Keshet International (Ki) has racked up several deals for scripted formats and finished tape in the Central and Eastern Europe region.
Ki has sold the format rights for Duo Productions’ 8 x 60’ relationship thriller “Too Much Love” (“L’homme qui aimait trop”) to Slovakian free-to-air broadcaster TV Joj. Originally created by Canadian writing duo Michel d’Astous and Anne Boyer (“Taboo”) for Bell Media’s Quebecois streamer Noovo, the Slovakian adaptation will be produced by Piknik Pictures (“Traffic Light”). Currently in pre-production, with casting in progress, shooting will commence later this year ahead of a 2024 premiere on TV Joj.
Kelly Wright, Ki’s MD of distribution, described the show as “something of a conversation starter because of the anti-hero’s controversial lifestyle choices,” with Marcel Grega, CEO of TV Joj adding that the show “is the perfect example of a modern drama that opens subjects that are considered taboo.”

When straight-a student Jacob (Antoine L’Ecuyer) starts hearing voices and howling wolves in his head, he blames it on a bad trip. However, he and his family are quickly forced to accept a diagnosis of schizophrenia, an uncertain future.
“Mon Fils” (“Son of Mine”), one of the shows on display in the Series Market Selects section of the Berlinale this week, puts schizophrenia and mental illness front and center. The Quebecois mini-series was co-created by Anne Boyer and Michel D’Astous and first season aired its six episodes almost a year ago in Canada. Its producers are now hoping to drum up interest in the international sales department.
Variety spoke with Boyer via Zoom about the research she carried out and the families she spoke to in order to achieve an honest portrayal of what it’s like to be schizophrenic.
What does it mean for the series to be screening at Berlin?...

Lady GaGa was in Chicago, Illinois in spirit on Thursday, August 5 when The World's Largest Lady GaGa Look-a-like Contest was held at State Street Pizza. From her hair, to her fashion, to her strut, some girls impersonated the pop stars and fought for the title of best-looking GaGa impersonator.
One GaGa's imitator tried her best to look like the "Telephone" singer in a white T-shirt, worn-out tight jeans and a bright blonde wig, while another chose a mini black dress, matching stripped heels and red short wig. One impersonator, additionally, opted black swimsuit-like dress and fishnet stockings.
For the contest, which was sponsored by Jz Drizin of Pizza Packet in honor of the GaGa's homecoming, MSNBC reported that Anne Boyer was dubbed the best-looking GaGa impersonator for her space outfit and all the contestants won free pizza. The event was also cheered with the attendance of Miss Chicago April Strong...
