Without ever being credited, he wrote the introductions and wrap-up remarks delivered deadpan by Alfred Hitchcock for the latter's two TV series, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (1955-62) and its one-hour follow-up, "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour". It has been said that Hitchcock was so upset by Allardice's early death that he closed down the show rather than find another writer.
