Douglas Busby's vast experience in film and television has spanned
almost two decades. He has over 80 film & television productions to his
credit, having worked as a Director, Producer, Assistant Director,
Camera Operator, Camera Assistant, and Actor, for such companies as
Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers, Paramount Pictures, and Sony
Entertainment. In addition he has been a camera operator & camera
assistant on more than 50 music videos and commercials.
Busby studied at Vancouver Film School, New York University and the
Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre where he learned film
directing, screen writing and acting. He is a member of the
International Cinematographers Guild, The Screen Actors Guild,
International Documentary Association and the Society of Operating
Cameramen.
He recently produced an episode for the Peabody & Emmy award-winning
series Vanguard, entitled Under the Knife Abroad. He directed and
co-produced the award-winning documentary, The Road to Nkunda, on
Laurent Nkunda, The rebel General in Northeast Congo. He co-produced
and was director of photography on the award-winning documentary 9000
Needles. He has directed two Documentaries on the Northern Irish peace
process. He directed & produced the concert DVD Chris Robinson, Live at
the El Rey, shot by Academy Award winning Cinematographer Vilmos
Zsigmond, ASC. He directed 2nd Unit on a documentary in Burma on Aung
Sun Suu Kyi for Jack Healey, The Human Rights Action Center, and The US
Campaign for Burma. He has filmed for the UN, The Millennium Challenge
Corporation and numerous other government agencies. He has conducted
over 700 interviews with Nobel Laureates, Politicians, Academics,
Political Rebels, Rock Stars, Celebrities and persons-of-interest in
the non-profit sector.
His work in Africa includes: 11 trips to the dark continent into
Uganda, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Madagascar, Kenya,
Malawi, South Africa and Ghana. He directed a promotional film for
Children of the Nations who care for orphans in Lilongwe, Malawi Africa
and a documentary short on internally displaced people in Northern
Uganda, which he shot in Lira, Uganda. In Ghana he documented a
humanitarian mission covering the southern part of the country. He
recently directed and produced a promotional film for Geoscientists
Without Borders in Brazil, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa and Jamaica.

New, Earth, Mud, Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, John Legend, Hans Zimmer,
Young Dubliners, Brian Wright, Truth & Salvage CO, Joe Purdy, POD,
Velvet Revolver, Lucinda Williams, Brother SAL, Kenny Wayne Sheppard
and Keith Robinson. He is the creator of the do-cu-series on the
songwriting process, Uni(One)-Verse(song).
