Jake Bugg admitted that he’s never seen an episode of Happy Valley, despite singing the show’s theme tune.
From the hit BBC show’s debut in 2014 to its finale in February, its opening and closing music has been soundtracked by Bugg’s single, “Trouble Town”.
In a recent interview, the singer admitted that although his song is considered a key part of the Sarah Lancashire-led drama, he is unfamiliar with it.
On Friday’s (3 March) edition of Hometime with Bush & Richie on Absolute Radio, Bugg was asked about the process of an artist allowing their music to be used as part of a TV programme and separated from a wider musical release.
“You want it to be a thing that reflects well on the music and it has to kind of have some connection,” Bugg noted.
“People tell me that it works and it’s hard, I think [as a] writer,...

It’s all fun and games until the cops get called, right? YouTube sensations Grace Helbig, Hannah Hart and Mamrie Hart have reunited for a new comedy, “Dirty 30,” and just like its title suggests, the film details an epic 30th birthday rager gone bad.
The story follows the three stream queens, as lifelong friends stuck in a rut. Kate (Mamrie) is trapped in a job she hates, sucks at dating and is on the cusp of turning 30. Evie (Helbig) is married but has in-laws from hell and Charlie (Hannah) is recently engaged but can’t seem to pull her business (or her act) together. When Kate’s birthday arrives, her two besties vow to throw her the wildest party and make her have the time of her life. What they unleash is a lot of fun, and a whole lot of chaos.

Produced as a feature – 4 TV half-hours – and as a 13 episode web series, Sos: Save Our Skins is the tale of two hapless British geeks who wake up in New York City to discover that the entire human race has vanished. But as they explore the seemingly empty world before them, Ben (Nat Saunders) and Stephen (Chris Hayward) soon realize they’re not alone after all. This new comedy sci-fi adventure launched on FEARnet in the U.S. in April on its new “Twisted Comedy” block and on Blue Ant Media’s Bite TV in Canada. This U.K.-Canada coproduction was produced by Steve Coogan and Henry Normal’s Baby Cow Productions in the U.K. and by Duopoly in Canada.
“We discovered Sos: Save Our Skins in a pitch session at the Just For Laughs Conference and were determined to find a way to finance it,” said Catherine Tait , Executive Producer. “Co-productions are challenging but in the case of Sos, the talent and final results were entirely worth the effort!”
Sos: Save Our Skins was created, written by and stars two of Britain’s in-demand comedy writing teams, Nat Saunders and Chris Hayward. Together they have contributed to hit U.K. shows such as Big Train (BBC), Smack the Pony (Channel 4), Trollied (Sky) and Fit (Cbbc), and created the popular web series Misey Bear(BBC). Sos also stars Hannah Spear (Versus Valerie, Sexy Nerd Girl) as Kill the cannibal and Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) as the voice of Andrew the Alien.
A sci-fi, comedy and horror homage, Sos: Save Our Skins sends Ben and Stephen on a desperate journey to find their loved ones, escape the jaws of death and work out why they’re two of the few remaining people on Earth. But the answer to the mystery is bigger, crazier and more apocalyptic than they could ever have imagined, and it puts the fate of the planet into their very stupid hands.
“Sos: Save Our Skins is part road movie, part sci-fi fantasy, part buddy movie, and even has a twisted love story at its heart, even if one of the lovers is a mass-murderer,” said Director and Producer, Kent Sobey.
The film version of Sos: Save Our Skins premiered at the 39th Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival in February, where Sorespot Movies observed, “[it] does not hold back with the comedy or the wildness of the plot”. The film also screened at the International Horror and Sci-fi Film Festival in Phoenix and the Sci-Fi London Film Festival (April 24 – May 4, 2014). It will screen at the St. Tropez International Film Festival (May 12 – 16, 2014).
The film was produced in association with the Independent Production Fund and with the participation of BBC Worldwide in the UK, FEARnet in the U.S. and Blue Ant Media in Canada.

When U.K. millionaire Andrew Bush was found dead in his mansion in Spain, authorities launched a worldwide hunt for his ex-girlfriend, a stunning blonde swimsuit model named Mayka Kukocova. Days later, Kukocova turned up thousands of miles away in her native Slovakia, where she turned herself in to police April 8 in her hometown of Nova Bosaca, according to international press reports. In a sensational story lighting up the British tabloids, Kukocova, 23, is awaiting extradition to Spain to face a charge of "consumed intentional homicide" in the shooting death of her playboy ex who made his fortune in gold trading.

Some things are a given when you decide to make a '70s-set disco boogie spoof: there will be disco music, there will be gold lame, there will be big hair, there will be Bee Gees references and there will be roller skates.
But a long-dead dad who was murdered at the hands of video-game pushing gangsters? That's a Picnicface original.
The Haligonian comedy troupe hit the roller rink for their first feature film Roller Town, after their cheeky online videos made Will Ferrell a fan and The Comedy Network gave them their own show that, sadly, only lasted one season.
Drawing inspiration from Roller Boogie, Skatetown, U.S.A., Airplane, Monty Python's Holy Grail and Wet Hot American Summer, Mark Little and his Picnicface alumnus – co-writer Scott Vrooman, director and co-writer Andrew Bush, co-stars Kyle Dooley, Cheryl Haan, Brian MacQuarrie, Evany Rosen and Bill Wood – thought the era of...

Roller Town
Directed by Andrew Bush
Written by Andrew Bush, Mark Little, Scott Vrooman
Canada, 2012
If comedy is tragedy plus time, a satire of the cultural immolation that is the 1970’s is long overdue. From tacky flare trousers and ridiculously wide neckties, to disco music and roller rinks, the 70’s was, for the most part, a time of oblivious cheese and corn. The Canadian comedy, Roller Town, attempts to satirize that era, but instead of being sharp or witty, its scattershot skit-show approach leaves much to be desired and ultimately falls into the same kitsch.
In a time and place where he never has to take off his skates, Mark Little is Leo, a hotshot roller rink virtuoso who secretly wants to get into the roller-skating version of Julliard. One night, at the eponymous Roller Town, he meets a girl named Julia (Kayla Lorette), who’s in said school but...

Disco didn't die, it was murdered.
How's that for a catchy tagline?
It comes to us courtesy of Roller Town, a Canadian comedy set in the vein of Austin Powers and Saturday Night Fever. We head back to the era of knee socks, bright colours and boogie to follow, Leo, a man born to do three things: disco, dance and rollerskate. Leo's simple existence is threatened when a gang of mobsters decide to turn the town’s roller rink into a video arcade. So what else can Leo do but harness the power of skating, friendship and The Boogie to thwart the bad guys’ plans, win the girl, and preserve the ways of the skate? Seems simple enough, right? I guess we'll see.
The big-screen disco feature marks the first big screen effort from Canuck comedy troupe Picnicface and was shot in and around Halifax last fall. Lead players include newcomers Mark Little,...

I can't remember a time I went to the Seattle International Film Festival (Siff) press launch and looked over the list of films and saw so many I was interested in seeing. The claim to fame for over the years is to call it the largest and most-highly attended festival in the United States. This is a fact I've often taken issue with as I don't equate quantity with quality. Granted, there has been a large number of quality features to play the fest over the years, including Golden Space Needle (Best Film) winners such as Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), My Life as a Dog (1987), Trainspotting (1996), Run Lola Run (1999), Whale Rider (2003) and even recent Best Director winner, Michel Hazanavicius's Oss 117: Nest of Spies in 2006. That said, looking over this year's crop of films I see a lot of films I will be doing my absolute best to see.

Lovingly farcical (as he smooches and licks your head) and thoroughly Canadian, Andrew Bush's first feature comes from the history of his comedic troupe, Picnic Face, which just finished airing it's first season on Canadian TV. (Now I have to go watch this!) Moving on to feature length film, Bush takes the troupe back to the 1970's.. and the absurd. We've got a promo trailer below from a few years back, and as they haven't answered my emails yet, we're not sure if it contains footage from the actual film. However, it will give you a good idea of what's in store.

Ten narratives and eight documentaries are lined up for the 2012 Slamdance Film Festival Competition. Variety's Dave McNary reports that two titles "already generating buzz are Bindlestiffs in the feature lineup and We Are Legion: The Story of Hacktavists in documentaries. Bindlestiffs, directed by Andrew Edison, stars Andrew Edison, Luke Loftin and John Karna as smart-mouthed high school virgins, who are suspended from school on a graffiti charge and flee to the inner city to live out the plot of The Catcher in the Rye. We Are Legion, directed and written by Brian Knappenberger, is a look inside the world of Anonymous, the radical 'hacktivist' collective that's redefined civil disobedience for the digital age."
The other narrative features:
Roller Town from Glen Jm on Vimeo.
Andrew Bush's Roller Town, with Kayla Lorette, Mark Little and Scott Vrooman.
Derek Franson's Comforting Skin, with Jane Sowerby, Tygh Runyan and Victoria Bidewell.

This year’s Atlantic Film Festival started off with a disappointment. All three screenings of last night’s opening gala of comedy troupe Picnicface’s Roller Town were sold out. Completely sold out. If Haligonians love anything it’s supporting their own. But putting behind me the disappointments of the previous day, I attended the first real day of the festival with excitement.

Higher Ground is actress Vera Farmiga’s directorial debut. Set mostly in a small religious community in present day, the film also jumps back in time to tell the story of Farmiga’s character, Corinne. As we follow Corinne’s development from precocious child to a young woman with a husband and beautiful family, we see her faith in god and herself change and get tested in different ways.
Based on the plot description, the film sounds like a very quiet mood piece. That...

Following on the heels of big cousin Tiff, the Atlantic Film Festival may be smaller in scope but not in variety. Each year the film festival taking place in late September in Halifax, manages to strike a delicate balance between international arthouse and smaller, Canadian and even local films. Some of my favourites from last year’s festival included Mike Leigh’s quiet drama Another Year, Michael Goldbach’s appropriately dreamy Daydream Nation, Jacob Tierney’s follow up to his hit The Trotsky, Good Neighbours and legendary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker’s thrilling doc Kings of Pastry. While all engaging and dynamic films, they vary in subject matter, genre and scope. Some boast big names, others introduce us to previously unknown names but they were all found playing side-by-side at last year’s festival. After coming away from last year’s festival feeling positive about what it had to offer, I...

Full marks to Nova Scotia (that's the east coast of Canada) based comedy troupe Picnicface. They had a dream. A ridiculous dream. and they've gone and made it into a movie. That dream is Roller Town, a comedy set in the late seventies world of roller disco, which is not the sort of thing that you'd expect Canada's normally stodgy funding system to get behind. Picnicface certainly didn't expect them to, which is why they went to their fans instead, offering to compose custom raps and create custom dance moves in their supporter's honor. A host of these videos are currently hosted on the film's official site and they are, frankly, works of demented genius. On that back of that early support the group...
