Dame Lilian Braithwaite was essentially a theatre actress who made few
films. Played Ivor Novello's mother in Hitchcock's "Downhill", but few
of her other films are of note. Only made one film after 1932 - "A Man
About the House". Knighted as a Dame Commander of the British Empire
(D.B.E.) by the King for her services to the arts.
