Arno Breker was born on July 19, 1900 in Elberfeld [now Wuppertal], Germany. He was married to Charlotte Kluge and Demetra Messala. He died on February 13, 1991 in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Being Adolf Hitler's favorite sculptor, his neoclassical work typified the
characteristics of Nazi architecture.
While German artists and museums criticized his role during the Nazi
regime and boycotted his work, many celebrities such as Chancellor
Konrad Adenauer or high-jumper Ulrike Meyfarth were his models.
