In the pre-coverage of Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, the speech is being billed as the most important of his presidency, what with his dismal approval numbers and what is shaping up to be very difficult campaign for reelection.
Moreover, so much attention has been paid to the president’s age — at 81, he is the first octogenarian on a major party ticket — that any kind of slip up will be seized upon by his rivals.
Then again, Biden’s most memorable moment last year was an exchange with House Republicans over Social Security, showing that the president had command of the stage. That’s why it’ll be interesting to see if GOP members restrain themselves so as to not give the president the opportunity this year.

The suspense this Super Tuesday may be in watching how all of the networks try to make the night suspenseful.
Some 16 states and one territory will vote: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. A Democratic caucus also is being held in American Samoa, and Iowa Democrats also will reveal their results.
But with Joe Biden and Donald Trump on their way to a rematch in the 2024 presidential election, coverage Tuesday will focus on margins of victory, when each candidate will clinch their nomination and what’s next from now until Election Day. There also will be attention to down-ballot races, including California’s Senate primary to fill the seat long held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-ca).

It’s no secret that the last few weeks have been rough for the royal family regarding the health of King Charles III and the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton). Following a procedure for an enlarged prostate, tests revealed that the monarch has a ” form of cancer.” He is currently undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, Prince William‘s wife had abdominal surgery in January that required several days in the hospital before a lengthy recovery at home, which caused the princess to cancel all her engagements through March.
Now, with two key working royals out of commission, the family is feeling the effects of a slimmed-down monarchy. There have been reports that ex-working royal Prince Harry is willing to step up and pick up some royal duties. There are also stories circulating that the Duke of Sussex is hoping to spend more time in the U.K. even though his wife,...

As the executive producer of 60 Minutes, he is the caretaker of a broadcast TV franchise well into its sixth decade, one of the few pieces of programming outside of NFL football capable of drawing mass tune-in. He is also aiming to deliver news about topics like the 2024 election, China, Gaza, the southern U.S. border, Cillian Murphy, and many more in a way that Gen Z cord-nevers can engage with it.
“I really do want to meet viewers where there’s interest,” he told Deadline in an interview in the show’s headquarters on Manhattan’s Far West Side. “We’re not trying to grab people on social media or TikTok by being something that 60 Minutes isn’t. We want to use the same language, we don’t want to do silly things.

Prince Harry has been at odds with the royal family for years. He and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their roles as senior royals back in 2020 and have lived in California ever since. The two have only returned for major royal events and have not spent any holidays with the family.
Harry recently visited his father in London after learning of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, but he returned to California only a day later. Now, one expert claims Harry is still viewing himself as the “victim” in the royal fallout — and that it could prompt the king to apologize and end the rift once and for all.

In what could only be a dream for many of us, Kelly Ripa shared the best moment of her life with fans on Live with Kelly and Mark today.
She kept saying that she must be dead and why aren’t the paramedics coming.
Kelly was so disappointed back in December when she was so sick, calling it her “deathbed,” and she missed a Madonna concert.
And then, even worse, Mark Consuelos, went without her, leaving her home alone and sick.
But this new development made up for her missing out in December.
Early in every Madonna concert lately, she starts with Vogue and pulls someone famous in the audience onstage to judge her dancers.
This time, Kelly was dragged onstage to do the deed with Madonna.
Kelly Ripa could not wait to share this life-changing moment
Kelly was still on cloud nine as she described what happened with Madonna the night before.

Former President Donald Trump made waves after storming out of court during the E. Jean Carroll trial on Friday. Trump left while Carroll’s attorney relayed his closing statements to the jurors. While Trump was gone from court, Carroll’s attorney Robert Kaplan said to the jury, “[Trump] thinks with his wealth and power he can treat Ms. Carroll how he wants and will suffer no consequences.”
After storming out, Trump returned to the court while his attorney made her closing statements. He was not present when the verdict was delivered.
The jury found Trump guilty in the defamation trial. Trump has been ordered to pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages. After the trial, Trump turned to social media to express his anger toward Judge Lewis Kaplan, who oversaw the trial.

On Monday, the woman who just won $83 a million judgement against Donald Trump will appear on The Rachel Maddow Show.
MSNBC announced late today that Maddow will sit down with E. Jean Carroll for her first interview since a jury ordered former President Donald Trump to hand over $83 million in damages for defaming Carroll.
Carroll will be joined by her attorneys Roberta Kaplan and Shawn Crowley for the interview to discuss the case and a potential appeal from Trump.
While not a huge dent in self-declared billionaire’s wallet, today’s verdict is still, in the words of CNN’s Jake Tapper this afternoon, “quite a chunk of change.” The judgement will be appealed, as the former president indicated today, but overturning the decision could prove difficult for Team Trump.

A small contingent of journalists gathered near the Canadian border earlier this morning to watch as Dixville Notch, Nh, continued its tradition of casting the first ballots on an election day.
Nikki Haley cleaned Donald Trump’s clock in this hamlet — 6 votes to none.

Have you heard it’s cold in Des Moines? The subzero temperatures are making Monday’s caucuses in Iowa the coldest on record, a running theme of coverage throughout the day and into this evening. It’s not trivial, as the frigid weather may very well impact turnout.
As Iowa’s first votes of the 2024 presidential race come in, expect a lot of analysis, punditry and prediction, even if the results represent just a sliver of the primary electorate. The Hawkeye state’s primacy as the first-in-the-nation often obscures the peculiarities of the caucus system, unless there is some kind of glitch, which is what happened four years ago with the Democrats.
That said, networks see the caucuses as the kickoff of what is hoped a spike in viewer interest in the presidential contest, as was seen in 2020 and 2016. All of the broadcast networks are planning for ongoing coverage of...

As promised, Jeremy Renner is kicking off 2024 by returning to acting. The Oscar nominee took to Instagram to post a selfie from his first day on the set of “Mayor of Kingstown” Season 3, which notably marks his high-profile return to acting following his near-fatal snow plow accident last year.
“Day one on set,” Renner’s caption reads. “Nervous today. Hope this works out that I can Actually pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans.”
Renner was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries on Jan. 1, 2023, after his Sno-Cat, a large snow plow that weighs at least 14,330 pounds, ran him over. He spent the majority of 2023 in physical therapy. Renner joined hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper on CNN’s New Year’s Eve special to confirm he was returning to acting at the start of 2024 via “Mayor of Kingstown.”
