Sean Bean will headlining Jason Bourque’s political thriller, Drone.
It looks like Sean Bean has come back to life again.
The mighty Bean, who has a notorious history of his character being killed off in many of the TV series and films he has starred in, is being reanimated for the high-suspense thriller, Drone.
Written and directed by Jason Bourque (Black Fly) and co-written by Paul Birkett, Drone hovers over the double life of Neil (Bean), an elite private drone contractor. He flies top-secret missions by day and then returns to his unknowing family under the guise of an average suburbanite. He is able to keep his dual identities under wraps, until his life thrown into major peril after being exposed by a whistleblowing site.
Neil then finds himself stalked by a mysterious and relentless businessman (Patrick Sabongui) who believes the drone operator murdered his wife and child.

Jason Bourque’s upcoming political thriller Drone has found its two leading stars in Patrick Sabongui and Game of Thrones alum Sean Bean, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Pulled from the same creative well as Good Kill, Eye in the Sky and even the Anne Hathaway-fronted Grounded, Drone is pitched as a new, contemporary drama revolving around drone warfare in the States and overseas, delving into moral dilemmas and pertinent, button-pressing questions in the process.
With Myriad Pictures already poised to introduce Bourque’s movie to buyers later this week at Cannes, the wheels are already in motion on the director’s awards-friendly feature. Penned by Bourque himself along with screenwriter Paul Birkett, Drone sees Bean play the role of a “high-level private drone contractor who spends his workdays flying covert missions then returns to a family life of suburban mediocrity. Not even Neil’s wife or his son know about his secret life.

Last week we reviewed Dragon Wasps, a Syfy channel produced creature feature released by Chelseas Films and this week we have Arachnoquake, a Syfy channel produced creature feature released by our friends at Signature Entertainment. I think I see a trend forming… Not that I’m complaining, I love the cheesy Syfy channel TV movies – mainly because unlike big-budget Hollywood flicks, these movies know exactly what they are and their limitations and have fun with it! This time round it’s the story of an earthquake in the Deep South that, besides making a mess of the roads, unleashes a swarm of albino spiders of all shapes and sizes who, as they do in these types of movies, converge on New Orleans to reek havoc on the locals.

This weekend’s premiere of Jersey Shore Shark Attack begins the first of four straight weeks of new Syfy creature features. We now have our first look at what to expect three Saturdays from now when New Orleans is under siege by huge albino spiders unleashed by an Arachnoquake.
Swamp Shark director Griff Furst unleashes a new terror on Southern Louisiana in this Syfy original from writers Paul A. Birkett (Altitude) and Eric Forsberg (Mega Piranha). It’s up to Tracey Gold (“Growing Pains”), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Ethan Philips (“Star Trek: Voyager”), and the appropriately named Bug Hall (American Pie Presents: The Book of Love) to save the Big Easy from a horde of over-sized albino spiders set loose from their underground lair by an earthquake.

Ember Entertainment has taken the U.S. distribution rights to Dusan Strugar's Night Wings (what a terrible title), a teen action thriller from Canadian indie producers Lucid Dreams and Julijette Inc, reports THR. The Inferno Entertainment division is also handling international sales for the genre pic, written by Paul Birkett, "about a 12 year-old boy on a redeye flight over the Atlantic trying to convince the flight crew that vampires are onboard the flight from Romania. Only one passenger believes the boy, a father seeking revenge for the loss of his son to the Count Radu vampire clan." Strugar is currently visual effects producer on the Chronicles of Riddick sequel. This Fright Night on a plane joins other high-flying thrillers over the past year from Altitude to Dark Flight 407, Quarantine 2: Terminal, Airborne and 7500.

An international flight is once again going to be terrorized by fanged fiends. But in the forthcoming teen thriller Night Wings, the threat isn’t venomous snakes. Oh, no. This time there are bloodsuckin’ vampires on this bloodsuckin’ plane!
The Hollywood Reporter brings news that Ember Entertainment has picked up distribution rights to the soon-to-be Canadian-produced vampires on a plane chiller Night Wings.
The film will mark the directorial debut of visual effects producer Dusan Strugar. His work can be seen in the Tomb Raider movies and the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick sequel.
Writer Paul Birkett must really love airplane monster movies seeing as how he also penned the 2010 airplane monster flick Altitude. He’s also the writer of three Syfy original movies set to premiere later this year.

What kind of high school would you find Danny Trejo as a bad ass janitor, Charisma Carpenter as a sexy librarian, and M.C. Gainey as its headmaster? My kind of high school, that’s what. Too bad it’s haunted.

This is graphic artist Kaare Andrew's first feature film and Altitude hardly gets off the ground. Anchor Bay is the main distributor behind this title and the DVD and Blu-Ray released Ocober 26th. The film puts five friends in a small, broken plane and the characters seem more irritable than most sixty year olds. The plane in the film is ever ascending, but the film seems to descend into character in-fighting, as if the film's story has lost a wing, until a semi-intriguing finale.
The plot involves a central destination for all the characters: a rock concert. The bully (Jake Weary), the charismatic pilot(Jessica Lowndes), the seat occupier (Julianna Guill), the quiet introvert (Landon Liboiron) and the freeclimber (Ryan Donowho) each have importance, but only a couple rise above horror film fodder. A mechanical problem and a giant flying...

During my mind-numbingly excruciating journey through Kaare Andrews’ 2010 supernatural plane ride “Altitude”, I discovered two incredibly fascinating truths about myself. The first is that I have a surprisingly low tolerance for stupidity in horror movies that take themselves too seriously. The second revelation is that I absolutely loathe watching a small cluster of attractive individuals bicker endlessly in an extremely small space for roughly 90 minutes. Conflict is a good thing to have in a script, that is, unless said interaction exists only to transform your short film into a feature-length motion picture. That’s precisely what “Altitude” is: an interesting short film padded into a daunting 90-minute assault on your patience. What could have been a seriously insane excursion into Lovecraftian horror is effectively obliterated by writer Paul A. Birkett’s head-scratchingly awful script. The outrageous leaps in logic, not to mention the utter lack of common sense, are simply...

Chicago – Several major summer 2010 films have been released on Blu-ray recently which could have easily allowed minor titles to go unnoticed if not for HollywoodChicago.com’s beloved Blu-Ray Round-Up. Here are a few of the smaller October HD releases worth a look.
Note: The Round-Up is designed merely to present synopsis, cast & crew, tech specs, and special features information on titles that may otherwise fall through the cracks for your purchasing perusal. Having said that, “Three Kings” is an incredibly-underrated movie that features arguably Mark Wahlberg’s best performance. Pick it up.
“Sex and Lucia,” “Three Kings,” and “Wolverine and The X-Men: The Complete Series” were released on Blu-ray on October 12th, 2010.
“Altitude” will be released on October 26th, 2010.

I wish I could say that award winning director Kaare Andrews’ first full length feature is a winner of a movie. I should have looked beyond Andrews’ name because with a script from Paul A. Birkett, I may have been prepared for what I saw yesterday afternoon. Warning: lots of spoilers ahead though it won’t matter. This is the sort of film you may need to see for yourself to fully grasp the zaniness. Not to mention that between the poster and trailer, the secret is pretty much out of the bag.
Altitude opens beautifully, going from the close quarters of a small plane to the confines of a bathroom stall. It’s immediately clear that Andrews and cinematographer Norm Li (who also shot the excellent 2008 drama Sheltered Life...

Blu-Ray ArtworkAnchor Bay Entertainment will be releasing Kaare Andrew's high-flying, supernatural thriller Altitude onto Blu-Ray and DVD shortly. The Blu-Ray artwork seen left is similar to the film's poster, with one character struggling to stay onboard and airborne. Tentacles make the job a little more difficult. Ever since it was first announced, supernatural thriller Altitude has never ceased to intrigue. After the Lovecraftian behemoth tantalisingly glimpsed in the promotional cover art, Altitude has promised an ascent from the usual sea of remakes and flood of sequels.

There was a cool little indy horror film production that we came across last year called Altitude that looked like it would be a fun B-movie type film adventure. Anchor Bay Entertainment picked up the U.S. distribution rights to the film earlier this year, and now they've finally released the official trailer for it.
The film shows us the worst possible scenario of what could happen when a group of teenage friends go out for a joyride in an airplane. When after a mysterious malfunction sends their small plane climbing out of control, a rookie pilot and her four friends find themselves trapped in a deadly showdown with a supernatural force of monstrous proportions.
The movie was directed by comics artist Kaare Andrews from a script written by Paul A. Birkett.
There's nothing wrong with watching a B-Movie every now and then. They build character, and put hair on your chest.

Director Dusan Strugar and writer Paul Birkett, who's behind the upcoming Altitude , are taking to the skies for a new horror film. It's called Night Wing and follows a red eye flight over the Atlantic. En route, a twelve-year-old boy tries to convince the crew that a vampire is among them, but no one believes him. This will be Strugar's directorial debut. He's background is mostly in FX having worked on Pitch Black and Resident Evil . Night Wing sounds a bit like Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan's Bat Out of Hell , another tale of a vampire menacing a red eye flight.

It was announced yesterday that Anchor Bay Entertainment has picked up Us distribution rights to Kaare Andrews' Altitude, the mid-air monster movie that we've featured the trailer for previously. No release date has been set yet, but I'm hoping this means we'll see it by the end of the year, since we've been waiting at least for this already and it looks awesome. Written by Paul A. Birkett, Altitude follows a group of teens on a weekend getaway aboard a small plane that suddenly turns deadly when they encounter a supernatural force. It seems heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, but other than that we don't know really they encounter. "Anchor Bay has an outstanding reputation for releasing films that provide audiences with the thrills and chills they crave and Altitude is a work that delivers both in a very fresh new way," says Anchor Bay's Kevin Kasha. A few months back, the fine folks over at Shock Till You Drop had the first look of the poster an independent horror film called Altitude, a “monster in the sky” thriller.
Check it out here:
The general concept of this film seems ripe for terror and high intensity thrills. A group of friends go out for a joyful plane ride. Unfortunately, a malfunction causes the plane to begin climbing out of control. Soon, even a more terrifying event heads their way, as a strange creature high in the clouds begins targeting them. Evidently, and judging by what little we see of it in this new trailer for the film, this strange creature is like something out of Lovecraft with long, flapping tentacles and sharp, gnashing teeth.
Just check out this screen shot:
