Suits star Patrick J. Adams tore into Britain’s Royal Family today, calling its treatment of his former costar Meghan Markle “obscene,” shameless and an irrelevant institution that is “overdrawn on credibility and apparently bankrupt of decency.”
Adams was just one of Markle’s Suits colleagues coming to the Duchess of Sussex’s defense today, the smackdowns coming after this week’s news that the Royal Family had launched an investigation into complaints by former Kensington Palace staff that Markle had bullied and humiliated them. The charges have made international headlines in the lead-up to Sunday’s big Oprah with Meghan and Harry special on CBS.
“Meghan Markle and I spent the better part of a decade working together on Suits,” Adams writes in the first in a string of eight tweets (see them below). “From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family.

ABC has promoted "Private Practice" writer-producers Steve Blackman and Craig Turk to co-head writers on the series.
Serving under executive producer and creator Shonda Rhimes, the duo will act as de-facto co-showrunners on the program, which has become a solid part of ABC's Thursday night lineup.
Turk was legal counsel for John McCain's 2000 presidential bid before he became a TV writer and has been on the show since it debuted. Blackman worked on "Bones" and "Las Vegas" before joining "Practice" during season two.
The duo replace Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan, who left the series in March. The writers are repped by Paradigm.

Private Practice, the medical drama spin-off from Grey's Anatomy, has lost its showrunners according to the Hollywood Reporter. The series will continue the second half of its third season with creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes at the helm but without executive producers Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan.
According to the report, Rovner and Cowan stepped down from their respective positions on the ABC series, where they have been showrunners since Season 2. No reason was given for their decision. It is not expected to affect production of the show because episode stories for the rest of the season have reportedly already been developed.
Given it's success as a companion to Greys Anatomy in ABC's Thursday night line-up (my wife watches both, so it's partly her fault) Private Practice is expected to be renewed for a fourth season.

You've perhaps heard about a certain cast member leaving "Grey's Anatomy" recently. There's also been a shakeup at its spinoff, "Private Practice."
Executive producers and showrunners Jon Cowan and Robert Rovner, who have been with the series for the past two seasons, are leaving, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It shouldn't affect the rest of this season much, as stories for the remaining episodes have already been broken.
Creator Shonda Rhimes is still overseeing both "Grey's" and "Private Practice," which are both strong bets to be back next season.
- CBS is jumping on the dance-show bandwagon, picking up an American version of the British series "Got to Dance."
"Got to Dance's" hook is that it's open to all comers, regardless of age, dance style or whether they're performing solo or as part of a group. After an audition round, the best dancers will perform live for judges' and viewers' votes.

Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan have stepped down as executive producers/showrunners on ABC's drama "Private Practice."
Rovner and Cowan took the reins of the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff after the first season and steered the series the past two seasons, which saw Kate Walsh and company excel in the ratings after moving to Thursdays behind "Grey's Anatomy" midway through Season 2.
There will be no immediate replacement for Rovner and Cowan this season as the two are departing with all episode stories for the rest of the season already developed.
"Grey's" and "Practice" creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes will continue to supervise all creative and production aspects of the spinoff as she has done throughout the show's run.
While ABC has not handed out renewals to its returning series, "Practice" is expected to be back in the fall.
Meanwhile, ABC Studios confirmed Wednesday that Katherine Heigl's final appearance on "Grey's" aired Jan.

Robert Rovner and Jon Cowan have been tapped as executive producers/showrunners on ABC's drama Private Practice.
The ICM-repped writers succeed Marti Noxon, who was brought on to run the show for its freshman season and is now moving on to other projects.
Creator Shonda Rhimes will remain the lead creative voice of the Grey's Anatomy spinoff, which was renewed for a second season.
While there is little intrigue about ABC's upfront presentation -- expected to feature only a couple of new scripted entries, drama Life on Mars and comedy Scrubs -- the guessing game continues about what pilots will make the cut at CBS and Fox.
Dramas Eleventh Hour and The Mentalist continue to lead the pack at CBS, with Mythological Ex and the Geena Davis project still looking good. Gaining momentum are Meredith Stiehm's The Tower as well as the Jon Turteltaub-directed serialized horror drama, which is eyed for a limited order.
The untitled Ed Yeager and Worst Week are getting buzz on the comedy side, with My Best Friend's Girl and the untitled Mike Birbiglia project also in the running.

Crossing Jordan troupers Jon Cowan, Robert Rovner and Kathy McCormick are taking the reins of the NBC drama from creator Tim Kring. For writing duo Cowan and Rovner, the co-showrunner duties on Jordan are part of a two-year, seven-figure overall deal they inked with the series producer NBC Universal Network TV. Cowan, Rovner and McCormick, who signed a one-year deal for her services on the show, will be elevated to executive producers next season. The succession plan for Jordan has been in the works for more than a year, NBC Uni TV president Angela Bromstad said.
