Felicity Huffman Gives Her Honest Thoughts on Kerry Washington’s 'Desperate Housewives' Reboot
Image
Desperate Housewives brought us all to Wisteria Lane and now Kerry Washingtonis taking us back to the cul-de-sac. The new series is going to bring a new set of women to the infamous street and it promises to have similar vibes to the original run of Desperate Housewives. Called Wisteria Lane, everything we know about the series is, like the street itself, shrouded in secrets. But that doesn't mean that the original cast aren't being asked about the new show. While promoting her new Lifetime movie The Thirteenth Wife: Escaping Polygamy, former star Felicity Huffman was asked about the new series.

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts brought up to Huffman that Washington's production company was behind the series and asked her her thoughts on it. "Isn't that great? "They're going to do Wisteria Lane with women of color, and I am all for it," she said, but has...

Felicity Huffman Reacts To Kerry Washington’s ‘Desperate Housewives’ Offshoot
Image
With some new housewives moving onto one of TV’s most famous streets, Felicity Huffman is welcoming them to the neighborhood.

The Oscar nominee, who portrayed Lynette Scavo on ABC‘s Desperate Housewives, recently reacted to news of Kerry Washington‘s Onyx Collective offshoot Wisteria Lane, which Deadline exclusively announced last month.

“Isn’t that great? They’re gonna do Wisteria Lane with women of color, and I am all for it,” she said on Good Morning America, before joking: “I am gonna do craft service for it. But I just think it’s wonderful, and I’m a huge fan of Kerry’s.”

Huffman had no suggestions on who should take over her role as Lynette, an overworked stay-at-home mother of five children who longs for the workplace and eventually struggles with both alcoholism and cancer during the show’s eight-season run from 2004 to 2012.

“Oh my god, I have no idea,...

Kerry Washington Confirms ‘Wisteria Lane’, Says ‘Desperate Housewives’ Offshoot Will Tackle “New Challenges”
Image
During an appearance on The View Friday for her new movie with Omar Sy Shadow Force, Kerry Washington confirmed Deadline’s exclusive report from earlier this week about Wisteria Lane, a reimagining of the hit ABC mystery dramedy series Desperate Housewives, which is in development at Onyx Collective through Washington‘s Simpson Street production company.

When The View co-host Ana Navarro referred to the project as a “Desperate Housewives remake,” Washington tried to correct her, noting that “it’s inspired” by the popular 2004 series.

“I can’t say too much — it’s very newly announced, it’s in development,” Washington said. “The idea is that it’s new times, there’s new challenges, it’s like — what happens on that cul-de-sac now? It’s really exciting.”

When she was quizzed by Navarro whether Wisteria Lane would feature “new women, old women?,” meaning new or original characters, Washington was coy, shutting...

Guy Ritchie, Jake Gyllenhaal reteam for Road House 2

Prolific director Guy Ritchie has officially signed on to direct Road House 2, Amazon MGM Studios' followup to the Jake Gyllenhaal-led action hit. Ritchie takes over from Doug Liman, who left the franchise acrimoniously when Amazon sent Road House straight to streaming instead of giving it a theatrical release. It will be Ritchie and Gyllenhaal's third collaboration, following Guy Ritchie's The Covenant and the upcoming In the Grey. The script is by Will Beall (Bad Boys: Ride or Die). Road House is based on the 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze, with Gyllenhaal as an ex-UFC fighter named Dalton who takes a job as a bouncer at a dangerous bar and comes into conflict with a local gang.

Kerry Washington To Revive 'Desperate Housewives' With 'Wisteria Lane'
Image
The Desperate Housewives are getting new neighbors. Well, sorta. Marc Cherry's iconic ABC television series is being brought back to life by Kerry Washington and The Flight Attendantshowrunner Natalie Chaidez. Taking place under Disney's Onyx Collective banner, the new series, called Wisteria Lane as a nod to the original show's iconic neighborhood/street, is said to be "a re-imagining" of the old show, which followed the shocking and mysteriously dramatic lives of a handful of families living on the aforementioned street.

The news, first reported by Deadline, comes as no surprise given the ABC series' 20th anniversary back in 2024. Though not involved in this project, the show's continued fandom thanks to streaming — coupled with Cherry's previous comments about wanting to revisit the universe of Wisteria Lane — makes it the exact sort of property to revisit in an era of new social mores but no less drama. But before you get too excited,...

Zendaya, who is coming off a strong 2024 thanks to Challengers and Dune: Part Two, has reportedly been wanting to work with Jenkins for some time now and vice versa. Dave Kajganich has been tapped to write an original screenplay that will "immerse audiences in what the singer’s life with the troubled producer Phil Spector felt like rather than a traditional cradle-to-the-grave biopic."

One Of The Best Time Travel Shows You'll Ever Watch Was A Radically Different Remake Of A Bruce Willis & Brad Pitt Movie
Image
The TV adaptation of 12 Monkeys ended up being very different from the Bruce Willis/Brad Pitt time-travel movie it was based on — but it was still just as great. Released in 1995, Terry Gilliam’s initial film version of 12 Monkeys takes place in a post-apocalyptic future ravaged by a deadly disease. Willis plays a convict who’s sent back in time to gather information about the creation of the virus that ended up decimating the human population. When the time travel experiment goes awry, he ends up in the wrong year.

In 2015, 12 Monkeys was reimagined as an underrated TV show for Syfy. The series was created by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, and in its first season, it was run by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’ Natalie Chaidez. The movie is a loose remake of the classic 1962 French short La Jetée, about a time traveler who gets caught in a stable time loop.

‘The Flight Attendant’, Kaley Cuoco’s Max Drama, Will Not Return For Season 3
Image
The Flight Attendant will not be returning for a third season. The show, which was originally set as a limited series, aired two seasons on Max, with the second season ending in May 2022.

The move follows comments from star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco after the second season that the “plane had landed.” “I just kind of feel like we just ended,” she told People at the time.

The first season, which premiered in November 2020, followed Cuoco’s alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowden who became embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.

The second season saw Bowden return with a fresh start in Los Angeles, sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

Inside La Cena Los Angeles, a Celebration of Community and Excellence in Latino Hollywood (Exclusive Photos)
Image
Year 2023 will be remembered in Hollywood for various phenomena — the strikes, Barbenheimer — but for Latinos, 2023 was the year that saw a relatively significant number of movies and TV releases from and about their community, in a variety of genres. With actors and writers spending about half of last year unable to promote their projects, the atmosphere at Neuehouse in Hollywood was all the more electric last Friday evening as a who’s who of Latin entertainment, media, sports and politics came together to toast the excellence they saw on the big and small screens.

The event, La Cena Los Angeles, was an expansion of the intimate multi-city La Cena dinner series started last year by culture and impact consultant Ruben Garcia, formerly co-head of cultural business strategy at CAA, to cultivate community among impactful Latino figures across disciplines.

Sponsored by the Latino-focused organization Equis, La Cena LA saluted a range of work,...

Kaley Cuoco Casts Doubt On A Third Season Of ‘The Flight Attendant”
Image
Kaley Cuoco seems satisfied with two seasons of The Flight Attendant.

“It’s going to take a lot of thought to make sure if we go back that it’s better than the last two, which is very hard to do,” she told People.com, noting there are no current plans for a third season of the HBO Max dramedy. “There’s definitely interest in doing a third season. I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed.”

Cuoco said the best thing about the Season 2 finale, which aired Thursday, is that the series “could definitely be done or it’s definitely open to continuing.”

“I think the writers and the team did a really beautiful job in tying it up in a pretty bow,” she said. “But if you had to open the bow, it would be okay.”

Cuoco also says she “could possibly get back in it,...

Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet Share How ‘The Flight Attendant’ Season 2 Hit Close to Home at FYC Event
Image
Sure, the HBO Max series “The Flight Attendant,” about an alcoholic airline employee who ends up becoming a C.I.A. asset, is best known for its impressively out-there story beats, but for its cast, Season 2 hits a lot closer to home than one would think.

“I was going through so much this year, and so a lot of it was real,” said star Kaley Cuoco of her Season 2 performance as the titular flight attendant Cassie Bowden. Speaking to the audience of the comedy’s FYC event on Thursday night at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center in Los Angeles, she joked that it’s even “almost a little silly” when she receives compliments on her ability to access those darker emotions for the show’s more dramatic scenes.

Although she did not mention it explicitly during the panel, Cuoco was alluding to going through her divorce from equestrian...
