- Carroll joined Starland Vocal Band after performing in clubs in and around Washington DC, most notably at The Cellar Door in Georgetown, the premier performance nightclub of that time there. He was 18 when Afternoon Delight was recorded at A&R studios in NY with Phil Ramone and Milton Okun. Carroll's Get Closer was a top 30 hit for Linda Ronstadt before being appropriated by Close Up toothpaste for 5 years as their ad campaign song.
