Warren Zevon’s Son Thinks His Dad Would Be Proud to Enter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Image
Warren Zevon’s son isn’t sure how his late father would feel about finally getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “By now he’d be 78,” Jordan Zevon tells Rolling Stone. “How would 78-year-old pop react to it? He could have been the crankiest, get-off-my-lawn-guy on the planet, or he might’ve morphed into the story-time grandpa with hard candy in his pocket and think it’s delightful. We just don’t know.”

Music fans love to complain about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s many snubs,...

Kenan Thompson Wants To Be a "Forever Cast Member" on 'Saturday Night Live'
Image
Kenan Thompson is already the longest-serving cast member in Saturday Night Live's fifty-year history, and he doesn't plan on leaving any time soon. Thompson fully intends to be the show's first "forever cast member." The comedian discussed his future plans this week with Entertainment Weekly.

Thompson is now in his 22nd season as an SNL cast member; the previous record-holder was Darrell Hammond, who left the show after fourteen seasons. Thompson, who recently appeared on the show's 50th anniversary special, stated his intention never to leave the venerable NBC sketch show: "I guess the only other milestone would be just to be the forever cast member. Just never leave the show. I don't really know." He discussed the possibility of hitting his thirtieth season on the show, and also of possibly outlasting showrunner Lorne Michaels, who has been with the show for its entire tenure, minus a five-year absence...

New Fleetwood Mac Book, ‘All the Songs,’ Looks to Go Beyond the Hits
Image
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

Some of the best music is born from collaboration, whether it’s John Lennon and Paul McCartney or the hit-making factory of Holland, Dozier, Holland. But not every collaboration has to be harmonious to sound harmonious, and no band better embodies that than Fleetwood Mac, whose creative peak coincided with affairs, drug abuse, and no shortage of infighting.

A new book aims to dissect the band’s creative output.

'Nobody 2' Reveals New Footage of Bob Odenkirk Action Sequel
Image
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk returns, and brings his particular set of skills with him, in the highly anticipated action sequel Nobody 2. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the action thriller follow-up is all set to hit theaters on August 15, 2025. According to CinemaBlend's live blog, new footage from the movie was released, which goes something like this:

"Odenkirk is on vacation with his family, and Lindsey Buckingham's Holiday Road sets the pace for the whimsical violence as Odenkirk's Hutch fails at controlling his temper. His son is starting to have similar issues with the way he handles conflict, and the whole thing seems incredibly silly and incredibly fun."

Released back in 2021, the first Nobody was directed by Ilya Naishuller and written by Derek Kolstad. Starring Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, Aleksey Serebryakov, RZA, Christopher Lloyd and Michael Ironside, the movie transforms the Better Call Saul star...

Stranger Things’ Djo Shares ‘Potion’ Ahead of Upcoming Sophomore Album
Image
Multihyphenate Joe Keery has another hit on his hands. On Wednesday, April 2, the actor and singer — who performs under the moniker Djo — released a new single, “Potion,” from his upcoming album The Crux.

On “Potion,” Djo croons over a simple guitar and percussive track. Between music, film, and television, Djo leads a busy life. But at the end of the day, he craves a simple kind of love — something to look forward to when he comes home. “I'll try for all of my life / / Just to find someone who leavеs on the light for me / Leavеs on the light for me,” Djo sings in a romantic falsetto on the song’s chorus.

The song is one of Djo’s most personal tracks to date. Not only is he front-and-center with his vocals, but he is also at the helm of the song’s instrumentation. He displays his talents as he plays acoustic and electric guitar,...

Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood Reunite in Studio
Image
Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham have reunited in the studio for the first time since Buckingham was fired from Fleetwood Mac in 2018. News of their collaboration comes from Swedish producer Carl Falk, who has posted photos of the two working on Fleetwood’s solo album.

In late February, Falk posted a photo of Buckingham and Fleetwood in the studio on Threads with the caption, “Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on. And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.”

More recently, Falk posted a studio shot of Buckingham with the caption, “Mick and Lindsey together again, what a flawless guitar player.”

He also shared a photo of Fleetwood in the studio with The War on Drugs.

Who Is Fleetwood Mac's Silver Springs About? Lyrics & Meaning Explained
Image
Fleetwood Mac's "Silver Springs" is one of their most popular songs, especially among Gen Z, but what is the story behind the 1977 track? Lead singer Stevie Nicks has been known for her female rage songs long before Taylor Swift took over the music industry. Swift even referenced the singer in her song "Clara Bow" from The Tortured Poets Department. However, Nicks's breakup songs were even more powerful when she was a part of Fleetwood Mac, and the band's lore was strong enough to inspire Taylor Jenkins Reid to write Daisy Jones & The Six.

Younger generations became acquainted with the band's history when Reid's novel was adapted into an Amazon Prime series starring Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough. The Stevie Nicks-esque party girl had a connection with her bandmate, Billy Dunne, similar to Nicks's real-life romance with her bandmate, Lindsey Buckingham. Much of Fleetwood Mac's lore is connected to that romance,...

The Big Bang Theory's Catchy Theme Song Sparked A Lawsuit
Image
One of the coolest ways a band can luck out is by having a TV show use one of their songs in their opening credits, and for that TV show to become an unexpected decade-long hit. Not only does it often make the band a ton of extra cash in royalties, but it introduces the band to millions of viewers who might not have ever heard of them. How many "Mad Men" fans were familiar with RJD2 before hearing them in its theme song? How many "Scrubs" fans knew about Lazlo Bane before they heard "I'm No Superman" in the opening credits?

For "Barenaked Ladies," getting a song featured in the theme for "The Big Bang Theory" wasn't as big of a deal because they were already pretty famous beforehand. Still, with the sitcom lasting 12 whole seasons and being one of the biggest ratings hits of the decade, it was...

Why Lindsey Buckingham Left Fleetwood Mac (Both Times)
Image
Fleetwood Mac, as one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, are known for two things: some of the most influential rock songs of the 70s, and extremely messy interpersonal drama. Their songs have been used as the soundtrack to some incredibly memorable film moments. Plus, there was that time Mick Fleetwood was on Star Trek: The Next Generation. One of the biggest contributors to both the music and drama was lead guitarist and co-lead vocalist Lindsey Buckingham.

Although Buckingham wasn't a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, he was essential to their successes and failures both, not only because of his direct contributions, but also because, when he joined the band, he brought with him the one and only Stevie Nicks. The face of rock and roll changed forever when the two of them joined Fleetwood Mac.

Fleetwood Mac Is Finally Getting the ‘Fully Authorized’ Documentary Treatment

Is Daisy Jones & The Six A Real Band?: The Miniseries' Real-Life Inspiration Explained
Image
Amazons 2023 miniseries Daisy Jones & the Six transported viewers back to the 1970s with its incredibly authentic documentary style and catchy rock tunes - and the show was so believable that many viewers wondered if Daisy Jones & the Six were a real band. Based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & the Six focused on Riley Keoughs Daisy Jones and her bandmates as they came to dominate the music scene in LA, gained global stardom and, ultimately, fell apart due to personality clashes and creative differences during their national tour.

Everything about Daisy Jones & the Six felt real. Even though viewers knew the show was shot in the 2020s and starred contemporary actors like Keough and cast mates Suki Waterhouse, Camila Morrone, Timothy Olyphant, and others, the story and band felt incredibly realistic. Stevie Nicks Says Not Getting An Abortion Would Have “Destroyed” Fleetwood Mac
Image
In a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks opened up about why she feels it’s important to discuss reproductive rights in the aftermath of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, saying her decision to obtain an abortion in 1979 was paramount to Fleetwood Mac’s continuance.

The Grammy winner said she took all the necessary precautions to prevent pregnancy, had an Iud and a “great gynecologist,” but still got pregnant while in a relationship with Eagles vocalist Don Henley.

“I’m like, ‘This can’t be happening,'” she told correspondent Tracy Smith. “Fleetwood Mac is three years in and it’s big. And we’re going into our third album. It was like, ‘Oh, no no no no no.’ It would have destroyed Fleetwood Mac. Absolutely.”

While Nicks said she would have tried her “best to get through being in the studio every single day,...

Stevie Nicks wasn’t clamoring to watch Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & the Six, but after having viewed — and liked — the show (adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel and loosely based on her romance with fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham), she has some ideas of her own to contribute for Season 2.

“I didn’t even want to see it, because I thought I was going to hate it so much,” the Grammy winner told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I had Covid when I saw it. I was in my condo in Los Angeles, and I can remember saying, ‘Am I just watching my life go by?'”

She continued, “Riley [Keough] doesn’t look like me. She’s much snappier than me. I couldn’t be as snappy as her in Fleetwood Mac. Christine [McVie] and I couldn’t do that, because we were the peacemakers. [Keough] could...

Stevie Nicks has pitched an idea for Daisy Jones & The Six season 2
Image
Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

“We would be dragging a baby…”: Heartbreaking Reason Stevie Nicks Had an Abortion at the Height of Fleetwood Mac’s Fame
Image
Stevie Nicks is best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac, an iconic band from the 70s that took the world by storm with songs like Landslide, Go Your Own Way, and Rhiannon. Nicks also built a career in music outside of the band as well, earning herself the tagline “Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll” following the release of her debut album. At the end of the day, all you need to know is that her voice can send shivers down your spine.

Nicks is known for having quite a quirky personality. Though she might come off as bubbly, fun, or incredibly fascinating, it’s not like life hasn’t ever thrown curveballs her way. Unfortunately, she had to make one of the toughest decisions during the late 70s, or else it meant the end for Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie Nicks Has Never Even Heard Of ‘Stereophonic’: No Fleetwood Mac Member Has Seen The Tony-Winning Play
Image
No, Stevie Nicks has not seen Stereophonic, David Adjmi’s hit Broadway play about a fictional (but very Mac-like) ’70s band recording what will become its (very Rumours-like) masterpiece album.

In fact, the singer who shared vocals (and decades of triumphs and tribulations) with her Fleetwood Mac bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie has never even heard of the Broadway smash.

In a new Rolling Stone interview promoting her latest song “The Lighthouse” (which she performed on Saturday Night Live earlier this month – just four blocks from the home of Stereophonic), Nicks was asked whether she had seen the play, which, among other storylines, chronicles the crumbling of a relationship between a Stevie-like singer and a Lindsey-like guitarist.

Here’s the exchange:

Rolling Stone: Have you seen the Stereophonic play?

Nicks: What is that?

Rolling Stone: It’s an insanely successful Broadway play about a band on the cusp...

Stevie Nicks Shared an Idea for a Second Season of ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ With Riley Keough, Reese Witherspoon
Image
Stevie Nicks has an idea for a second season of Daisy Jones & The Six.

In an in-depth interview with Rolling Stone published Thursday, the music icon reflected on the ending of the Prime series in which Sam Claflin’s Billy Dunne reunites with Riley Keough’s Daisy after encouragement from his wife to give his former bandmate a call after she passes away.

Though the series’ ending was left for the audience to debate on what truly happens and offered a feeling of possibility, Nicks ponders what could be if the show should ever have another season.

“I wish that it could go into what if … had Billy come back after Billy’s wife died and knocked on her door, and they decided to make that last record that I always hoped that Lindsey and I would make. That would make a fantastic second season,” Nicks said.

She also...

Stevie Nicks Says She Dealt With Lindsey Buckingham ‘For as Long as I Could’
Image
Stevie Nicks recently sat down with Rolling Stone for a nearly four-hour interview, discussing a wide range of topics that include the upcoming presidential election, her art and legacy, the perils of social media, and, of course, her most famous band, Fleetwood Mac.

She doubled down on her belief that the band can’t continue without Christine McVie — who died in Nov. 2022 — and that there won’t be a proper farewell tour. She also revealed that she spoke to her ex-bandmate and ex-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham at McVie’s memorial.

“Christine...

Stevie Nicks Says She Gave Lindsey Buckingham “More Than 300 Million Chances”
Image
Even Christine McVie’s death wasn’t enough for a reconciliation between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Nicks shared that speaking to her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate and ex-boyfriend during McVie’s celebration of life for a few minutes was as much as she could stand.

Nicks revealed the event was held at Nobu, and added that it felt like McVie was there because there was a “crazy” hurricane that “tore down” the entire deck. “The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes,” she said.

“I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” Nicks added. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

To make things crystal clear, Nicks confirmed a proper Fleetwood Mac farewell tour is out of the question with a simple “no.

Andrew Bird Soars With Madison Cunningham at Troubadour, Covers Forgotten Stevie Nicks Classics
Image
Fifty-one years after Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham first graced the stage at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham regaled a sold-out crowd with their homage to Buckingham Nicks, a studio album released by the duo prior to the artists joining the legendary band Fleetwood Mac. The September 30 show “Cunningham Bird do Buckingham Nicks,” was the first time many in the audience were able to hear these songs as the original album is out-of-print.

Madison took to the stage veiled in a white chiffon caftan and bangs reminiscent of the bohemian queen herself – Stevie Nicks, while Andrew maintained his folksy coolness. They were supported by drummer, Griffin Goldsmith, and keyboardist, Mike Viola, who’s also the producer of the forthcoming album Cunningham Bird, set to release on October 18.

Notable songs include “Crying in the Night” and “Crystal” which reminded us of the catchy hooks and emotional...

Fleetwood Mac Sound Engineer Sues ‘Stereophonic’, Says Hit Broadway Drama “Copies The Heart And Soul” Of His ‘Rumours’ Memoir
Image
A former sound engineer who coauthored a 2012 memoir about his days working on the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours has filed a lawsuit, along with his coauthor of the book Making Rumours, against the makers of Broadway’s smash hit play Stereophonic, alleging that playwright David Adjmi relied on portions of Making Rumours in the creation of the similarly themed Broadway play.

Stereophonic, the suit states, “copies the heart and soul of Making Rumours, and is substantially similar.”

Stereophonic is perhaps best described as a roman a clef of Fleetwood Mac and the mid-’70s making of what would be their 1977 masterpiece Rumours. The play, which does not use the band members’ names or songs, fashions its characters and situations in ways that align closely to Mac’s classic line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. The troubled recording of their seminal album, which endured months of romantic break-ups,...

Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham Announce Full-Album Cover of Buckingham Nicks, Share Two Songs: Stream
Image
Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham have joined forces for a top-to-bottom cover of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks’ 1973 album Buckingham Nicks. Cleverly titled Cunningham Bird, the project is due out October 18th via Loma Vista Recordings and Verve Forecast. To preview it, the duo have shared two of the record’s songs: “Crying in the Night” and “Crystal.” Stream both covers below.

Buckingham Nicks was the first and only record to come solely from (you guessed it) Buckingham and Nicks, as they both joined Fleetwood Mac in the following year. Today, the album still has yet to hit most streaming services and remains out of print physically, which Bird and Cunningham cite as one of the reasons they became interested in it.

One Of Fleetwood Mac's Members Had A Secret Star Trek Role Only Hardcore Fans Know
Image
In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Manhunt", Betazoid ambassador Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett) hitches a ride on the Enterprise-d, partly to visit her daughter Deanna (Marina Sirtis), but mostly to flirt with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart). It seems that Lwaxana is going through the Betazoid equivalent of menopause, and her libido is skyrocketing. As such, she seems determined to arrive at her destination with a husband in tow, and she doesn't really care who it might be.

Lwaxana Troi is a fun character for "Star Trek," as she is outspoken, charismatic, and tends to flout the buttoned-up formality that Starfleet officers abide by. Barrett played the role on six episodes of "Next Generation," and returned for three episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Her flippant demeanor allowed her to solve mysteries without thinking about it, and her stories tended to be personally dramatic rather than highfalutin sci-fi.
