Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will return to its normal two-hour live format on TNT and TBS. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute. The 2021 segment saluted 55 people because they had responsibility for 14 months instead of 12.
Among that group will certainly be previous SAG president Ed Asner, who was also a life achievement award recipient. That honorary award was also presented to Sidney Poitier and Betty White, who both died this past year.

Former Home and Away star Dieter Brummer has revealed that he asked producers to kill off his character as he didn't enjoy working with Melissa George. The pair played popular couple Shane and Angel Parrish in the Australian soap until 1996, when Brummer's character died from blood poisoning. The actor has since weighed in on George's recent comments about Home and Away, during which she vented her anger at still being associated with the show. She said: "My next call will be to Home and Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f**king show than me. "I love [Sydney] so much. I want to come home a lot but the stress that this has created in me is not worthy of my health. I think it will be the (more)...

Australian actor Dieter Brummer has been given the chance to avoid conviction on an assault charge by making a donation to charity and apologising to the victim.
The former Home and Away heart-throb allegedly attempted to bite a security guard, and punched and kicked another in a booze-fuelled scuffle at Melbourne's Crown Casino last May after he was turned away from a Logie Awards afterparty.
He faced charges including unlawful assault, but will now avoid conviction after he was placed on a court diversion program following a hearing at Melbourne Magistrates Court this week (beg30Apr12).
On Tuesday, magistrate Jan McLean agreed for the charges to be dropped if Brummer writes a letter of apology to the victim and makes a $518 (£324) donation to a children's charity called the Mirabel Foundation.
McLean told the 35-year-old star, "It is slightly unusual for crimes of this sort of violence to be considered appropriate for a diversion plan... (This) seemed like an incident which I trust is out of character for you. Informed by an excess consumption of alcohol, which I trust won't happen again."
The court diversion program enables first-time offenders to avoid a criminal conviction. Brummer has until 25 June to fulfil the conditions.

Australian actor Dieter Brummer was acting in "self-defence" when he lashed out at two security guards in Melbourne last year, according to his lawyer.
The former Home and Away heart-throb allegedly attempted to bite one man, and punched and kicked another in the scuffle at the city's Crown Casino after the actor was turned away from a Logie Awards afterparty in May.
Brummer appeared in court in Melbourne on Friday to face charges of unlawful assault and attempting to commit an indictable offence for allegedly trying to bite the security guard.
However the actor's lawyer, Andrew Dickenson, argued the incident was "largely a case of self-defence" as Brummer was being restrained by up to five guards and had his hands tied.
Dickenson asked for the case to be reviewed at a diversion hearing, which allows first-time offenders to escape a conviction by making amends for their actions.
The magistrate granted the request and the diversion hearing will be held on 1 May.
