Animal rights group PETA plan to demonstrate at all of new movie Chicken Run (2000)'s premieres in protest at the chicken-eating stance of the film's makers. The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, were present at the British premiere of the hit film last night (Wednesday). They say the movie has a strong animal rights message but for some reason the creators of the film are intent on telling people how much they love to eat chicken sandwiches. But they hope with their leafleting and giant roosters at premieres across the world, people will start getting the message. Head of London bureaux Andrew Butler says, "Ultimately we would love people to stop eating chicken and we think that this film will do for chicken sales what Babe (1995) did for pork. "I think we will see the sales plummet over the coming months. Babe converted hundreds of people to vegetarianism and I think we will see Chicken Run (2000) do the same thing." And Butler doesn't think PETA will have to do much to get the message across because the chickens speak for themselves. He adds, "People can see for themselves that these chickens are desperate to escape. We are re-enforcing that message."...
