in the Top 10 bestselling books of the year in the United States as
compiled by the New York Times.
One of Bailey's biggest fans was John Wannamaker, a department-store magnate. Wannamaker was known to buy 200 copies of Bailey's latest book and pass them out as gifts to friends.
