The much-awaited return of the ghost detectives on the silver screen is finally available on Netflix, and the fans seem to love it. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the Netflix series is created by Steve Yockey and it follows the story of two ghost detectives who decide not to ascent to their afterlives to stay on Earth and investigate the crimes involving the supernatural. Dead Boy Detectives exists in the same universe as Netflix’s hit DC fantasy drama series The Sandman, and while it is different from The Sandman in its story and visuals, the Dead Boy Detectives seem to be connecting with the fans. So, if you loved the charm and supernatural shenanigans in Dead Boy Detectives here are some similar shows you should check out next.

Based on the Idw comic book by Beau Smith, the Syfy series Wynonna Earp was “a fast-paced, contemporary thriller” that followed Wyatt Earp’s great-granddaughter as “she battles demons and other supernatural beings. Wynonna is a witty and wild modern day gunslinger, using her unique abilities and a dysfunctional posse of allies to bring the paranormal to justice.” The show did well, running for four seasons and 49 episodes from 2016 to 2021. Three years later, it’s set to get a 90 minute follow-up special called Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, which will be released through the Tubi streaming service.
Vanity Fair broke the news of the follow-up special, which has been written by the show’s creator and executive producer, Emily Andras. They were also able to confirm that Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna herself), Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday), Dom Provost-Chalkley (Waverly Earp), and Katherine Barrell (Nicole Haught) are all reprising their roles, and “other familiar...

Top Hollywood writers took to social media to express defiant support for their first union walkout in 15 years and showed their feelings about studios being unwilling to meet their contract demands.
The Writers Guild of America announced the work stoppage will begin Tuesday afternoon. The union also released a list of claimed responses from the studios to their proposals, which helped fire up members.
“The Shield put FX on the map,” wrote FX’s Snowfall writer-producer Sal Calleros. “Mad Men put AMC on the map. House of Cards put Netflix on the map. Writers did that. Not some CEO. Know what you get when you put CEOs in creative lanes? You get Quibi.”

Spoiler Alert: This post includes details about the series finale of Syfy’s Wynonna Earp.
It all came full circle for the Earp sisters in the series finale of Syfy’s Wynonna Earp. The supernatural series from creator, executive producer and writer Emily Andras, went out with a bang as Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano), Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and the rest of the gang gathered for one last family gathering at the homestead.
The final episode “Old Souls,” written by Andras, finally brought Waverly and Nicole Haught’s (Katherine Barrell) long-awaited wedding to center stage. As the soon-to-be newlyweds (a.k.a. WayHaught) prepared the Earp homestead for an intimate ceremony, Wynonna tries on her sister’s wedding dress for cheap thrills. The fun comes to an end when she realizes the wedding gown is impossible to remove, even when a non-Vampire Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) attempts to cut it off her body.

It's been a tough few years for Wynonna Earp, both on screen and off. On screen, the titular heroine turned 27 and, thanks to a family curse, was forced to re-kill all of the outlaws originally killed by her ancestor Wyatt Earp. Off screen, the show was nearly canceled after season three due to financial problems, made it to season four, and then got actually canceled. The Earp curse is now technically broken and the show will end on Syfy in just a few weeks, but the fight continues, both on screen and off. Creator and showrunner Emily Andras has made it clear that she is trying to find a new home for Wynonna. Wynonna herself, Melanie Scrofano, is just trying not to take what she has for...

“Wynonna Earp” fans know better than anyone that the end of the road isn’t always what it seems.
To a fandom that has watched more than one of its main characters return from beyond the grave over the last five years, Syfy’s recent announcement that it wouldn’t be picking up a fifth season of the cult-favorite supernatural series was just another challenge to overcome.
“They’re a formidable group,” Jordy Randall of Seven24 Films, which produces the series out of Calgary, said of the show’s fans. “They have the ability to create situations and outcomes for the show that I’ve never seen before.”
Seven24 is currently in search of new U.S. distribution for the series, and Randall said he is currently in discussions with “several” outlets, though he declined to get more specific.

As soon as news dropped that Wynonna Earp Season 4 would be the final season of the fan favorite supernatural western to air on Syfy, the next logical question for most fans (including this one) was: could Wynonna Earp Season 5 happen elsewhere? In this age of peak distribution platforms and cult classics revived from the apparent dead for one last hurrah, could there still be a future for Wynonna Earp? Like many things, it mostly depends on money.
Before we get too far into this article, it’s important to note that any possible continuation of the Wynonna Earp TV series is pure speculation at this point. There are currently no plans to film a Season 5. That being said, while the language in the press release made clear that Season 4B would be the final episodes to air on Syfy, there are obviously still people involved in making this show who...

We set the stage: It is the Wynonna Earp midseason finale. Two people, who have gone through hell and high water at each other’s side, make a decision to bind themselves to the other. It’s a choice grounded in love, kindness, understanding, and hope for a better future. The only difference is that this love is shared between two women who, in addition to battling literal demons, have also battled harmful LGBTQ tropes like “Bury Your Gays” and come out on top in spite of it—bulletproof vests sometimes included.
Bury Your Gays: A History aka When Queer Stories Don’t Include Happiness
“Bury Your Gays” is the narrative trope that sees queer characters killed off at a disproportionate rate, often but not always in the service of furthering a straight lead characters’ storyline. The trope has been a particularly visible issue in the LGBTQ community since the...

After a two-year hiatus, Wynonna Earp is back with solid viewership for its Season 4 premiere. Sunday’s debut episode delivered 656,000 total viewers in L+3, up 11% from the Season 3 premiere, according to Nielsen. Boosted by a weekend of online watch parties and the cast returning to San Diego Comic-Con via a virtual stage, the premiere garnered 1.2 million multiplatform views, Syfy said.
“Wynonna Earp is a bona fide phenomenon,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks – USA & Syfy. “Not only did it return for its fourth season stronger than its third, the resilience and passion of the Earpers continues to shine across social media, ‘cons and more.”
On premiere day, July 26, Wynonna Earp was the #1 most social program across all television (excluding sports). In the lead-up to the Season 4 premiere throughout July, Wynonna Earp saw 22.3 million estimated impressions across the twitterverse, according to Nielsen social content ratings.

As creator Emily Andras puts it, “‘Wynonna Earp’ has always felt a little bit blessed and a little bit cursed.” And with the cult favorite Syfy drama finally set to return for Season 4 this weekend after nearly two years of production delays (some pandemic-fueled), financial issues and fan action to save the show, it’s not hard to see what she means. The Season 4 pickup was first announced more than two years ago, at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018, with no indication of the difficulties to come. “One more thing…” screens at the convention center declared to the room packed with ecstatic fans, “Season 4. 2019.” Video of the announcement showing the raucous crowd screaming and cheering in excitement might as well be from another lifetime — especially compared to this weekend’s more subdued virtual Comic-Con@Home panels. “I feel like it was greenlit in the ’80s,” Andras joked. “We were all wearing Hammer pants.

Wynonna Earp is ready to tangle with the Garden of Eden, hopefully save some loved ones, and maybe grab a drink along the way — though all without her trusty Peacemaker at her side.
The Syfy gunslinger returns to action this Sunday at 10/9c, with a Season 4 opener that comes a long 22 months after its previous finale. When last we tuned in, the good news was that the Earp curse had been lifted, and Bulshar no more. In bad news, however, Wynonna’s sister Waverly had gotten yanked into the mythical, capital-g Garden, and newbie vampire Doc followed in brave pursuit.

Guys. It’s been two years since the Wynonna Earp Season 3 finale and, if you’re anything like me, you have probably forgotten some of the finer points of the show’s recent plot past: omg, Waverly and Nicole are (basically) engaged! With the Wynonna Earp Season 4 premiere just around the corner, let us all go over what was going down in the Ghost River Triangle (and beyond) when we last left it back in 2018, A Simpler Time.
The Earp Curse is Broken
The Earp curse is no more. In the Season 3 finale, Wynonna teams up with the Revenants in an attempt to take down Bulshar (aka Sheriff Clootie), the man-demon who started this whole Earp Curse business to begin with. As a counter move, Bulshar breaks the curse, disappearing the Revenants presumably back to hell and leaving Wynonna without her supernatural backup. Enter Waverly, Wynonna’s half-angel sister who...

As frightful as the closing moments of Wynonna Earp‘s Season 3 finale were, it appears as if happy days are ahead for Waverly Earp and maybe-fiancée Nicole Haught.
When last we tuned into the Syfy series (back in September of the year 2018), Wynonna (played by Melanie Scrofano) had vanquished Bulshar and broken the curse, but not before being poisoned by the Big Bad’s venom. And though Doc’s status as a bloodsucker proved handy in that crisis, Wynonna could only watch as both Doc (Tim Rozon) and her younger sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) were consumed by the Garden of Eden’s stairs.

Emily Andras, aka the showrunner of Wynonna Earp, has a new drama in development at Syfy and it sounds awesome.
Wynonna Earp showrunner and fandom guardian angel Emily Andras is developing a new show for Syfy that sounds all kinds of clever. Three cheers for Syfy and the Canadian network Space!
Thanks to their ponying up more money for the much-beloved Wynonna Earp, it will rise again!
That's right, the Emily Andras favorite that has spawned Earpers all over the world is now set for a 2020 debut.
The production for Wynonna Earp Season 4 was supposed to start months ago, but a hiccup in the funding from producers Idw Entertainment nearly forced the end of the series.
The delay means they have to round up the cast again for new deals, as their options expired during the downtime.
Happy! and Deadly Class Canceled at Syfy
Given the talent involved and their love for the western-themed supernatural show, I have faith they'll all find a way to get back to business.
If you're wondering why Syfy didn't just forge ahead with the production finances be damned, well, they don't own the rights to the franchise.

Syfy is moving forward with a fourth season of “Wynonna Earp” after a prolonged delay caused by funding issues at the show’s producers, Idw Entertainment.
The new season, which will begin production later this summer, is slated to premiere in 2020.
Syfy previously picked up the cult favorite series through Season 5, though it was reported earlier this year that production had been delayed because Idw said it was losing money on the show. Cineflix Studios has now come aboard to co-produce the series, with Cineflix Rights to handle international sales for all four seasons of the series.
