Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) is still in some serious trouble, but he definitely ends Virgin River Season 4 in a much better place than he started. Well, that’s where Melissa (Barbara Pollard) comes in, taking over Calvin’s (David Cubitt) operation and forcing Brady to play an active role in the drug distribution. Hollingsworth takes us inside Season 4 and teases what’s next for Brady. How’s Brady feeling about his and Brie’s relationship? He does worry their happiness won’t last… Benjamin Hollingsworth: Yeah,...

When the first X-Men movie opened in July 2000, the film featured a mix of founding X-Men team members like Cyclops (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) plus later recruits like Storm (Halle Berry), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Rogue (Anna Paquin).
But fans of the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics knew that several members of the original team lineup, namely Beast and Angel, were nowhere to be found in the movie, while Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) was portrayed as a student at the Xavier School and did not join the team officially until the third film, X-Men: The Last Stand (where Angel also made his debut).
It turns out, however, that Beast, a.k.a. Dr. Hank McCoy — whose brilliant intellect is matched only by his superhuman strength and blue-furred appearance — was in several drafts of the first X-Men movie, along with the similarly blue-skinned, teleporting Nightcrawler.

The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 34 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 12.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 25 to cast their ballots for their favorite TV movies. All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 25 to cast their ballots for their favorite TV movies. Looks like during his breaks from chiding Donald Trump, Arnold Schwarzenegger is still making movies; it's just too bad few have looked good. Killing Gunther is no exception.
Directed by actor-turned-director Taran Killam (who also wrote the movie), Killing Gunther stars Schwarzenegger as the titular Gunther, the world's best hitman but also the most loathed by fellow professionals in the murder-for-hire industry. As such, a group of eccentric assassins decide its time to take Gunter out but one after the other, they fumble the job and Gunter always seems to come out on top. Comedy ensues. Or is supposed to ensue. I'm not convinced it actually does.
Along with Schwarzenegger, the movie also stars Cobie Smulders, Bobby Moynihan, Steve Bacic and Allison Tolman.

Spooksville is a show about a young man moving into a strange new place and experiencing a life he never expected or thought possible. Minus the ancient curses and interdimensional monsters, it’s not all that different from the tale of its star, Keean Johnson. The young star is getting his first big break as the lead in the new Hub Network series, which is an adaptation of the popular book series by legendary young-adult author Christopher Pike. Johnson plays Adam, who moves with his dad (Steve Bacic) to Springville a seemingly sleepy small town that Adam is expecting to loathe. […]

The embedded trailer for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Michael Jai White’s latest straight-to-dvd action opus “Tactical Force” may not look like much, but it features one of my all-time favorite action movie cliches: a police captain yelling at his officers for causing too much property damage. Despite the numerous times I’ve seen this bit, it truly never gets old. Plus, you’ve gotta love that tagline. “This drill just got real.” That’s Hollywood magic right there, my friends. Real Hollywood magic. Specifically, here’s what the film is about: A training exercise for the Lapd Swat Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar. Adamo P. Cultraro’s “Tactical Force”, which co-stars Michael Shanks, Lexa Doig, Darren Shahlavi, and Steve Bacic, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on August 9th, 2011. The trailer resides below. function getVideo...

As X-Men: First Class arrives in UK cinemas, James provides a handy guide to the film’s roster of heroes and villains, and when they first appeared...
Picture the scene. You've got into the earliest possible screening of this summer's latest Marvel movie blockbuster, X-Men: First Class. You've re-watched the entire trilogy to bring yourself up to date. Nothing can stop you from enjoying what is, by many accounts, the best X-Men film so far.
And yet, as the film unfolds, you begin to wonder what's going on. These aren't the X-Men of your youth, neither the 90s cartoon, nor the movies of the last decade. There's no Cyclops, no Jean, no Rogue. No Wolverine! You'd even settle for a glimpse of Halle Berry or Vinnie Jones.
Your brow begins to sweat. "Who are these second-raters," you cry out, disturbing those seated around you, "and what have they done with the real X-Men?...

As many may have noticed in the recent trailers for Matthew Vaughn’s X-men: First Class (here and here) and news bits, there’s a few continuity issues fans have been upset about. One of these include Hank McCoy/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) mutating in this film, but shows his character in human form (played by Steve Bacic) in X2: X-men United. Singer was able to answer some questions by the fans on the Official Facebook Page regarding these issues. “We did our best to maintain continuity with the other films. But as sometimes happens for the sake of telling the most compelling story possible, we made a few concessions,” he said.
Some the issues aren’t what would be seen a big problems, and could easily be worked around. For example: It could always be assumed that Beast was using a hologram projector during that brief screen time he had in X2.

With X-Men: First Class apparently set before the events of Bryan Singer’s X-Men, fans have already been skeptical as two key characters, Cyclops and Jean Grey, will be omitted from the film (although Cyclops is rumored to appear, here). Of course, some of the original members will make it into the film, such as Han McCoy/Beast (portrayed by Nicholas Hoult), it seems that character could be breaking continuity.
According to Geek Files, make-up artist Candy Alderson reveals that Beast will already have been mutated in film. “I’ve been spying on Beast, he’s being made next to our fitting room. He looks big and very blue,” she said. This would contradict X2: X-Men United when Hank McCoy made a very brief cameo in his human form (portrayed by Steve Bacic) on television, which he later appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand (portrayed by Kelsey Grammer). After weeks spent waiting, we've finally come to the return of Smallville's ninth season. Tonight's new episode will make us giddy with the Green Arrow, as we witness him face former foes on "Disciple."

The two of them come face-to-face, not to reminisce good times, but to settle their differences at last.

"Smallville" will take a two-month break starting this week and when it returns on January 22, it will bring along the Justice Society of America (Jsa). The episode called "Disciple" sees Clark getting the help he needs much to save the world from the grasp of General Zod.
Jsa is comprised of several superheroes such as Hawkman, Stargirl, Doctor Fate, Atom and Spectre but only three out of them have had their actors announced. Brent Stait is playing Dr. Fate, while Britt Irvin is in the shoes of Stargirl. Meanwhile, the actor to play Hawkman, whose first look has been shared, will be Michael Shanks.
Hawkman in particular won't get along with Green Arrow as Justin Hartley put it, "They have completely different views on just about everything you can imagine. Hawkman has this sort of antiquated, conservative point of view, while Oliver is the 'liberal bleeding heart'. Together, they are a match made in hell.

There's no announcement yet on a UK transmission date for Season 9 of Smallville, which is already airing in the USA, but there is plenty of information leaking out on some of the new characters and storylines.
These fall into the realm of spoilers, so if you don't want to know anything about Season 9 don't say you haven't been warned and don't click to the next page.
Firstly, Green Arrow's sidekick Speedy will make an appearance in an episode called Crossfire when Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) takes a young street girl called Mia (Elise Gatien) under his wing. There has been a female Speedy in the comic books, although the first to take that name was a youth called Roy Harper who later became Red Arrow.
Also, an episode called Disciple will feature Steve Bacic as a character called Dark Archer, who is the former mentor/tutor to the Green Arrow.

It's a miserable week for Supernatural fans -- no new episode, but rather a repeat of the Season 5 premiere, "Sympathy for the Devil". But to make up for it, The CW has provided a batch of new photos from Episodes 7 and 8, "The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester" and "Changing Channels", respectively.
First is "The Curious Case...", in which Bobby (Jim Beaver) risks his life by betting 25 years of his life on a poker game run by a witch. Dean tries to save Bobby but ends up drastically aging. The episode was written by Jen Klein (story) and Julie Siege (story and teleplay) with Robert Singer directing.
Jensen Ackles as Dean
Jim Beaver as Bobby, Jensen Ackles as Dean

Chad Everett as Older Dean, Jared Padalecki as Sam, Jim Beaver as Bobby
Next is "Changing Channels", written by Jeremy Carver and directed by Charles Beeson.

We've had a lot of new characters popping up on this season of Smallville, and we haven't even gotten to the Justice Society episode yet. Here's another bit of casting news for the show, and it greatly concerns Oliver's superhero identity. As if you didn't get that from the headline.
Anyway, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello and KryptonSite report that actor Steve Bacic has been cast as the Dark Archer. The character he's playing is going to be the mentor to the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley), teaching him skills in archery. Hm, it sure looks like Oliver's all ready for some major storylines this season.

So quietearth and I decided that the moratorium on all things Uwe Boll will be temporarily lifted due to two things. One, the raging Boll impressed us with his latest, Rampage (reviews here and here), and two, he's got an apocalypse thriller on the way called Final Storm (once called "The Storm"). So for now, he's on probation.
Extended Synopsis:
Biblical rain, dying animals and a blood red moon. Clearly, all is not well on the quiet farm in the countryside where Tom makes a living with his wife Gillian and their young son Graham.
Before the cable and power goes out, glimpses of weather related catastrophes on a global scale are hinted upon. Amidst these eerie signs, a soft spoken man named Silas stumbles onto their property, sick and cold. Even more disconcerting is how quiet Tom notices everything is... neighbors, cars, birds, crickets, all are nowhere to be seen nor heard.

The Vancouver International Film Festival kicks off in earnest tonight after a few days of panels Vancouver Film and Television Forums. The fest certainly doesn’t have the high profile of Toronto International Film Festival or Festival Du Cannes to be sure but its a growing fest in a beautiful city so who’s complaining.
Whether you are in Vancouver or following along at home, here is a menu of resources to peruse and enjoy (unless of course you are instead watching the Canucks hockey season kick-off tonight instead with the rest of Vancouver except for the people at the Whitecaps vs. Timbers soccer playoffs).
Westender’s Precious Spector
Vancouver’s WestEnder arts and culture magazine provides Movies: Top picks for this year’s Viff.
We tag ‘The Agony and The Ecstasy of Phil Spector‘ saying, “He is, of course, a convicted murderer and the proud owner of many ridiculous wigs.

As MyNetworkTV is pulling out of the original programming business, Ion Television is stepping up.
The network has picked up two Canadian drama series, "The Border" and "The Guard."
Both will make their U.S. debuts on Ion later this year.
"The Border," from Fireworks International, follows members of the Canadian Immigration and Customs Security Unit working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to secure the border on both sides of the line.
The series, which airs on Canada's Cbc, drew interest from several U.S. broadcast networks, including ABC and CBS, during the writers strike.
"The Guard," from Lionsgate, revolves around the members of a Coast Guard Search and Rescue team.
Ion has acquired all U.S. television, digital media rights, Internet streaming and video-on-demand rights for both shows.
"'The Guard' and 'The Border' are two original dramas that will fit nicely with proven hits...
