Woody Allen’s latest film “Coup de Chance,” his 50th feature, is getting a U.S. release. The movie will be distributed by MPI Media Group, the company that has released Allen’s latest few films ever since allegations resurfaced that he sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow.
“Coup de Chance” will open at the Quad Cinema in New York City on April 5 (other venues will be confirmed at a later date), followed by a VOD and digital release on April 12.
MPI Media Group previously released “A Rainy Day in New York” (2020) and “Rifkin’s Festival” (2022) in the U.S. “Rainy Day” was originally meant to be released through Allen’s deal with Amazon Studios, but Amazon ultimately canceled the deal when the abuse allegations resurfaced. (Allen won a legal settlement against Amazon.) Allen has been a persona-non-grata in Hollywood, but he’s continued to make movies in Europe.

In Woody Allen’s first interview on American television in nearly 30 years, conducted in July and released Sunday on streamer Paramount Plus, the filmmaker again denies that he ever sexually abused his daughter Dylan Farrow.
The interview, conducted by CBS News correspondent Lee Cowan for “CBS Sunday Morning,” skims the surface of the decades-old allegations against Allen. The interview took place last summer, but was held and released on the heels of the March 14 conclusion of the four-part HBO docuseries “Allen v. Farrow,” which once again put Farrow’s accusations into the spotlight. Allen did not take part in that series.
The 35-minute program, packaged with Gayle King’s 2018 interview with Dylan Farrow from “CBS This Morning,” also includes a new segment from “Sunday Morning” correspondent Erin Moriarty about how art should be evaluated when artists have been accused of reprehensible behavior. If your Twitter timeline recently has been dominated by tweets about HBO’s new docu-series “Allen v. Farrow,” you aren’t alone.
The four-part documentary from filmmakers Amy Ziering, Kirby Dick, and Amy Herdy examines what happened when 7-year-old Dylan Farrow, the daughter of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, accused her father of sexually abusing her in 1992. The saga has provoked fiery debates for nearly 30 years.
“Allen v. Farrow,” which premiered Feb. 21 and will air subsequent episodes over the next three weeks, aims to take a new look at the allegations and their aftermath. The story is told in part through never-before-seen home movies from Mia Farrow, as well as phone calls she recorded between her and Allen in the lead-up to the 1993 custody trial in which Mia Farrow prevailed.
Allen, 85, and his wife Soon-Yi Previn, who is also Farrow’s daughter, as well as a subject of “Allen v.

In “Allen v. Farrow,” the four-part docuseries that premiered on HBO Sunday night, documentarians Kirby Dick, Amy Ziering and Amy Herdy have tackled an especially daunting and divisive subject, even for them. The filmmakers behind the documentaries “The Hunting Ground,” “The Invisible War” and “On the Record,” have investigated Dylan Farrow’s 1992 allegations that her father, Woody Allen, sexually abused her when she was 7 years old.
Dylan Farrow’s harrowing accusations played out in court during the lead-up to the vicious custody battle between Allen and his ex-partner Mia Farrow — and every day, they were also splashed on the pages of the New York Post. Simultaneously, Allen’s then-newly revealed sexual relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, Farrow’s older daughter, ensured the tabloid press was fully engaged, something Allen weaponized against Mia Farrow, whom he painted as a manipulative hysteric. Woody Allen and his wife Soon-Yi Previn have issued a statement to the press through a spokesperson — Allen’s sister, producer Letty Aronson — in response to the HBO docuseries “Allen v. Farrow” that premiered Sunday. The program details his daughter Dylan Farrow’s allegations of abuse against the director, and includes in-depth interviews with her, Allen’s former partner Mia Farrow, and those who say they witnessed his behavior.
Allen and Previn claim the filmmakers — Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering — had “no interest in the truth” and were “surreptitiously collaborating” with the Farrows to do a “hatchet job riddled with falsehoods.”
In the four-part docuseries, which contains interviews with the Farrows as well as close family friends and experts, Dylan Farrow says that “for the longest time I’ve been trying to set the record straight… No matter what you think you know, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Woody Allen’s “Rifkin’s Festival” will world premiere this September as it opens the 68th edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, where it will play out of competition.

Hachette Book Group has abandoned plans to publish Woody Allen's autobiography following condemnation of the plan by the controversial director's estranged children, Ronan Farrow and Dylan Farrow, and a protest by the company's employees. Woody has not commented on the decision. His sister and producer Letty Aronson declined to comment when reached by the New York Times. "The decision to cancel Mr. Allen's book was a difficult one," Hachette said in a statement on Twitter on Friday. The Deauville American Film Festival has set Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day In New York as its opening night movie on September 6. The French premiere is the highest-profile showcase the title will have had to date. It was previously shelved by Amazon in the U.S., which also nixed a four-film deal with Allen, citing comments the director made about the #MeToo movement. Allen then brought a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the streamer. The Deauville fest selection of the Oscar winning filmmaker’s latest may stoke further debate– but maybe not in France.
A Rainy Day In New York, which we hear is very good, stars Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning as a young couple whose weekend get-away turns into a succession of fortuitous encounters and unusual situations. Letty Aronson’s Gravier Productions produces.
Allen is among the pantheon of cherished auteurs in this country, having enjoyed great critical and commercial success.

In a press conference held in San Sebastian, Spain, to mark the beginning of production on his latest project, Woody Allen announced that he does not plan to retire from moviemaking anytime soon (Via Deadline). The project, previously under the working title “Wasp 2019,” is now titled “Rivkin’s Festival.” The film stars Spanish actors Elena Anaya and Sergi Lopez alongside Gina Gershon, Wallace Shawn, Christoph Waltz and Louis Garrel. Allen’s return is controversial given the allegation of sexual assault made against him by his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow.
“I have never thought of retiring,” Allen said during the press conference on Tuesday. “Since I started, I’ve always tried to focus on my work, no matter what happens in my family or with politics. I don’t think about social movements, for example. My cinema is about human relationships, about people. And I try to have humor in them.

Madrid — Woody Allen is re-teaming with Spain’s Mediapro, one of Europe’s biggest independent film-tv companies, to develop his next film with an eye it seems to shooting in Spain.
Mediapro co-financed and co-produced two of Allen’s highest-grossing movies, 2008’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” which grossed $96.4 million worldwide, and 2011’s “Midnight in Paris” which earned $151.2 million around the world.
A spokeswoman for Mediapro confirmed to Variety that Mediapro, with 56 offices in 36 countries, will produce Woody Allen’s next film.
“The project is still at an initial step and it is too early to talk about locations or other details,” she added.
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, which cites confirmation by Mediapro sources, Allen’s team has been scouting locations in the Basque Country. No details of the film projects’s title, cast or indeed subject have emerged.

Soon-Yi Previn, Woody Allen’s wife, has broken her silence about her relationship with the controversial filmmaker and her early life with Allen’s former partner Mia Farrow.
Previn claims in a new interview with Vulture that Dylan Farrow’s allegations of molestation against Woody Allen are false, and that Mia Farrow abused Previn.
“Mia wasn’t maternal to me from the get-go,” Previn told Daphne Merkin, the author of the op-ed and a friend of Allen’s for four decades.
“I was never interested in writing a ‘Mommie Dearest,’ getting even with Mia — none of that,” Previn, who was adopted by Farrow and then-husband Andre Previn when she was six years old, said. “But what’s happened to Woody is so upsetting, so unjust. [Mia] has taken advantage of the #MeToo movement and paraded Dylan as a victim. And a whole new generation is hearing about it when they shouldn’t.

Few people know Woody Allen as well as his younger sister and longtime producing partner Letty Aronson. During the past 22 years, Aronson has produced or executive produced 24 of Allen’s films, including his latest, “Café Society,” which hits theaters Friday. Set in the 1930s, the bittersweet romance stars Jessie Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart as young lovers pulled in different directions by nightclub life, Hollywood celebrity culture and New York City gangsters.
Though Allen is known for being a “final cut” filmmaker who gets the final say on every detail of his movies according to his singular vision, his process of writing and directing is much more collaborative than his reputation might lead some to believe, according to Aronson. “We can say ‘I don’t love this part of the script,’ or ‘I think these clothes look terrible,'” Aronson told IndieWire. “He’s very open to that.”

It's summer, so it's time for a Woody Allen film. Irrational Man is the latest in a half-dozen titles the filmmaker has had in recent years to be released in the summer by Sony Pictures Classics. Some of that is true, though his producer (and sister) Letty Aronson let it be known that he actually does take a look at the numbers. His…...

The first picture from Woody Allen’s new movie confirms that Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone are its stars. But what do we know about the bigger picture?
Sony Pictures Classics have released the first picture from the new Woody Allen film Irrational Man, and apart from the fact that it confirms that Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone are indeed the stars of the film, it seems that Allen isn’t giving much away. (Unless you count the highly visible Lacoste logo on Phoenix’s polo shirt, which may point to top-dollar product placement fees. Or not.)
So what do we know about Irrational Man? We know the principal cast, which includes indie-scene veteran Parker Posey and young Brit actor Jamie Blackley. Less dramatically, we also know that Allen’s sister Letty Aronson is one of the producers; she’s been part of his operation since 1994’s Bullets Over Broadway.
