- Stage name may have been partially inspired by 18th-19th century American frontiersman Daniel Boone, through the series Daniel Boone (1964) that aired in his childhood. Also a hero in European literature.
