The 42 Film, a new Madrid and Mexico City-based film-tv company of producer Alberto Müffelmann, an executive producer on early Sundance hit “Cassandro,” is forging a first slate of titles, led by “El Origen,” to be voiced by Gael García Bernal.
Based out of Madrid and Mexico City, the new shingle is headed by Müfflemann whose producer credits take in “Museum,” Alfonso Ruizpalacios’ Berlin 2018 best screenplay winner, Fernando Frías’ 2019 “I’m No Longer Here” – a jolting, timely piece of cinema I urge everyone to see,” said Guillermo del Toro – and 2013 best film Ariel winner “The Prize,” directed by Paola Markovitch.

One of my favorite things about movies is how writers and directors can take the every day and use it to give us food for thought.
Locked In writer and director Carlos V. Gutierrez hopes to do that with his film.
Locked In is not entirely successful, but you'll be looking over your shoulder the next time you're in a storage facility.
Mena Suvari stars as Maggie, a pious woman raising her 17-year-old daughter, Tarin (Jasper Polish), alone.
Maggie's husband is in prison, which gives the devout character some wiggle room when dealing with seedy individuals and reminds her that the ultimate goal is survival.
In other words, morals be damned when it comes to protecting your family.
Maggie is a manager for a storage facility. It's a structure several stories high and a maze-like floorplan.
Right out of the gate, we learn that Maggie is struggling financially. She can't keep it together,...

It's hard to believe it, but Ozark has wrapped its run.
After four seasons of a pressure cooker-like environment, the Netflix juggernaut wrapped its run late last month.
Naturally, there are questions about whether the franchise could continue with a spinoff.
“It’s definitely something that people have talked about a bunch,” showrunner Chris Munday shared in an interview with TV Line.
“There’s nothing definitive. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show so there’s obviously going to be some interest there.”
The shocking finale said goodbye to fan-favorite Ruth (Julia Garner), who was killed off.
Given the interest in that character, there had been rumblings pre-finale that Garner could reprise the role in a new series.
“There are still ways to stay inside the show and revisit things,” Mundy said.
“I’m sure people probably would’ve been happier if Ruth was out there.

As a hit TV show ends, there's always anxiety attached with saying goodbye.
For fans of Ozark, a series that has had killed countless characters off, it's hard not to worry about where the Byrdes will end up on the final-ever episodes.
Netflix on Tuesday confirmed that April 29, 2022 will be the final premiere for the show.
Once the finale has aired, viewers will be able to take a deep dive into the making of the final season in “A Farewell to Ozark,” a 30-minute retrospective that serves as a love letter to one of Netflix’s great drama series.
The piece, which will be available on Netflix, explores the genesis of the series, the rich characters we loved and loved to hate, the gripping performances that captivated us, the creatives who made magic behind the camera, and a wealth of memories over the last five years.

The Byrde family makes one last effort to escape their criminal empire in the Season 4 Part 2 trailer of “Ozark.” The series will come to an explosive finish on April 29 when the final seven episodes debut on Netflix.
According to the official logline: “Marty and Wendy are rid of Helen and climb to the top of Navarro’s empire. They find another opportunity to get out of the Ozarks but some past sins won’t stay buried and the most dangerous threats come from blood.”
In the trailer, Marty (Jason Bateman) fears for the survival of his family as Ruth (Julia Garner) seeks revenge. “I’m just sick of having blood on my hands, Wendy. It doesn’t bother you?” Marty says, to which Wendy (Laura Linney) responds, “You’re so desperate to be the good guy.”

Netflix has released the official trailer for “Ozark” Season 4 Part 2, but if you’re fearful of spoilers you may want to hold off on watching — this one seems to potentially show a bit too much footage.
The fourth and final season of the Emmy-winning series was split in half, with the first batch of episodes dropping in January and leaving viewers on a whopper of a cliffhanger: Julia Garner’s Ruth Langmore, distraught by the murder of her cousin Wyatt, appeared to be on her way to murder new cartel boss Javier (Alfonso Herrera).
In the full trailer for Part 2, we see where that road leads. There are also rising tensions between Jason Bateman’s Marty Byrde and Laura Linney’s Wendy Byrde. “You’re so desperate to be the good guy,” Wendy tells Marty, while the two are clearly at the breaking point in their money laundering empire.

Ozark's endgame is in sight.
Netflix on Wednesday confirmed the second part of the final season of its hit crime drama will premiere sooner than you think.
The final seven episodes are set to launch on April 29 around the world, just three months after the first part.
We admit, we thought we'd be waiting until much later in the year for the final episodes, and after the conclusion to the first half, we're counting down the days to find out how all of this plays out.
"Marty and Wendy are rid of Helen and climb to the top of Navarro's empire," teases the logline.
"They find another opportunity to get out of the Ozarks but some past sins won't stay buried and the most dangerous threats come from blood."

Not quite two years will have passed between the release of “Ozark” Season 3 on Netflix and the upcoming premiere of Season 4 on January 21 — but for fans, that’s a very long time to wait to find out what is next for Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney).
Now at least fans have some clues. Netflix released a trailer January 6 for the first seven episodes of Season 4. (The second seven episodes will stream at a later date.) Here, Marty and Wendy seem poised to be free of their obligation to drug kingpin Omar Novarro — if they can just fulfill a few more small demands. Watch the trailer in the video below, which also teases a tense standoff with the FBI, more Julia Garner intensity, and Linney serving cool ruthlessness.

Netflix has debuted a trailer for Part 1 of the fourth and final season of “Ozark,” which premieres on Jan. 21.
The series stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde, who get entangled with the local criminals of the Ozarks in Missouri after moving there to continue their money laundering scheme. Season 4 will follow the couple after the killing of Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer), an attorney for the Navarro drug cartel. Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) brings Marty and Wendy further into the operation while they try to escape the Ozarks, but their past continues to haunt them.
“The Navarro cartel has been made aware that you intend to start producing heroin again,” Marty says to Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) in the trailer. “They have instructed us to warn you their response is gonna be quick, and it’s gonna be brutal.”
“We’re just the messengers here,” adds Wendy.

Pantaleon’s animated film Un Rescate De Huevitos (An Egg Rescue) is a rarity in the specialty box office as a Spanish language animated film. And its opening weekend success will certainly come as no surprise in Mexico where the franchise is its highest-grossing film series to date.
The Spanish-language animation performed tremendously at its 320 locations, averaging over $1,300 per screen—a solid achievement for an animated kids flick. With Sunday’s numbers in, the Alatriste brothers-directed film will have grossed $430K in its opening weekend. Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Austin areas were Rescate’s best markets.
Un Rescate De Huevitos is a sequel to 2015’s Un Gallo Con Muchos Huevos (A Rooster With Many Eggs) and the fourth film in the Huevos franchise overall. The latest tale follows a rooster named Toto (Bruno Bichir) who goes on a rescue mission to free his egg children Max and Uly...

Absentia's fate has been decided, and it's not good news for fans holding on to hope for new episodes.
The hit Amazon thriller is over, with the recent third season serving as its conclusion.
Stana Katic broke the news on Twitter Friday, revealing that the plan was always for three seasons, but there was a possibility of more.
The former Castle actress said that “although we’ve danced with the idea of continuing the tale, Absentia was always meant to be only three seasons, and I couldn’t think of a better note to end on… for any person on this planet, but especially [Katic’s character] Emily and her loved ones.”
The series told the story of FBI special agent Emily Byrne who disappeared without a trace while hunting one of Boston's most notorious serial killers, and she is declared dead in absentia.

Writer-director Carlos V. Gutierrez’s “Locked In” is not to be confused with 2017’s “Locked In,” nor 2010’s “Locked In,” nor the numerous short films that have also used that title in the past two decades. Nonetheless, this low-budget potboiler’s common moniker is emblematic of its generally generic nature. A thriller about a woman’s efforts to thwart a pair of criminals who come looking for their loot, it’s that prolongs what should have been a relatively brief incident. Its prospects may be better on VOD than in theaters when it opens via both platforms on May 7, but most will wisely sidestep it altogether.
Save for a few brief scenes, almost all of “Locked In” takes place in a steely, nondescript storage facility run by Lee (Bruno Bichir) and his sole employee Maggie (Mena Suvari), who’s introduced getting accidentally locked in a unit, which causes her to...

"I want my diamonds!!" Saban Films has released an official trailer for a high tech thriller titled Locked In, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Carlos V. Gutierrez. Another angry criminals thriller? Sure, why not. Mena Suvari and Jeff Fahey star in this heart-stopping, action-thriller Locked In, arriving in theaters + on VOD starting this May from Saban Films and Paramount. Directed by Carlos V. Gutierrez, Locked In follows a single mother who must protect her daughter and herself during a heist gone wrong at a high-tech storage facility. This also stars Manny Perez, Costas Mandylor, Bruno Bichir, and Jasper Polish. This looks like more direct-to-dvd junk, derivative and boring but maybe some will be entertained. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Carlos V. Gutierrez's Locked In, direct from Saban's YouTube: Mena Suvari and Jeff Fahey star in this heart-stopping,action-thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

Jason Bateman dropped by Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” set on Thursday. Bateman was just down the hall rehearsing “Saturday Night Live,” so it wasn’t much of a commute — or a risk.
Among the topics the two discussed was the unfortunate fact that Bateman’s excellent Netflix thriller “Ozark” will be coming to a conclusion with Season 4, which will be divided up into two 7-episode runs.
“We do land the plane in a very satisfactory way,” Bateman assured the NBC host, who is a few episodes behind.
“You’re happy with it?” Fallon asked.
“Yeah,” Bateman, who also directs on the series, replied.
That’s all we can ask for. Beyond a change-of-heart about a Season 5 — you know, kind of like fellow Netflix drama “The Crown.”
Bateman, who plays accountant-for-the-cartel Marty Byrd on “Ozark,” then handed out a key money-laundering tip.
