From Prada to Nada
Starring Camilla Belle and Alexa Vega
Directed by Angel Gracia/font>
Rated PG-13
There is no greater tragedy than a promising story misdirected. Like a beautiful oil painting caught in a hurricane, no matter how classic the depiction or recognizable the content, there is little chance of the survival of its integrity. Such is the case with Angel Gracia’s From Prada to Nada, a modern day adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Sense and Sensibility.
Set in Los Angeles, sisters Nora (Camilla Belle) and Mary Dominguez (Alexa Vega) are left orphaned and penniless after the death of their seemingly wealthy father. Forced out of their Beverly Hills home by their estranged brother’s (Alexis Ayala) flagrantly avaricious wife, (April Bowlby) the two take up residence with their Aunt (Adriana Barraza) and a familial slew of Mexican women in the treacherous, unexplored jungle of East L.A. From their,...
