In the 80s, Christmas was about seeing which fantastic fare the TV had decided to bless us with. Of course, the more prepared among us knew this well in advance, having eagerly pored over the Radio Times/TV Times to check that Jimmy Cricket's Family Laugh 'n' Waz would be shown. There it was – right after Reflections On The Eucharist With The Reverend Paul Leyland.

Comedian, writer and actress Jo Brand returns as Kim Wilde in a spin-off from her award winning BBC series Getting On. Going Forward is a brand-new three-part comedy for BBC Four that turns the spotlight on the Cinderella of the NHS, domiciliary care, along with the patched-up domestic lives we all lead.
Holby City and Grantchester star Imogen Byron (represented by Byron's Management) and newcomer Ben Colbert, who trained at the Miskin Theatre in Dartford (pictured above) play two of her three children, with Omid Djalili as her private-hire driver husband Dave. The cast also includes Drama Centre graduate Harry Haynes (represented by Aha) and Tom Davis.
Employed by a failing outsource provider as a Care Assistant in the community, Kim receives little more than the minimum wage for a package which consists of unpaid overtime, management bullying and horrendous shifts. Her daily slog is matched only by that of her husband,...

HBO has given a pilot order for an American adaptation of the award-winning UK hospital sitcom "Getting On" reports Deadline.
Set in the female geriatric extended care wing of a down-at-the-heels hospital, the darkly comic series follows put-upon nurses, anxious doctors and administrators who struggle with the realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system.
"Big Love" creators Mark V. Olsen & Will Scheffer wrote the adaptation for BBC Worldwide Prods. while original series creators and stars Jo Brand, Joanna Scanlan and Vicki Pepperdine will executive produce. Geoff Atkinson, Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner will also executive produce.
The announcement follows in the wake of the success of "Veep" for the network. That sitcom hails from Armando Iannucci, the Scottish comedian writer/producer/director behind acclaimed British hit "The Thick of It" and "Veep" has been criticised for essentially being a watered down American adaptation of 'Thick'.
