There's more to handhelds than the Game Boy. We take a look at how mobile gaming has changed over the decades...
It goes without saying that handheld games have come a long way over the past 35 or-so years. From electronic bleepy things that were little more than glorified calculators, portable technology is now almost unrecognisable in 2017.

In the six months since its release, the Nintendo Switch has already matched half of the lifetime sales of the Wii-u. Nintendo's latest earning report says the current lifetime sales of the Switch are at 7.63 million units, and the Wii-u's sales after five years were 13.56 million units. The news is not all that surprising given it's been known all year the Switch has been a runaway success, but apparently, things are so good that Nintendo has now raised their predictions for sales at the end of March from 10 million to 14 million.
Additionally, Nintendo reports they sold 27.48 million units of software, which means the average owner has purchased around 3-4 games for the console. Presumably, one of those titles is either Zelda Breath Of The Wild (4.7 million), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (4.42 million), or Splatoon 2 (3.5 million). As for Arms, Nintendo reports the game has sold 1.35 million, which is just below the widely panned 1-2 Switch.

The Nintendo Switch gets its own major Super Mario game, but is it an essential purchase? We delve into Super Mario Odyssey...
When Nintendo’s athletic mascot celebrated his 30th anniversary in 2015, the event coincided with the release of the charming Super Mario Maker. But as likeable and fun as that Mario construction kit was, it arguably lacked the sense of occasion surrounding a major series entry like Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64. Super Mario Odyssey, on the other hand, feels like a true celebration for such a legendary character.

Link has always been a character of few words, so it almost seems like a joke to say he's had 11 voice actors voice him over the years, but it's absolutely true. We're talking from the time Jonathan Potts first gave the character a speaking role in 1989's The Legend Of Zelda television series, all the way to Breath Of The Wild. Here are some facts on these voice actors who landed the gig of the century as they net money just grunting and screaming their way through a game.
The Most Prevalent Actor In The Franchise Is Sachi Matsumoto
I guess we should say actress, as the female Matsumoto is known for her voicing of "Toon Link" in the Legend Of Zelda franchise. In total Matsumoto has voiced the character in 8 games, and only two of those games are canon (Windwaker and Phantom Hourglass). Hilariously enough, Matsumoto has voiced the...

E3 is an exciting time of year for all types of gamers as the show expands into many different categories. Mobile gamers can be excited for new social interactions, and maybe even some new hardware, and of course hardcore gamers can see what the next few years have for them. Here at Cinelinx we are excited for our own reasons and well, we can’t wait to tell you why. Want to know what’s got us excited? Find out after the jump!
Dustin:
Last year, overall, E3 was kind of a dull moment for many reasons. Sure we got a glimpse into Microsoft’s future with Project Scorpio, after the promised they wouldn’t be doing that, but they kind of forgot to bring the unit with them. Sony had a stellar opening showcase and showed off many games, but a majority of them are still unreleased, and undated.

Understandably, the games industry has taken a keen interest in the progress of Nintendo's brand new system, the Switch. It’s the quirkier touches that separate Nintendo’s best devices from rival console makers. Better late than never, eh? For what feels like forever, Nintendo has been talking about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, incrementally increasing the scope of what it has (and has not) been willing to show to the public ever since confirmation that it existed came in 2013. Holy Crap.
Okay, let me start by stating that I've been a "Nintendo guy" since I was 4. My parents got me the Nes when I was four, and I've owned every piece of hardware they've put out since (save for the Virtual Boy. Because...Virtual Boy). And yet...I was going to pass on Nintendo Switch.
Yeah, it looked pretty cool and interesting. I dug the announcement trailer. But considering I don't game as often as I used to (having two kids will do that to you), and the fact that I think I played my Wii U for a grand total of 37 minutes, I had resigned myself to the idea that the Switch would be the first time I passed on a new Nintendo console.

Both times that I saw Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in theaters I was treated to a trailer for The Founder. The film caught my attention because, well, it stars freakin' Michael Keaton, and because it seems like a great story that's pretty much never been told. So I'm in!
And today, I get to share with you three new clips from The Founder, as well as an official synopsis for the film that will show us about a key business decision that practically changed the world.
Here are the new clips from The Founder, starring Michael Keaton:
"Real Milk"
"You're In The Real Estate Business"
"Selling The American Dream"
Directed by John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks), The Founder features the true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California.

If you're a lifelong DC nerd like me, then these comments from Dwayne Johnson are heaven-on-earth...
One of the recurring critiques coming from folks put off by the first three films in the DC Extended Universe is that they've worked too hard to- as producer Deborah Snyder put it- "deconstruct" their heroes. They've tried to be subversive, morally complex, and generally "dark." Inspired by the success Christopher Nolan found when he rebooted the Batman franchise and turned it into a high-minded, grown-up allegory for the tricky times we all live in post-9/11, Zack Snyder was hired to steer the entire DC ship in a similar direction.
There were a few problems with that, though.
For starters, Snyder is no Nolan. Period. And the bigger problem was: Not every DC character is Batman.
So when his Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice gave us an angst-ridden Superman,...

A few months back, we shared with you an official Lrm Hot Rumor regarding the next proper entry in Fox's X-Men series. In a nutshell, we'd spoken to a high-level source at Fox, who exclusively revealed to us that the next chapter in the X-Men saga would be a full-on Dark Phoenix movie, based on the storyline that was so popular in the comics and on the 90s TV cartoon.
Read: "Lrm Hot Rumor: X-men Reboot To Finally Let The Dark Phoenix Fly!"
Well, now there's another rumor hitting the net that may- or may not- confirm our report.
According to the industry publication Production Weekly, the next movie in Fox's mutant saga will be called X-Men: Supernova. While this was once rumored to be the title for Josh Boone's X-Men: New Mutants, the publication makes it appear perfectly clear that Boone's film will stick with its...

On January 25th of last year, I shared a report with you regarding xXx: Return of Xander Cage while that project was still in its earliest stages. In that report, I shared with you a pair of rumors that- if true- suddenly made this new xXx far more interesting. While one of them remains merely a rumor (one that we won't know the status of until the film arrives in theaters), the other already seems to be coming true.
Read: "The Vin Diesel xXx Sequel Just Got Bigger"
It would appear that xXx: Return of Xander Cage will definitely not be a one-off, and that Paramount and star Vin Diesel are hoping it becomes the next Fast & Furious franchise. Why do I say that? Because, according to Diesel, Paramount is already trying to lock up the cast to shoot a fourth film in May.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - In what world could I not start with this one? Anyone who knows me or has read my work knows how much of a Zelda fanboy I am. However, you don’t even have to be a fanboy to appreciate the gravity of Breath of the Wild. It’s the first true open-world Zelda game, Windwaker was to an extent but not to the level of Breath of the Wild.

There are some big name videogame sequels on the way next year, along with a raft or new IPs that have helped to make 2017 a highly anticipated year for gaming. Amidst these titles are some very important sequels that are set to bring previously huge series back to life, and in some instances, sequels that have a heavy weight on their shoulders, having to make up for previous instalment’s failings.
We've taken a good look at next year's releases, and we've picked out the best. These are games that are either very important, set to revive old franchises, or simply games that we just can't wait to play. So, without any further ado, let's get stuck in to our list, sorted alphabetically.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon played host to the first TV demonstration of the Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Run...
You've probably seen and read a few things about the Switch by now. It's Nintendo's successor to the Wii U, it's a kind of build-your-own transform-a-console which plugs into your telly or unplugs to become a portable handheld device, and if you squint, the controller looks a bit like a cute dog with floppy ears.

If you were intending to pick up a Nintendo Switch on launch day in order to play the definitive version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild next year, you might want to hold off on your pre-order.
According to noted Nintendo tipster Emily Rogers, various sources close to the company have let slip that the highly anticipated title won’t see a release to coincide with the Switch due to localization issues stemming from the sheer size of the game and its features.
According to the source, localization duties are still ongoing, with the process potentially not being complete until December. Following that, the game will “require between four-to-six months of testing,” meaning we’re probably looking at a potential summer release for the ambitious title.
While nothing is definitively confirmed at this point, Eurogamer has also received similar reports from its own sources, so it...

This first entry will offer a bit of history, as we build towards what's happening in the present day Dceu. We'll explore all of the interesting parallels and forks in the road that brought us to where the Dceu is today.
Humble Beginnings...
Long before comic book movies dominated Hollywood; Long before comic books were looked upon as anything other than campy, youth-oriented entertainment; Long before Hollywood titans like Disney and 20th Century got into the business of building worlds out of superhero titles, a struggling film company merged with another conglomerate in a seemingly innocuous merger transaction.
Warner Bros., which had begun its life in 1923 and would become one of the most important studios in Hollywood, was in an extremely vulnerable place in the mid-1960s.

We’d not have thought it possible prior to the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch last week, but we’ve actually been left with more questions following the first-look trailer than before. Yes, we finally have confirmation following an onslaught of rumors that the new device will be both a handheld and home console as well as utilize cartridge-based games, but beyond that, we’re still largely in the dark as to what’s under the hood.
Thankfully, Nintendo’s confirmed the date in which we’ll hopefully find out more about the technical specs and games for the system, but there’s still a long wait to sit through. Announced via Twitter, a further Nintendo Switch livestream will be held on January 12, 2017, and will include a firm launch date, pricing and a “look at the lineup of games currently in development.”

Does it matter whether Nintendo ‘beats’ Sony or Microsoft? Ryan argues we should look beyond sales when it comes to the Wii U or Switch.
That rattling you heard the other day was the sound of a legion writers frantically typing their thoughts on the Nintendo Switch. Will the console be any good? How much power does it have? Why won’t Nintendo confirm or deny whether its screen is touch-sensitive? And, above all: can it succeed where the Wii U, in mass market terms, largely failed?
Reaction pieces have varied from the positive - see Time’s surprisingly evangelical preview - to the scathing - see VG247’s scathing summary, which suggests that Nintendo’s “going at it arse-backwards again”. Admittedly, the Switch was never going to please everybody, even if Nintendo does appear to be engineering a system designed to fulfil all kinds of functions: home console,...

So Nintendo's new console is officially called the Switch. We delve into its new promo to see what we can find...
Seldom a company to follow established trends, Nintendo reliably chooses the unexpected and the innovative over out-and-out processing power. In the case of the Wii, the move to motion control paid dividends; with its successor, the Wii U, the mix of tablet, controller and traditional console failed to capture the same mass audience.

I guess I've been under a rock for the last week or so. I had no idea that Rihanna recorded a song for Star Trek Beyond, so when Kellvin asked me to cover this item I thought there was a new viral video for the film featuring Peter Gabriel's 80s classic "Sledgehammer." Turns out I was way off!
So here's the cosmic music video for Rihanna's Star Trek Beyond song "Sledgehammer."
Sledgehammer (From The Motion Picture
And, just for fun, here's the song I thought I'd be talking about:
I defy you to tell me that this wouldn't have been a better song for Star Trek Beyond!
Anyway, the latest entry in the J.J. Abrams-produced rebooted Star Trek film franchise, directed by Justin Lin, comes out on July 22. And Rihanna's new song for Star Trek Beyond, titled "Sledgehammer," is available for download now.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has reportedly said during Nintendo’s investor Q&A that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild needs to sell over 2 million copies for it to make a profit when it launches next year. Miyamoto’s comments, which were translated by Twitter user Cheesemeister3k (via VideoGamer) reveal that the reason for such a sales target is a combination of a large stuff numbers and a rather long development cycle.
He reportedly said that:
Breath of the Wild has over 100 staff, and over 300 people in the credits, spending over 5 years. Our current efforts will be helpful in the next production. The costs will be recovered by selling in large volumes, passing 2m sales.
A game is a hit in the domestic market if it reaches 300k sales, but we’re targeting worldwide sales.
However, despite the heavy resource investment Nintendo has put into making Breath of The Wild,...

Industry analyst Michael Pachter has said in a recent episode of Gamertag Radio (via VideoGamer) that he believes The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of The Wild will help Nintendo sell upwards of 10 million Nintendo Nx consoles when the two products launch next year, adding that he thinks it will happen “pretty quickly.”
Although he admittedly didn’t realise “that Zelda was launching on Nx when Nx launches”, he says as that is the case, it makes him think “Nx is much more higher powered” than he expected, believing the mystery machine will be “closer to PS4” in terms of power than he thought it would be.

A new Mario title could be unveiled as early as next year, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto told IGN in an interview published yesterday. The general manager of Nintendo Ead and long-time member of the company said that, “we’re always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you’ll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two. Maybe next E3 we’ll be able to share something.”
Many will surely be quick to latch on to the phrase “a new kind of Mario,” in the hopes that whatever game he next appears in will be wildly different from everything that’s come before, especially off the back of Super Mario Maker which, while great, offered little in the way of innovation or evolution.
Could we see something as ambitious as Super Mario Galaxy being announced one or two years down the road? Quite possibly, but...
