Dok Leipzig’s Golden Dove for Best International Documentary went to the Us, while Norway scored a hat-trick at the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck.
The top award in Leipzig’s International Documentary Competition went to Italian-born, Us-based film-maker Roberto Minervini’s Stop The Pounding Heart whose portrayal of a strict religious family was described by the jury as ¨refreshing and unsettling at the same time.¨
The Us-Belgian-Italian co-production is handled internationally by Doc & Film.
The Golden Dove in the German Documentary Competition was awarded to Carlo Zoratti for his feature-length debut The Special Need, while the newly-created Golden Dove for the animation-documentary hybrid form was presented to French director Daniela De Felice’s Casa.

Six Indian documentary films that underwent a year-long training programme called DocWok, will now be presented to an industry audience at Dok Leipzig (International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films) 2013. Trailers and clips of the films will be showcased on October 30, 2013 at Polnisches Institut Leipzig.
Through workshop sessions around the year, DocWok provides hands on training and guides filmmakers to find fresh ways of thinking about editing and dramaturgy, as well as sophisticated marketing, international film release and distribution. DocWok is orgnized by Dok Leipzig and Magic Lantern Movies, an imprint of Magic Lantern Foundation in New Delhi.
The 56th edition of Dok Leipzig will be held from October 28 –November 3, 2013.

Tahira is married to her lover but then the husband disappears. Now she is one among the many half widows in the strife torn Kashmir.

The 15th Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival 2013 is calling for entries. The festival will be held from December 6-10, 2013 in Madurai.
Entries are invited under the following sections: 1) International Films, 2) Films from Rest of India, 3) Films from Tamil Nadu.
The last date to send entries is 1 Oct 2013. There is no entry fee.
The festival will organize a Retrospective of documentary filmmaker Pankaj Butalia. The section “Under Construction” will showcase films distributed by the Magic Lantern Foundation, New Delhi.
The festival is a non competitive festival. Any film that is produced anywhere in the world during the last 24 months (approximately) in any language, in any format, in any style is welcome. The films that are not in Tamil should have English sub-titles.
