Exclusive: An actress who featured in the final season of The Crown and a series regular in Jack Whitehall’s Bad Education have said they are owed thousands in unpaid fees by scandal-hit agency Bodhi Talent.
Thea Beyleveld and Jack Bence were both loyal Bodhi clients but said they discovered that the agency had withheld money from them following the publication of a Deadline exposé on the company. Beyleveld also alleged that Bodhi “skimmed” money from her paycheck.
Beyleveld and Bence are among around eight Bodhi clients in contact with acting union Equity as they attempt to secure their money. Equity believes the cases are actionable and the union will go through civil courts to fight for cash. It is unlawful for UK agents to pay actors later than 10 days.

Exclusive: Bodhi Talent clients have abandoned the Manchester-based talent agency after founder Archie Purnell was accused of being a “rogue trader” in a Deadline investigation.
Several actors posted on Twitter (now X) about their decision to quit Bodhi following allegations that Purnell was sending clients fake self-tape audition invites and breaking regulations by paying actors late.
Purnell sent an email to clients on Thursday saying he was “heartbroken” at the claims, which he said were “false” and created by an individual who had previously attempted to “jeopardise my character.” He did not identify this individual in the email, which was co-signed by his business partner Ricky Cortis.
“To say I am heartbroken is an understatement, but as always, the truth will out. There is always two sides to every story,” Purnell wrote. “My legal time [sic] is currently dealing with it all and legal action is now being taken against all parties involved.

Exclusive: A British talent agent, who has worked with soap stars including Emma Rigby and Helen Flanagan, has been accused of professional misconduct by six former clients.
Archie Purnell, founder of Manchester-based Bodhi Talent, has supplied actors to major productions for Netflix, the BBC, and ITV, but is facing claims he misled clients in a bid to bolster his standing in the industry.
Deadline has uncovered a series of allegations about the agent, including that he has sent actors illegitimate briefs for self-tape auditions, broke regulations on payment deadlines, and failed to observe industry best practice in contracts. Bodhi is currently at risk of being struck off the UK Companies House register for filing its accounts late.

British Comedian Bobby Ball Dies
Bobby Ball, the British comedian and star of shows including BBC One’s Not Going Out, has died at the age of 76 after testing positive for coronavirus. He was one half of double-act Cannon and Ball alongside Tommy Cannon, while he has appeared in comedies including Last of the Summer Wine and Benidorm. He was also a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2005. “At first it was thought to be a chest infection but a test proved positive for Covid-19,” his manager said in a statement. “His wife Yvonne said the hospital and staff could not have been more wonderful, as they were outstanding in their care of duty and they did everything possible for him and she cannot praise them enough.” Cannon paid tribute by quoting his partner’s catchphrase: “Rock on, my good friend, I can’t believe this,...

In 2006, comedy double act Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball gave an interview to The Independent reminiscing about their stage and TV career. Cic Video? Medusa? Odyssey? Thorn Emi? We track down the classic video companies of yesterday…
The modern DVD and Blu-ray market? Well, it’s all so corporate isn’t it? No slight on the releases, or the companies involved, but I don’t think anyone gets a frission of excitement when they see a Warner Bros Home Entertainment logo on a box, in the way they used to when the Medusa logo popped up. And whilst there are firms such as Arrow and Eureka keeping the flag of quirky film companies flying, there are still a few names consigned to the VHS recycle bin, whose story is in danger of being lost. Ground-breaking, intelligent, prescient 1970s drama Doomwatch, now out on DVD, is a British television classic...
Playing on the public's fear that 'this could actually happen', Doomwatch had a veneer of credibility unusual in the escapist television drama landscape of the late 60s/early 70s. This spring sees the most comprehensive haul of Doomwatch episodes released on DVD for the first time. The nickname for the "Department for the Observation and Measurement of Scientific Work", the series first appeared on BBC1 on Monday 9th February 1970 at 9.40pm. It followed half an hour of comedy from Kenneth Williams, which must have surely heightened its dramatic impact.
The series would run in tandem with the early Jon Pertwee era of Doctor Who; the first episode made its debut two days after part two of Doctor Who And The Silurians. The two shows undoubtedly shared a synergy of ideas - not to mention cast and crew.

After 13 series, there have now been more than enough I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winners to fill up their own all-star series.
They all had to endure creepy crawlies, tough Bushtucker Trials and mockery by Ant & Dec, but they all won the hearts of the nation for a couple of weeks.
Some of them may have fallen from grace since, while some have soared up the UK fame ranks. But who were the best champions from their respective series? Here's our just-for-fun, don't-take-it-too-seriously Top 13.
13. Carol Thatcher - Series 5 (2005)
Potentially the most surprising winner of the lot, no-one could have guessed that Margaret Thatcher's daughter would have been voted the nation's favourite.
Viewers were won over by how involved she was in the tasks, her no-nonsense attitude, and the fact that she was only up against Sid Owen and Cannon & Ball.
12. Matt Willis - Series 6 (2006)

As Brownie McGhee once said, "The blues is life."
Nowhere knows that life better than Chicago, which has been the world's blues mecca for more than a century. And this weekend, a slew of legendary musicians were recognized in a special ceremony at the city's premiere blues club.
The Blues Hall of Fame ceremony at Buddy Guy's Legends read like a who's-who of the local circuit, including performances by Mud Morganfield, Toronzo Cannon and Harvey "T-Bird Huck" Huckstep.
Buddy Guy himself, the man responsible for grooming artists from Jimi Hendrix to Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, was on hand to receive his award. Other inductees included Billy Branch and the late Muddy Waters.
Guy was one of the first performers to popularize the Chicago blues style, born after the Great Migration brought droves of black workers from the south to major northern cities.

In 10 years, the 'little fat bloke' from Reading has become a comedy god. But after the 'mong' row, and on the eve of his new TV show Life's Too Short, have we fallen out of love with Ricky Gervais? Plus Ricky Gervais: a prize clown – in pictures
Ricky Gervais was enjoying a relatively quiet time, promoting his new show, when I met him a few weeks ago at his office in Hampstead. We had a nice chat, he talked about comedy, explained in the abstract that causing offence isn't in and of itself a bad thing, then a few days later managed to offend everyone so violently that he wound up being lectured on morality by the front page of the Sun.
He had tossed out a reference to "mong" on Twitter and, when challenged, defended and aggressively reused it on the basis that the word had evolved from...

Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Mark James has revealed that if he wins the series on Saturday, he will use the £100,000 prize money to set up his own pantomime production company.
The singer who impressed Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan with his half man, half woman audition has previously starred in panto alongside Sue Pollard, Neighbours star Anne Charleston and Jane Tucker from Rainbow. In fact Sue even rang him up to congratulate him on his Bgt success.
On how he would spend the money if he won, Mark, who will appear on tonight’s semi final said:
I bought a house a couple of years ago so firstly I would pay off the mortgage, but I would like to have my own pantomime production company. I love pantomime as it’s for everybody so the money would definitely be used in a good way.

This week, to celebrate 40 years of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, they’ve chosen the first Python movie 1971’s And Now For Something Completely Different.
Straight off, i should mention that, despite the fact it was released as such, it isn’t actually a movie. To capitalise on their popularity, they re-recorded 90 minutes of their sketches, put a title on it, and released it in theatres. As just a longer collection of their usual tv sketches, with no narrative of any kind weaved through it, it’s impossible to review it as a film.
There are three types of people.

To capitalise on their popularity, they re-recorded 90 minutes of their sketches, put a title on it, and released it in theatres. As just a longer collection of their usual tv sketches, with no narrative of any kind weaved through it, it’s impossible to review it as a film.
There are three types of people.
