Chris McCausland and Lee Mack will star as feuding neighbours in Sky Max Christmas comedy Bad Tidings.
Comedians Chris McCausland and Lee Mack are building up quite a portfolio of work together – they previously collaborated on an episode of the latter’s hit sitcom Not Going Out last year, in which McCausland played a passenger travelling in the same carriage as Lee’s family, and they also presented at the BAFTAs together, as well as McCausland making appearances on Mack’s game show Would I Lie To You.
They are now starring together in festive film Bad Tidings for Sky Max. The synopsis reads as follows:
This year’s Sky Original Christmas special revolves around grumpy home-security expert Neil (Mack) and his neighbour Scott (McCausland), who insists on keeping his Christmas lights illuminated all-year-round. And mixing up their bins, criticising Neil’s ‘project’ car and generally winding him up. Basically,...

Lockwood & Co. coming to Netflix just six weeks after the streaming service cancelled its last solid adaptation of a British fantasy YA book series in The Bastard Son & The Devil Itself, feels a bit like getting a new puppy after your last one was run over. You’re happy it’s here, obviously, but there’s a tug of wariness about getting too attached.
It’s very easy to get attached to this eight-episode ghost story about three teens running a supernatural detective agency. The cast is charming, the characters are likeable and their world – in which a nightly curfew and platoons of rapier-bearing teens protects London from spectral attack – is solidly conceived.
There are ongoing mysteries plus episodic encounters and an evolving Scooby Gang dynamic between its young leads. It has a touch of Harry Potter plus a touch of Being Human, and families who enjoyed Wednesday together could...

Exclusive: ABC is getting into the unscripted true-crime space.
The Disney-owned network has ordered Who Do You Believe? From All3Media-owned producer Lime Pictures.
The series uses simultaneous storytelling to take viewers through compelling true crime cases from dual perspectives. In each episode, the audience steps into the shoes of two contrasting narratives to hear the recounts directly from the victims and criminals with never-before-revealed details. Then the viewer plays armchair detective to deduce and piece together different versions of the truth. There are two sides to every story – and there’s no telling how far one would go for their marriage, child, or way of life.
Within this new storytelling format, the adjudicated cases culminate with a surprise reveal: “Who Do You Believe?”
Alex Weresow, who exec produced Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath and also worked on series including Undercover Boss and Wife Swap, serves as showrunner.

U.K. director Mike Leigh directs films in a wide range of moods but his working-class dramas are what made his name. All or Nothing is an emotionally punishing story of everyday life on a lower rung of a stagnant economy, where nobody has dreams and pessimism is the order of the day. The bitterness and anger are most evident in the abusive attitudes and verbal brutality from one generation to the next, even with the caring, sensitive Penny (Lesley Manville) and the inoffensive Phil (Timothy Spall). Leigh’s players craft heartbreaking characters whose individual miseries can’t be dismissed. We invest heavily in the hope of a positive outcome even as everything we see says, ‘no.’ Yet the film’s honesty doesn’t want us to give up on these people.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the “Game of Thrones” Season 8 premiere.]
Well, that was fun. “Game of Thrones,” long known for taking its viewers by surprise, returned for its final season premiere Sunday night with a shocking twist: jokes! The one-hour episode was surprisingly lighthearted, and full of witty moments, which will no doubt anger the more bloodthirsty fans who want sword-fighting and dragon-fire now.
Considering how the most recent season ended with everyone on the move, it makes sense that this episode — written by Dave Hill and directed by David Nutter — takes time to once again set up the chessboard. Plus, with so many puzzle pieces to service all coming together after seasons of teasing these meetups, it’s necessary to address the history that has passed and how they know each other. However, it makes for a static episode where scene after scene is glorified exposition peppered with wry jabs.
Politics is at the forefront of this talkiness,...

However, it makes for a static episode where scene after scene is glorified exposition peppered with wry jabs.
Politics is at the forefront of this talkiness,...

The first season of the Cb Strike TV show on Cinemax originally aired in UK on BBC One, as a mini-series called Strike. Because the seven-episode season is based on a series of novels, subsequent seasons are only likely if new books are released. A British detective drama, season one of Cb Strike stars Tom Burke, Holliday Grainger, Kerr Logan, Ben Crompton, Natasha O’Keeffe, Killian Scott, and Sargon Yelda. The Cinemax series is based on Jk Rowling’s Comoran Strike detective novel series, written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. The crime drama centers on war veteran Comoran “C.B.” Strike (Burke). Once again a civilian, working out of a London office, Strike uses his military experience in his...

If you live in hope that Tormund Giantsbane and Brienne of Tarth will rekindle their “love affair” with Game of Thrones season 8, we have good news: Kristofer Hivju has been spotted in Belfast, the show’s home base, as filming on the eighth and final season gets underway.
First reported by BuzzFeed (with a tip of the hat to Instagram user ‘@ketel_cat’), it’s understood many of the show’s key players have been spotted moseying around Northern Ireland’s capital – Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow Aegon Targaryen), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy), Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), and Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm).
But of all the many famous faces hitting the Belfast streets, it’s Kristofer Hivju that has generated the most excitement. That’s because his Tormund was last seen fleeing the Night King in season 7’s grand finale,...

Out today is the Blu-ray edition of Game of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season from HBO Home Entertainment.
We previously reviewed the Digital HD version of the season here but there are new elements to consider with the box set.
The vast majority of Digital HD releases do not come with the bonus features, extra, and Easter Eggs we have come to know and love about the disc format. As a result, the Digital HD version is a nice add-on for on-the-go viewing, but the complete immersive experience, the special features add interviews, behind-the-scenes information, commentary, and deleted scenes to enhance your appreciation of the material. This season set, though, does come with some, but all, the extras found on the Blu-ray box set.

In ‘The Red Woman’ — the season premiere of Game of Thrones — audiences witnessed an hour filled with plot set-ups, unexpected character deaths, and last-minute magical reveals. Now HBO has released photos from the second episode. Entitled ‘Home,’ the photos indicate we’ll be spending a lot of time in the North. Warning: Minor spoilers beyond this point. If you were worried HBO would skip over the Wall for a week to check in on characters we haven’t seen yet this season, worry no more. Photos of both Alliser Thorne (Owen Teale) and Dolorous Edd (Ben Crompton) confirm we’ll at least be seeing the next part of the Battle for Jon Snow’s Body. Whether or not Melisandre will be back on the scene to drop some resurrection knowledge on the Night’s Watch — or if the show will choose the path of ‘Jon warged into Ghost’ — remains to be seen.

A morning full of eye-opening surprises, the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced.
The standout nods were the inclusion of Straight Outta Compton, Beasts Of No Nation, Sarah Silverman, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Idris Elba and two for Dame Helen Mirren.
Not among the perceived hopefuls called were Sylvester Stallone, Charlotte Rampling, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, The Martian and The Hateful Eight.
Two nominating panels – one for television and one for film – each composed of 2,200 randomly selected union members from across the United States, chose this year’s nominees.
Some of the Sags choices were head-scratchers to be sure, but we’re thinking that the Oscar picks may be very different when The Academy announces their nominations next month live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. Pt at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Hollywood blacklist drama Trumbo has led the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards with three nods for lead actor Bryan Cranston, supporting actress Helen Mirren and the ensemble cast. The Martian and The Hateful Eight were shut out.
Set in 1947, the film centres on Dalton Trumbo (Cranston), who was Hollywood’s top screenwriter, until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs.

The 22nd annual SAG Awards nominations were announced this morning and it's full of surprises! Sylvester Stallone, loved by critics and the National Board of Review for his performance in "Creed," was ignored. So was Kristen Stewart's supporting performance in "Clouds of Sils Maria." Matt Damon, who was so good and carried "The Martian" from start to finish, was also missing from the list.
But here's what I love about the SAG noms. First, Sarah Silverman's first dramatic performance in "I Smile Back" was embraced. And I'm also happy with the inclusion of "Room's" Brie Larson and the fantastic child actor, Jacob Tremblay. The endearing "Carol" also received noms for both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and Saoirse Ronan's performance in the beautiful "Brooklyn" also received a nomination.
The big winner of the SAG noms is Bleecker Street's "Trumbo." Missing from earlier critics awards (see here...

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning in Hollywood, with a fair amount of surprises to be had. Leading the pack is Trumbo, which picked up three nominations, then a large batch of films behind it with two each: Beasts of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight, and Steve Jobs.
Perhaps most surprising is no mention of The Hateful Eight, which has one of the year’s best ensembles. Also of questionable note is the inclusion of Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, a film all but forgotten (we suppose Harvey Weinstein’s campaigning indeed worked). There’s also the welcome nods to Michael Shannon in 99 Homes and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back, as well as an ensemble nod to Straight Outta Compton. Check out the full list of nominees below ahead of the ceremony on Saturday, Jan.

As Game of Thrones fans continue to speculate on whether Jon Snow is alive or not, actor Kit Harington has been spending time in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where the show is filmed. Last week, he and his still-long hair were spotted making a shopping trip, looking casual in jeans and a jacket as he picked up some pizza and wine. The sighting comes after he stepped out with a Game of Thrones costar last month, all smiles as he and Ben Crompton strolled through Belfast. He might have been spending time in Northern Ireland for a reason totally unrelated to the series, or, as we said before, he may just be needed to shoot a few scenes - a funeral scene, perhaps? In any case, for those still holding out hope for Jon Snow, this may be a good sign. Keep reading for pictures of Kit Harington's Belfast outing,...

Is this good news for Game of Thrones fans?! Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the series, was spotted in Belfast, Ireland - one of the show's filming locations - on Tuesday. The actor was all smiles, laughing alongside his Game of Thrones costar Ben Crompton, who plays Eddison Tollett. Although Kit's signature long locks were covered with his hood, he and his long hair did make an appearance at Wimbledon in early July. Does this clear up the doubt over Jon Snow's death in the season five finale? Well, to be fair, if the character died, they'd possibly still need Kit to shoot a few scenes - maybe some sort of funeral or an extension of that heartbreaking final scene. In any case, keep reading to see more pictures of Kit Harington out and about in Northern Ireland, then find out how season five confirmed who Jon Snow...
