Signature has taken all UK rights to the film.

Roel Reine’s Redbad, the flamboyant historical action epic starring Jonathan Banks, is racking up international sales for Dutch sales agent Incredible.

Signature has bought all UK rights and Polmedia has snagged rights for the former Yugoslavian territories of Bosnia Herzgovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Albania.

Redbad is set in Ad 754 in war-torn Northern Europe, where Frisians, the Saxons and the Dane are all vying for power.

Two further Dutch films are Barbara Bredero’s ‘Speech’ and Cecilia Verheyden’s ‘Behind The Clouds’.

Incredible Film has added three new Dutch films to its Cannes 2018 slate.

Frans Weisz’s Life Is Wonderful is a film about love and longing set during one spring day in Amsterdam. Speech by Barbara Bredero is a romantic comedy about the effect of our evolving language on a woman who is passionate about words.

Behind The Clouds is the debut feature for Cecilia Verheyden, based on a stage play by Michael De Cock and starring Chris Lomme.

The Berlin Film Festival (15 - 25 Feb)has revealed the full list of titles that will play in this year’s Generation sidebar, which focuses on youth and children’s films.

In total there are 65 films, 30 of which are feature length in the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus competitions. They hail from 39 production and co-production companies.

The first batch of Generation titles were announced in December.

Hans Weingartner’s 303 will open The Generation 14plus competition, with Weingartner and the cast attending. Danish animation Den Utrolige Historie Om Den Kæmpestore Pære (The Incredible Story Of The Giant Pear) will open the Generation Kplus competition.

The Netherlands Film Production Incentive scheme has backed 21 film projects to the tune of €6.1m in its latest funding round, including 15 feature films, five documentaries and one animated feature.

The average investment was €291,185, with the smallest being €40,000 and the largest sum, €900,000, going to the team behind 2015 fantasy film Admiral [pictured] for their new project Redbad 754 A.D.

Currently in pre-production, Redbad 754 A.D. will be directed by Rob Reiné (who is attached to direct episdoes of Marvel’s upcoming TV series Inhumans) from a script by Alex van Galen. Dutch producers will be Farmhouse TV en Film, with Belgian outfit Bulletproof Cupid co-producing.

The Conductor, directed and written by Maria Peters and produced by Shooting Star Filmcompany, received the second largest grant with €898,111. Peters’ previous credits include romantic drama Sonny Boy and family film Mike Says Goodbye!.
