A fond look back at UK comedy drama Teachers, starring a pre-The Walking Dead and post-This Life Andrew Lincoln...
Fifteen years ago, Andrew Lincoln wasn’t the guy from The Walking Dead. He wasn’t even the creepy guy from Love Actually (the one with the signs. Not any of the other creepy guys). No, he was the guy from This Life that was getting a show all of his own in which to charm the viewing masses. That show was Teachers. And charm us he did.
Set in a secondary school in Bristol, Teachers was good enough to make us actually want to go back to school – or, for those of us who were still at school when it started, to wonder if some of the ridiculous rumours we were making up about the staff shagging each other might actually be true after all.

Glenda Jackson: Actress and former Labour MP. Two-time Oscar winner and former Labour MP Glenda Jackson returns to acting Two-time Best Actress Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson set aside her acting career after becoming a Labour Party MP in 1992. Four years ago, Jackson, who represented the Greater London constituency of Hampstead and Highgate, announced that she would stand down the 2015 general election – which, somewhat controversially, was won by right-wing prime minister David Cameron's Conservative party.[1] The silver lining: following a two-decade-plus break, Glenda Jackson is returning to acting. Now, Jackson isn't – for the time being – returning to acting in front of the camera. The 79-year-old is to be featured in the Radio 4 series Emile Zola: Blood, Sex and Money, described on their website as a “mash-up” adaptation of 20 Emile Zola novels collectively known as "Les Rougon-Macquart."[2] Part 1 of the three-part Radio 4 series will be broadcast daily during an...

The first, and maybe rather incidental grumble about the first two parter of the 21st century revival of Who (the equivalent of a four-part story) is that it's a bit of a mouthful. It's easy enough to say, "Did you see The Deadly Assassin?" but try saying "Did you see Aliens Of London slash World War Three?" Nonsense, isn't it? If they ever re-release the post-2005 stories separately on DVD, there'll be problems. Say that this story gets re-released in 2025 with remastered running Slitheen and an all-new commentary with the remote control kid, the bloke who moans about Livingstone and the "Oy gawjus, come back and join duh party" girl – you'll need a magnifying glass to read the title down the spine.
So for practical reasons, I'll refer to the story as Aliens Three – just don't get it confused with the 1992 film sequel. It's more of a compact way of summing up the story anyway,...

- In Red Mercury, three young members of a terrorist cell - Asif (Navin Chowdhry), Shahid (San Shella) and Mushtaq (Alex Caan) - are warned of an impending police raid and flee their flat with the makings of a bomb. When they discover that their car has been clamped, they take refuge in a nearby restaurant, and the establishment's well-to-do diners become hostages. Before long, a sophisticated police and security services operation has been assembled outside, taking on added urgency when its leader, Sofia Warburton (Juliet Stevenson), discovers that the three young men are in possession of red mercury, a potential ingredient for what the London security services fear most: a 'dirty' bomb, capable of causing far greater death and destruction than an ordinary explosive device. Like Dog Day Afternoon, Red Mercury explores the shifting dynamics of the relationship between the three young Muslims, as well as those between the
